My family and I recently spent four nights at Villa San Simone and had an enjoyable stay. We rented the basement apartment which suited our needs very well. The views from our private garden as well as those from the pool were outstanding and really make you feel as if you were are square in the middle of Tuscany. The...

I found the room very comfortable with everything that I needed for my short stay, the property was easy to find and conveniently located for the local town of Pistoia and the surrounding attractions.

This was my second visit to Villa San Simone and, as before, the welcoming owners took wonderful care of me. The villa is located in a lovely setting in the hills overlooking Pistoia and provides a peaceful and comfortable setting for those wishing to explore this part of Tuscany. Pistoia is an attractive town with many restaurants and bars and...

We used Villa San Simone as a base while visiting Pistoia over a long weekend to view its historic buildings and to practise the Italian language. The owners are a kind and welcoming retired couple who were perfect hosts for our short stay. The Villa's elevated position in the hills to the north of Pistoia endow it with lovely views...

Totally stunning Villa's, so much character & very picturesque, very quiet location, breath taking views. We did hire a car to get around which was handy. I would definitely go again. Great hospitality, great food, we were very well looked after. Great selection of apartments. My visit was to embrace the cuture while continuing to learn the Italian language and...

It is chic and easy going at the same time, the perfect base for a Tuscan holiday, much better than a hotel with its cosy and welcoming atmosphere and friendly owners. It is also very peaceful and relaxing, the ideal starting point for a cultural experience.

After reading the good reviews I decided to stay here as a family of five. I was looking for a clean place with good views outside of Pistoia. May I just mention that Villa San Simone is not a full service hotel but more a B and B composed of multiple well equipped appartments. It has a pool with marvellous views....

I stayed here for 4 days with my mum and her Italian adult education class in late May. Lidia and Sandro were nothing but welcoming to us throughout our entire experience, and it was fantastic for us to be exposed to their beautiful Italian, since we had been banned from speaking English all weekend! We arrived quite late, but our...

We had a wonderful stay at this ~1000 "castle" perched in the hills above Pistoia while we visited our daughter and her classmate, who were in the middle of their next-to-last clinical Physical Therapy internship at the Fondiazone di Turati in nearby Gavinana. Our apartment was well equipped with everything we needed for our 4-day visit. Lidia and Daniella also...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Villa San Simone is only 5 kms from the 14th century walls of Pistoia, a charming city of art in Tuscany. It is an antique residence located on the slopes of the hills between Pistoia and Florence (30 min. To Florence, 40 min. To Lucca, 50 min. To Pisa or Viareggio, and 60 min. To Siena and the Chianti area). The villa was built at the end of the18th century on the ruins of a Romanesque church dating from 1000 a.D. And it took its name, San Simone. It is surrounded by an age-old olive grove and woods with deer and it has got a wide shady garden. San Simone offers four (six in 2011) full equipped apartments with every kind of comfort and it has been furnished with fine design and antiques. The owners, Lidia and Sandro, who live in the Villa, are two well known architects, who restored this building in order to live in; they will welcome you to share the peace, the elegance and the beauty of Tuscan architecture and landscape. Villa San Simone is not a luxury hotel nor a villa to rent as here you will not find austere concierges, immense halls and electronic door keys. On the contrary you will enjoy the quite elegance of the place, the comfortable furniture, the magnificent green of the garden and the surrounding woods, but above all the warm welcome that will make you feel at home.Villa San Simone has a large garden (1000 sqm.) Shaded by centuries-old. Trees. The garden is surrounded by olive groves and forests and peaceful private grounds of about 60.000 Sqm., Where deer and squirrels live. The large fenced garden surrounding the Villa is at complete disposal of the guests and it is equipped with tables and chairs, comfortable armchairs, chaise-longue, barbecue, ping pong table. At a lower level there is a small fenced vegetable and flower garden with lemon and orange trees. The Villa is surrounded by a large private park where it is possible to stroll along the stream and amongst the olive trees. ... more   less
