Detailed Reviews
I booked 6 months ago, got a great rate, but after reading some poisonous reviews I wondered if I have made the right choice? I certainly did, the staff are amazing and the management need to be commended. We have a French plated car so the doorman instantly spoke to me in French, when I responded in English he switched immediately. The two girls on Reception couldn't have been more welcoming or kinder, one was from Ukraine so we had a bit of a chat about that sad situation. Room was lovely with a Dolomites view, the turn down service each night was fantastic, fresh towles etc, from a very friendly lady who knew customer service. We were exhausted after having done a big walk, so one night we had delicious room service, when she came into the room the first thing she said was "Bon Appetito" After another exhausting walk we ate in the restaurant, so lovely to have lots of casual choices and service was immaculate, without requesting a young lady asked if we would like to share our dishes and when we said yes, out came more plates and a side table . We had no problem with checkout, the bill was correct. We had one night of Valet parking (30E's) but the next 2 nights we parked in the hotel courtyard at no cost. We had a very warm day but the mountain air cools down at night so no air-conditioning was not an issue for sleeping. Gym has excellent also. We would stay here again in a heartbeat, Paolo on Concierge was a gem.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Savoia from 27 to 1 January and I can say with certainty that I will happily cherish the memory of those days for a long time, in the hope of being able to return soon.
I had read many reviews about the location and the services offered, but experiencing them in person is something completely different. My boyfriend and I arrived at the hotel together with our little dog Zeus, a small size, and we were welcomed in a very professional way. But what immediately struck me was the attention to detail also reserved for four-legged guests. Zeus, in fact, was very happy when upon arriving in his room he found a fantastic welcome kit, with bowls and a very comfortable sofa that he no longer wanted to leave. They may seem trivial, but pet owners will certainly be able to understand how these precautions are never taken for granted, especially on holiday.
Another unforgettable moment was lunch on the terrace. If you have the opportunity, I advise you not to miss the barbecue. It's a 360 degree experience: admiring the Chef's mastery during the preparation of the meat, and then tasting it (superb Angus Fiorentina), surrounded by a breathtaking view... what can I say, worth repeating!
We also had lunch at the Bar after a morning skiing, where the menu is not at all banal. I ate the red turnip Casunziei, while my boyfriend had the Tagliatelle with venison ragout, both delicious.
Zeus enjoyed the cuddles of many of the staff, even the Director and her cute Dado, with whom he made friends. I am sure that he, like us, can't wait to return
Heartfelt thanks to all the staff and management for this unforgettable experience

Our stay at the Grand Hotel Savoia Cortina d'Ampezzo was very pleasant and memorable.
The concierge, Diana Kirtadze, gave us good guidance for the hikes we wanted to do. The kitchen staff packed us a nice breakfast box and had it ready and waiting for us at the front desk super early for our hike that morning.
The breakfast buffet was extensive; had everything one could ever want for breakfast - all kinds of fresh fruits and juices, breads, eggs, pastries, cold cuts, cereal, yogurt, cheeses, teas, coffees, warm porridge and egg preparations made to order .... the food was freshly made, delicious, and beautifully displayed. I wish they had more vegetarian choices for dinner.
We received impeccable service from Giovanni Rizzo and his team, at breakfast and dinner, during our stay. They were polite, friendly and struck a perfect balance between being attentive without being intrusive.
The turndown service at this property was rather nice too. The housekeeping staff served us with a smile; they got us a portable fan on a warm night, and gave us several extra bottles of drinking water (choice of still or sparkling) when we asked for them.
We had a lovely stay at this property - their balsamic vinegar, olive oil (Vibianini) and tiramisu were the best yet!

The Grand Hotel Savoy is a magical, unique and special place. My favorite place in the mountains. Immersed in the scenery of the Dolomites gives you the truest emotion of this territory. The rooms are cared for in every detail and are really beautiful and of great design! The rooms are very nice, comfortable and very clean.
The added value of this beautiful hotel are the people, great hospitality professionals always kind and ready to meet every request of the customer and always in tune from a human point of view so that you always feel at home.
The icing on the cake is the bar where you can enjoy cocktails and delicious aperitifs and the restaurant, great everything, from traditional dishes revisited with great skill by the chef, to fresh and delicious fish. All great with excellent raw materials!! Really unique flavors!! Beautiful location of the terrace where on sunny days we enjoyed fantastic barbecues with the unique scenery of the Dolomites. A big and heartfelt thanks goes to the Maître who are the real "magicians"
"of the reception and very good all the guys in the room masterfully guided by them!!
I especially thank and felt the Director Rosanna Conti impeccable in the direction of this beautiful structure.
In short, thank you
all of real heart, you have made this holiday so unique that you do not want to go away!!
See you soon!!

The good stuff: A stylish renovated hotel in Cortina. The rooms and hotel look absolutely stunning. The spa is very nice and has all you need to relax after a long day hiking. There is plenty of staff who all do their best to give great service and make your stay as comfortable as possible. The breakfast buffet is very extensive and super nice. There is a nice bar and restaurant (but very expensive).
Now the bad stuff: This is the most expensive hotel in this town. We spend more than 500 euro's per night to find out that the rooms had NO airconditioning. You would expect a hotel rated as 5 stars and for these prices have airconditioning (even though the booking websites don't claim they have, but who reads these details for hotels with these ratings and prices). The room was very hot in the evening and night and we really slept awful because of this. If you stay here in the winter, no problem, but in the summer we feel this hotel is way overpriced because of this. We had to remove the cover of the bed and had to sleep with the doors open, but outside it is noisy early morning. They do offer a fan when you complain but that only brings in more noise and doesn't really help anyway. We also would expect the spa would be open later than only 20:00. The staff do their best to give great service but are sometimes a bit too pushy.

We were on the evening of January 4, 2024, at Lounge Bar 1224 of the Grand' Hotel Savoia. We had a truly wonderful time, excellent food, welcoming and refined environment, attentive and attentive staff. A magical atmosphere, in which to enjoy delicious dishes, surrounded by warm and enveloping furnishings and lights, with high quality service. We will always return to this fairytale place.

Hotel was amazing…BUT, the restaurant and bar were horrific. Tried to charge me 35 EUR for sitting with my wife at breakfast . The manager tried to explain to me that they had to charge me because they had limited seating (the restaurant was at about 10% capacity, and whether I was there or not, she still would need a table). Then in the evenings they wouldn’t wait on our family at the outside patio bar. Two nights in a row. The same manager was there from the morning. The disdain they had for us was palpable. But we don’t know why. We are all well traveled, speak a decent amount of Italian and are polite to everyone. I would not go back and would not recommend this establishment, as wonderful as the hotel was, because of the rudeness of the restaurant and bar staff.

Response from Rosanna Conti, General Manager at Grand Hotel Savoia Cortina d’Ampezzo, A Radisson Collection Hotel
Responded Sep 4, 2024
Dear Mr Ruddy, we realized that you wrote both review when you still were in hotel. We are surprised to read such harsh words against the staff. we do not have rude people, they do mistake but they are not rude. As said during our meeting I think you misunderstood the words and the attitude and we are sorry for this. you booked your stay with a room only basis it means that no breakfast was included. you went to the breakfast room and sit down with your wife. the staff assisted you and at the end showed you the bill with the charge of € 35 per person, which is the cost for the buffet breakfast. We know that you had only a coffee and the maitre immediately cancel the charge. For this reason we are sorry to read that the staff are rude. It is not true that we charge the table and this kind of situation neve happened before. we have a lot of guests who book room only rates and it is clearly stated online that the cost of the buffet breakfast is € 35. Before leaving you promised to amend the reviews and the wording Mr Ruddy. Believe us that there has been a pure misunderstanding and not a bad attitude also at the Bar. We really hope that you keep your promise and to welcoming you again in the future because we are absolutely sure we will be able to make you fully appreciate our hotel and services. Best regards Rosanna Conti General Manager

Bathrooms must be improved (lights enter the room if you go to the bathroom at night)
pillows should be replaced for all customers with goose down pillows, the breakfast chef should improve ,
but all the staff and 'was kind, the managers very professional, and in general it was a good experience

My teenage son and I were on a Easter ski trip and spent three wonderful days at the Grand Hotel Savoia in Cortina. The staff was exceptional and very accomodating. Paolo one of the concierges went out of his way to explain where the best slopes were and was a wealth of general information concerning Cortina. The rooms were very comfortable and spotless. We enjoyed our best meal in Cortina in the hotel's Savoy restaurant where once again the staff outdid themselves. Breakfast had a good variety of choices, the view of the mountain was beautiful from our table and we were welcomed with a smile upon our arrival every morning. I am not the best driver with a standard car but a member of the staff always came out in front of the hotel to quickly park for us! It was a magical stay for my son and I which I will always remember with pleasure.

From arrival to departure, the service here was impeccable! Genuine greetings from the staff by name, fantastic restaurant recommendations, and wonderful care each time we interacted with the staff. The bar area was fun and had great drinks and food. My wife enjoyed services at the spa and felt the technician was knowledgeable and had one of the best experiences (and my wife has been to a lot of spas!) Overall, the rooms were spacious and clean, beds were incredibly comfortable, food was great, and such a great location for walking in the town. The children enjoyed their stay as well, affirming they would love to come back! Special recognition to the concierge team including Chiara, Paulo, who were able to secure restaurant reservations despite being a very busy weekend and all the wait staff who took excellent care of us!
