Stayed here as another 4* hotel was over subscribed. How lucky we were! A family run traditional hotel with pleasant, professional and caring staff, especially Giuseppe and Rosita. Our room was kept beautifully clean every day. Plenty of areas inside and out to sit in comfort. Food was delicious with a pleasing mix of choices.

Relaxing holiday place few steps away from the beach. The garden is magnificient and exceptionally well kept. The whole atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful. Food very good. It's a classic place, not a modern hotel but we liked it!

The hotel is a perfect place to stay if you want to relax in the sun, go to the beach and eat good food. The beach is 5 minutes away and not crowded. The room is clean, and the staff is really nice. The restaurant has a different menu every night, and the food is well prepared and fresh. If you want to explore the area nearby, it is possible to rent bikes. We had a great week!

Quiet traditional Italian hotel. Very friendly atmosphere. Nice large room and bathroom with balcony. Very comfortable without being glitzy. Common parts were traditionally decorated. Gardens and car parking. Unfortunately as it was late in the season there was no breakfast available.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights last week based upon the recommendation from the owner of the prior resort we stayed at in Tuscany. We were not disappointed! The hotel is beautiful and all amenities were perfect. The massive beach is only a five minute walk. All of the staff was very friendly especially Sergio, and Pino who made special arrangements for my girlfriend's birthday. The dinners were so good that we preferred to dine at the hotel rather than venture out to local restaurants. It is hard to say that about your typical hotel. We would gladly stay there again and highly recommend it.

Our family just finished a week in Marina di Pietrasanta at the Hotel Verdemare. We chose the hotel mainly on the strength of a positive review at this site, so our expectations were perhaps too high. We were quite disappointed by our first impression of the rooms, which were dark, damp and musty. The hotel is spread over three buildings and our room was on the ground floor of the building "at the back," i.e., surrounded by a large hedge and parking lot and street on three sides. We booked late, so I guess we had to take what we got, and Euro 124 a night for a double room with breakfast is not a bad price for a hotel in one of Italy's most popular resort areas in July. But it is a drag that so many four-star hotels have these two-star rooms in reserve. We were quite envious of the guests living in the other buildings, which looked quite charming. What we liked: 1) a pleasant location away from the very busy beach area; 2) a good breakfast buffet served by a friendly staff. What we didn't like: 1) A stern receptionist who didn't make us feel overly welcome; 2) The dark, musty rooms. Take the advice of an earlier reviewer and look at different rooms if you have the chance (we didn't - it was booked full); 3) The absence of any view at all is not what you're looking for in a vacation hotel; 4) Noisy - we could hear everything in the neighboring rooms, not to mention the kitchen getting fired up next door. No sleeping past 8 o'clock in the morning; 5) Never knew when the hot shower would turn cold; 6) Housekeeping. There was a ton of dust under the beds in the kids' room, which was causing allergy problems. We asked them to sweep, and instead they applied some kind of industrial-strength solvent which made the room uninhabitable for the next four hours. The worst thing is that they insisted there was no strong odor, even though it literally brought tears to our eyes; 7) Plenty of other small complaints that we would have gladly overlooked if they had tried a bit harder to provide a decent room. Despite these complaints, I can easily imagine that this is nice place to stay. It's certainly a pleasant looking hotel in an area where most are shabby looking tourist traps. The problem, in a nutshell, is that they have some rooms that are not four-star quality, and they should tell you this in advance.

Response from lutor, Proprietario at Hotel Verdemare

Hi, thank you for your comments, criticisms as compliments are always useful to get external feedback on the activities we do with passion for over 40 years. Ours is an historic hotel, situated in three buildings of different design, and every year we strive to restructure our environments to make them more comfortable and functional to our guests needs. For this reason, in our structure there is no room alike and it is obvious that we can not publish a photo for each. There are rooms on each side of the buildings, of course, and who can book in advance has an advantage because he can choose the location and the view that is most satisfying. The rooms are well soundproofed, subject to a civil behavior of those who stay close. We are surprised to receive complaints about rooms cleanliness because it has always been a source of great satisfaction for our guests. The category of an hotel, however, must be based on objective characteristics such as size of the common spaces and rooms, facilities and services and we assure you that our hotel is fully standards compliant. We try anyway to meet the aesthetic tastes of our guests show individual rooms in advance whenever possible. Drawbacks can still happen and we apologize. Our greatest concern has always been to make our guests feel like at home using helpfulness and kindness to fulfill any need. Sincerely, Luca Tognetti

We are a couple that just returned from Italy, we wanted to see the tuscany riviera (called Versilia) and it was just lovely. We enjoied staying in a quiet place, close to the sea and traveling all around tuscany. It is 30km from international Pisa airport where we rent a car. The hotel is placed in a green spot, full of pine trees, where you can see mountains and sea at the same time, right far from the main street not to hear any car noises but very near to the beach, just a 5 min. walk. The hotel people were kind, professional and very helpful. The best part of the hotel is the restaurant, delicious food, excellent service. We tried other places around but we always agreed that the best one was in our hotel. They don't have a pool but have special conventions with beach structures provided with swimmingpools. The hotel is made up of three buildings, the main, and old style "villa", and a "dépendance"; all of these houses are inside a big park where you can lay down in the sun on deck chairs or just read a book under a gazebo. We arrived at the hotel without a booking and we asked to see some rooms to choose one. The are quite different one from each other, old style, modern, with terrace, suites.. but all provided with fridge, Sat-tv, air-conditioning, safe, etc. They don't have internet connection plugs in all rooms but they have a wireless coverage and we enjoyed staying in the garden writing some emails! Driving around we discovered many interesting things near to our place: many nice shop with the best fashion brands, nice bars and discos, seaside promenades, very cosy and characteristic towns, golf fields. We recommend a visit to this place, well known from italians but maybe not so popular to foreigner like us. We also recommend staying in this hotel where we would definitely return. P.S: Many thanks to the receptionist Sergio for beeing so kind and provide us with all we needed :-)
