Photographs dont really do it justice, the views are spectacular and the walk into Malcesine is breath taking, picture postcard stuff, infact sometimes when we looked at our pics they didn't look real.
The staff are wonderful, especially the receptionist who helped us so much with organising our transfer from the airport and then when we were leaving a transfer to Verona train station to catch a train to Venice.
The staff had integrity and honesty, it was old school, like you don't seem to get anymore.
Totally loved it and will return again some day. Cant recommend enough!
Bed is big and comfortable and clean and you have AC and strong Wifi in the room. The hotel can provide extra towels for the pool, which is clean and also has a nice view over the lake. Breakfast is served with a good selection of pastries, fruit, cheese and meat in the conservatory area - again with views of the full lake.
Whilst the hotel does not serve lunch/dinner, it has a bar for drinks (although sporadically staffed) and the Hotel across the road Hotel Rosa serves food until 8pm. The bus stop to the centre of Malcesine is only 5 mins walk away - you can get the 483 and it's only 2 stops - and the restaurants here are open much later.(Recommend buying a 3 or 7 day bus pass if you are here for a while as the bus drivers seem to charge what they want for each journey). There are also music events happening every day/night in August.
The castle and the cable car up Monte Baldo are a few mins walk in the centre. You can also get down to the water for a swim pretty much anywhere in Malcesine or near the hotel.
Downsides - We were bitten every night by mosquitoes so insect repellent is a must and keep the shutters by the balcony closed at night.
The hotel is up some very steep steps and is a 5 minute walk from the bus stop (Val D'Sogno) along a busy road which would not be suitable for anyone with mobility problems. However, there is a car park so this would be fine if you were planning to drive!
The shower is narrow and the reception desk is not manned all the time - best to advise them of your arrival time.
The room would also benefit from a fridge to keep drinks cool!
