Stayed here for two nights, then decided to go for another hotel. We booked a Premier room and were expecting a modern room. However the room was very dated. Check-in was very slow and took almost 45 minutes. The staff is friendly but slow. Some do not speak English. In our room was no WiFi signal at all. Breakfast was served from 8-10am. For a weekend and a full hotel due to a wedding function, the breakfast window was definitively to short. Breakfast room was accordingly crazy and staff was slow. Not the holiday stay we wished for. Very disappointing.

What started out as 4 stars deteriorated to 3 stars when hordes of very very noisy guests arrived for the weekend with sunbed bagging before breakfast leaving none available, music blaring till 1.15 at night and suddenly the dining room turned from a professional waiter served enjoyable experience to a free for all queuing for a buffet - the staff are wonderful, the pools gorgeous, the rooms comfortable but oh the noise!. Spoilt the last days of our holiday.

We've just got home from a lovely, mainly sunny week(!) in Sicily. We stayed in the Diamond hotel the whole week. The location worked really well for us; Giardini Naxos has a nice waterfront for a stroll, plenty of restaurants and a good beach (although this is about a 25 min walk from the hotel). It's also just a 10 min drive from the beautiful Taormina, and the shuttle service from the hotel was really useful. When we arrived at the hotel first impression were pretty good, it looks inviting and the welcome was good. There's plenty of space, outdoors and indoors, putting green, spa. Unfortunately we were a little bit disappointed once settled in as the hotel just didn't meet its potential. Visiting here in the autumn, we anticipated that some facilities may not be up and running, but the reality was the hotel had a pretty small number of staff working which hugely restricted what was on offer. For example, the rooftop pool which was far nicer had just 7 sunbeds, no towels, no bar. The only bar which was open was the outdoor one by the other pool. The spa also had just 2 staff members including the therapist, which meant reception was rarely covered, there were no towels available on arrival and the men's facilities were dirty. As I said, the hotel looks the part and I am sure a summer stay would be very pleasant. Our overall view though is that a 5 star hotel would offer 5 star service no matter what, and this is not what we received. If you get a good deal & expect a 4 star, we think you will enjoy it!

Dear Lulu74, thank you for your detailed review. We are glad to read that you liked our hotel and are sorry that you did not appreciated totally our service. The hotel disposes of 2 outdoor pools, one opened the whole season with the bar service while the second, the one on the upper floor, is open with bar service and light lunch from June 1st to September 30th. Of course our clients can use the upper pool but,as explained upon arrival, without service. At our SPA during low season are working 3 ladies, with one day off each week, so it can happen that are only two. We beg your pardon regarding the missing of towels and the men's facilities. Please be assure that all comments of our guests are important for us as they help us to improve ourselves. We hope to welcome you in a next future to change your opinion. Warm regards The Hotel Management and staff

Travelled here on a package tour with Sunway, and stayed for a week in October. Location is somewhat awkward, up a hill behind the northern end of Giardini Naxos. Although there is a sprinkling of eateries within a ten or fifteen-minute walk of the hotel, it's a good half-hour's walk to the main drag of GN, where you'll get the best choice of bars and restaurants. You can pre-book the hotel shuttle bus to go up to Taormina (about a ten-to-fifteen minute ride), or walk to the Q8 filling station (about 5 mins) to pick up the local Interbus - tickets are €3 return. Taormina is a beautiful old town. The Diamond is quite a complex, with several floors and wings. It's bright, clean and well-maintained. The third-floor pool is beautiful with stunning views of the mountains and a partial view of the sea. There's plenty of space around it, all nicely landscaped with olive trees and other pretty plants. We weren't happy with our room which had a dark, overlooked terrace and the management were very reluctant to allow us to change. They did eventually agree, but we had to argue very hard to get a brighter room with a balcony. I don't know why we couldn't have been facilitated with a bit more grace, especially as it was off-season and most of the rooms in the wing where we were eventually placed were empty. The selection of food at breakfast was good. Beds were comfortable and the room decor was fine. The town of Giardini Naxos is a long, strung-out development around a bay. It's picturesque in parts but the amount of litter strewn about lends it an unappealing scruffiness. The staff in the restaurants were mostly offhand, and sometimes actually rude. I'm not sure if they were just fatigued at the end of the season or if they have so many tourists coming that they can afford to treat them with contempt. Manners/training seemed a lot better up in Taormina. If I ever return to this part of Sicily, I would rather be based in Taormina itself. Tip/warning (not to do with the hotel but relevant to our stay there). We had a very bad experience with the half-day excursion to Mt Etna. We paid the Sunway rep €35 to book it, but weren't informed that this only covers the bus to the foot of the volcano. From there the cable-car journey up the side of Etna costs another €30 per person (plus 45 mins spent in a jostling queue to board). From there, it's another €35 per person and another lengthy queue to board a four-wheel-drive bus. We didn't do this leg because we ran out of time with all the queuing, but apparently at the top you have to pay again (and maybe queue again?) to hire a guide. The whole thing is a shambolically organised grab for cash.

We arrived at The Diamond Hotel on a weekday afternoon to blazing sun and a beautiful Hotel. Our room was very clean but lacked a balcony, it was large with a lovely bathroom and fridge. The hotel itself had two terraces to sunbathe on and two pools. The ground floor terrace also had a bar which was very expensive so we tried not to spend much there. The breakfast on offer was varied and plentiful and you could sit on the terrace. The English breakfast was not great but their ham and cheeses were wonderful. Many people had complained about only having one coffee machine but we found that if you asked the very helpful staff to bring you a coffee they were happy to oblige. The staff were generally lovely in particular, Carmen who ran reception, Patti in the breakfast room, Nicolette and the barman could not have been more helpful or charming. The hotel is based down the bottom of a mountain with great views. The local town of Naxos was a lovely walk through cobbled streets with areal feel of Sicily. The town of Taormina was a cab/shuttle away and was truly spectacular. With ancient churches wonderful restaurants and inviting shops. The hotel offers a free shuttle which you should book early in the morning and will save you 15 euros each way by cab.I really loved my holiday in Sicily and the hotel and would definitely visit again!
