We were touring in Tuscany and booked this hotel through tourist information. It is not far inside the medieval city walls and has a few parking spaces outside. It was probably 'state of the art' in the 50s and is kept well decorated if a little quaint. (The basin was cracked.) There are some atmospheric public rooms - they could...

I had a very pleasant stay here a couple of years ago. The staff was very nice and accommodating. My room with a large patio was outstanding. Also, the breakfast served was superb. I hope to return one day to this very hotel.

We stayed for 2 nights and it was a lovely experience. The ladies who run hotel are extremely nice and helpful. Rooms are big and relatively clean; our balcony had stunning view. Breakfast was simple, but great cappuccino. Wifi worked everywhere and was fast. The only let down was a bed, since the mattress in the middle of bed had...

We stayed here from the 23rd of July to the 29th of July! The rooms were stunning- with booking two twin rooms (family in both) the rooms were side by side and both with balconies which connected allowing us to go from room to room which was perfect! The views were breathtaking, the breakfasts couldn't have been better, the service...

This is a magnificent Italian palace retaining many original features especially the staircases. Despite this the rewards are the stunning views across the town and surrounding countryside. This hotel is very well placed and provides excellent service; breakfast is a real feast of all that is so good about Italian food. The rooms are large, great showers and all maintained...

Hmm, let me try not to repeat what everybody else has already posted: When we were shown our room at the Marzocco we found the view as stunning as the stairs that lead up to it. With the help of the friendly lady at the reception, we managed to carry our heavy luggage all the way up to the 4th...

Beautiful building and location, hotel is quirky and quaint with very friendly service typical family run Italian hotel - a world away from the main chains and all the better for it. Our room was clean and much bigger than we needed but well equipped. Stood up well against the other similar hotels we stayed in on this trip -...

How do these Italians do it. They man the lobby, serve the cocktails, cook your dinner, serve it with the wine add-on and turn the whole thing in to a gastronomic education. Run by a local couple it is just what you expect for the money, located just inside of the historic walled city with a view all of the...

This hotel is located inside the city walls of Montepulciano. We did drive directory to the front of the hotel but I do NOT recommend that ;-) Those one way, tiny, curvy, hill town roads are like nothing you have ever seen! The hotel is very old and dated run by a very nice extended Italian family. Not a lot...

Albergo Marzacco, a charming B&B located at the bottom of the hill within the ancient city walls of Montepulciano is the perfect location to call home while exploring this Tuscan gem. Our room was perfectly curated with gorgeous antiques and french doors that opened to a balcony with magnificent views of this beautiful land. Albergo Marzacco was an immaculate location...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Behind the Medicean column there is the Hotel Il Marzocco, the oldest in town. It was built in 1500 as a farm of the nearby convent. In 1860 it became a hotel and since the early 1900s it has been run by the same family. The hotel looks like a large house where the atmosphere of the old times is still kept. Its bedrooms open on wide lounges that, like the reading room and the sitting room, are furnished with genuine XIX century pieces. Some bedrooms have balconies or terraces with a view on the valleys, other ones have their windows over the Renaissance houses of the old town. The hotel has had important guests like actors, writers, politicians, all of whom are fond of the great view from its terraces. A free parking area is available, as well as comfortable relaxing spaces and a wide dining room where breakfast is served from a rich buffet with home-made bread and cakes, jams and pies. Among the roses of the garden, the Canada creeper climbs until the terraces and creates a pergola up to the roof, at first green in summer, than all red in September and yellow during the autumn. Red geraniums at the windows, together with the old lace curtains, add to the building a perfectly romantic touch. Wi-Fi Connection. We accept pets. Free Indoor garage for motorbikes and bicycles. ... more   less
