We walked into the hotel without any reservation during peak summer. The staff were very friendly and gave us a room with a huge balcony and view. The shower was actually amazing! The room also included a parking space which was handy. The breakfast was a very nice continental spread. This was the perfect place to stay on our impromptu...

This was our third time to this hotel in as many years and its very comfortable, clean, and inviting. This is small family run property and if you are looking for a great location and a great Tuscan view from your balcony, this is the place. Great value for money as well.

What Albergo Il Marzocco lacks in luxury, it makes up in service. It's a family owned hotel, and they are the kindest, most hardworking people. We had a group of 18, and they went to great lengths to ensure our comfort. Some people complained about the hardness of the beds. The mattress was fine for me, but I will agree...

What a great hotel.. A real throw back to the roaring 20's....very high ceilings and plastered walls, elegant antique furniture in the common areas. Terrazzo floor and stairs, but the stairs to the 3rd floor (where our room was located) were white marble!! Very spacious rooms, clean and comfortable. We had a room for 3 overlooking the Piazza and we...

Stayed here recently and loved the hotel. So many good points - wonderful staff, excellent breakfast, on site parking, reliable wifi, great location, good price. All combined to make it a great stay. BUT - we had the worst bed we have ever slept on in a hotel. If booked here - try the bed before accepting any room. Foam...

This is a older hotel near the main entrance to Montepulciano. We had room 26, the room was large with a great balcony area, our room had a great view if the valley below. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom a good size, their breakfast was one of best we had in Italy, as mentioned by other people the...

A refreshing change, this hotel feels more like a bed and breakfast with privacy. Family run, historical photos and furniture. We felt like we were staying at Nonna's but with a great rain shower and beautiful views across Tuscany. Dine at La Grotta for exceptional meal and service.

We have been 3 times and appreciate the family run nature of the hotel, extremely convenient for the main shopping streets of delightful Montepulciano. Home made tarts feature at breakfast. I echo the comments about the scrambled eggs. There are a few car parking spaces just outside the hotel - the Signora gives you a ticket to put behind the...

Excellent location and a beautiful building. The interior is very much of its era. Super comfortable beds and Wifi averrable almost everywhere. Tasty breakfast - a variety of tantalising cakes and so forth, some clearly home made.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Behind the Medicean column there is the Hotel Il Marzocco, the oldest in town. It was built in 1500 as a farm of the nearby convent. In 1860 it became a hotel and since the early 1900s it has been run by the same family. The hotel looks like a large house where the atmosphere of the old times is still kept. Its bedrooms open on wide lounges that, like the reading room and the sitting room, are furnished with genuine XIX century pieces. Some bedrooms have balconies or terraces with a view on the valleys, other ones have their windows over the Renaissance houses of the old town. The hotel has had important guests like actors, writers, politicians, all of whom are fond of the great view from its terraces. A free parking area is available, as well as comfortable relaxing spaces and a wide dining room where breakfast is served from a rich buffet with home-made bread and cakes, jams and pies. Among the roses of the garden, the Canada creeper climbs until the terraces and creates a pergola up to the roof, at first green in summer, than all red in September and yellow during the autumn. Red geraniums at the windows, together with the old lace curtains, add to the building a perfectly romantic touch. Wi-Fi Connection. We accept pets. Free Indoor garage for motorbikes and bicycles. ... more   less
