The hotel Oceano is situated on the Versilia sometimes know as the Tuscan Riviera. The hotel location has essential components of a holiday at a beach resort of the Versilla. Marina Pietrasanta, and Camaiore Lido are coastal resorts next to each other with road networks leading inland to the towns of both these resorts. The hotel has good connections with... More

At the time of booking I thought the British reviews were curiously out of step with others, but they were old. This is a family run hotel where nothing is too much trouble. Spotlessly clean, a good and generous breakfast and really helpful staff. It is on the border of Pietrasanta and Camaiore and so provides as useful base for... More

We never have received such unfriendly treatment by any hotelmanager or staff we ever had to deal with. No smile, no friendly touch. They, especially Simona, gave us the feeling to disturbe, to bother her, we were never treated as guests. Perhaps it was our fault to travel with a group, but if the owners do not like groups -... We were part of a tour on a 2 centre holiday to Italy but the Hotel Oceano was something else. The owner Simona was rather formidable. You didn't know if she was joking or not. Someone wanted to borrow a hairdryer and was told to" bring it back in 5 minutes, oh OK 30 minutes" You had to sign for... More

This was part of a two centre holiday, we looked at the reviews before we went and feared the worst. But were pleasantly susprised. Simmone the owner has a good sense of humour and liked to joke with us in the evenings. The food was excellent. The drinks are a bit dear but we got good measures. We did get... More

We were part of a 50 person group on a two-centre holiday from England and stayed for 5 nights at the begining of October '06. The hotel was modern and the rooms were clean and tidy, but fairly basic. The food was quite good but the drinks were expensive. The topic of conversation was the unfriendliness of the manager and... This hotel was the second part of our stay on a two centre holiday with a tour group. We were greeted in reception by a very hostile manageress / owner who was very abrupt and most unpleasant. Our room was very clean, tidy and comfortable. On arrival in the dining room we were met by sullen, grumpy waiting staff. But,... More

The hotel is modern and the rooms clean and reasonable but that is where the compliments stop. The husband and wife team (and she appeared very formidable) go out of their way to make Brits unwelcome and the rest of the staff could not put a smile together between them. A most unpleasant atmosphere all week culminated in a near... More

Management response:

We remember that day and we are sorry for what it happened but we have to add that the director or owner of any hotel has to protect all his guests. That evening the dining room was full of guests (not all belonging to the English group) and an English guest was talking to their friends and they were clapping... More

If a good location and decent customer service is what you're wanting from your hotel then I recommend that you steer clear from the Hotel Oceano. Firstly the hotel is situated on the very outskirts of Marina di Pietrasanta, the centre is a good 25 minute walk away and the local amenities are very limited. Whilst located on the sea front...
