This is the 3rd Luxury Collection hotel I’ve stayed and the property is absolutely stunning. It is perfectly manicured and equipped with several restaurants and activities. My room was beautiful with all of the amenities and view.

I do think for the price, a few amenities were lacking and service wasn’t 5 star. The staff wasn’t all that friendly. There aren’t irons in the rooms and concierge asks you send to laundry service for up to 30 per item to be ironed.

The prices are extremely expensive. If you aren’t a hotel guest, there is 80 euro charge at the lobby bar per person and 200 euro charge at Le Grand. I would suggest eating off property for more affordable options and contact your own way of taxis as 3-4 minute drives cost us around $50 to go less than mile.

One evening at the atrium bar, we were asked to move seats when we were perfectly happy and with drinks. We found it rude and seemed like the staff favors other guests.

Lastly, getting rewarded from Bonvoy for this stay has been a nightmare trying to get credit. I have been back and forth with Bonvoy because the hotel never sent a receipt. Make sure to get your receipt before checking out printed!

I would stay here again but expect more for friendliness for the VERY expensive bill.

Dear Haliee Thank you so much for the review and for sharing your experience with other travellers, as well as for being among the most loyal Guests to Marriott properties and for being part of the Bonvoy program. We are delighted to see your overall experience has been delightful and to read you were left impressed by the property and its facilities. On the other hand, we regret not to have been able to receive a direct feedback during your stay so to be able to go deeper into those parts of the experience that you are pointing out, especially on the amenities lack and on the episode of seating at the bar. As per the iron please let us clarify that Italian fire prevention law prohibits the use of iron in hotel rooms, this is why they are not part of the room set up. Guests who are residents in the hotel, paying a room rate, like you, have of course access to privileges included in their stay. For example, the minimum charge is not applied to them at the bar and they receive a discount of 50% on menu entry price at Barbecue and Le Grand. Further to this, and in order to live the dining experience at our property at the best we strongly suggest you to consider for your next stay to add half or full board package to your arrangement. This will give you the possibility to eat in our restaurants at even more advantageous offer. Our booking team will be pleased to provide you with the detailed information and you can have time to consider it until check in time. As per receipts, these are automatically issued and printed upon check out and can be also emailed, so we would be grateful if you could reach us out in case the points credit is still pending as sometimes it can take longer than expected. We are sorry if this has impacted on your overall experience, as well as we hope to have the possibility in future to show you the true, genuine, welcoming and friendly attitude we are renowned for. In thanking you once more for your most precious feedback we look forward to welcoming you and are always at your disposal for any further assistance. With the best regards Guests Experience Team

An one of a kind luxury resort. We rented a car and drove to the hotel with an ease arrival. From the check in counter to our room was less than 10 minutes. Our suite had a view of the harbor/sea view, spacious with a lovely balcony which most of the rooms have that view. They have a private pool and beach with restaurant that their boat takes you to which was so intimate. The restaurant was exceptional. It is a bit pricey but worth the dinner as a splurge is worth it. You will see yachts however, it is was congested at any time. The design of the hotel showcases Sardinia's beauty with outdoor feel and very inviting.

So overall we had a good time here but we had quite a few little niggles about this place which left us feeling a little disappointed and we wouldn't return. It feels a little corporate at times and like there's no extra little touches that leave you feeling it was special.

The positives first - the room was lovely and clean with a fresh fruit bowl on arrival and a very comfortable bed. We loved the view from our balcony and the bathroom was nice. The staff were generally very friendly and helpful too. I had the most lovely, relaxing massage and would really recommend the spa.

We loved the main bar and sitting with a cocktail. The scenery was lovely. We liked the wine and were very pleased with that. The cocktails were nice but again at 35 euros or more each they should be. We loved the little beach that you can walk to or get to by boat. It would have been useful to have a print out or some guide in the room which details of each restaurant, the beach, water sports but you can ask the concierge.

It's a luxury place so there's no surprise that it's expensive to order food and drink. However, when paying about 200 euros each for a lunch we expect it to be great quality and to say things about it like 'delicious', not just fine/decent. Overall we thought the food was okay, but having travelled a lot through Italy and having Italian friends, we know it wasn't that authentic or of the usual standard you can find in normal, local restaurants. It was just fine... On one of the days, the lobster was also so overcooked, just on a plate with nothing else including no sauce or dressing...

This leads me onto another little disappointment. I love taking time over breakfast at this type of hotel. Unfortunately the breakfast is accompanied by a swarm of wasps each morning. One or two wasps perhaps is manageable and understandable for an island, but so many on the food, around the table, around my head...? It wasn't very pleasant and meant we didn't want to stay long. There must be a nest nearby. I've never experienced that many wasps whilst eating out. Thankfully though, they didn't seem like the aggressive ones, and I wasn't ever worried about being stung. Such a shame as the scenery was so lovely and the breakfast was nice.

Finally it didn't help that on check out there were extra things on our bill which we certainly didn't order or have. For one of the days we took a trip out all day, and yet there were drinks from the beach on there plus we didn't even touch the mini-bar but had lots of items on the final bill. It was sorted out but it just added to slight feeling that this hotel was not our favourite.

I can imagine why there are some very positive reviews and 5 stars but compared to other places we have stayed it just didn't quite meet the mark for us.

Dear DBC084 Thank you very much for all your positive feedbacks and for commenting extensively your stay. About the quality of food, as you see from other comments our Guests are largely very satisfied. Focus on the lobster, there are many ways of cooking it and in your case your choice was to have it grilled, otherwise we could have offered in some other ways like Catalana style, with tomatoes and onion, or Thermidor or Greek style. Further to this, the food we just served to your party was exactly what chosen months before and we have all been very flexible to customize with personal preferences. We are all very sorry about the wasps. Unfortunately it is not a question of one nest base in our land, the wasps travel at 20 km/h and could have their nest at a distance of one km. Considering the immense green resources around it is quite impossible to identify the origin, but we have all around our restaurant different kind of traps We look forward to welcoming you and the rest of your group back to Costa Smeralda. Best regards Guests Experience Team

This resort is way overpriced for food and drinks $25-$35 for a glass of wine. Mixed drinks are $32 and up the staff service is ok they make you feel not worthy of your stay they don’t know us from the next. For the price per night their amenities should be spotless the pool chairs are worn out the cushions are ripped and the place needs a little update. they would have more people in the pool if it was heated in my 5 nights not one person in the pool. The rooms are clean but who can pay these food prices $140 for a buffet for lunch and they charge $15 for a bottled water. Insane $$$$$$ you have to take transfers to restaurants that are 5 mins away and that will cost you $45-$70 more places to pick from in Sardinia pick a hotel where you can walk to places and restaurants. Will not rebook!!!

Dear kimmV4535XF Thank you for sharing your opinion with other travellers. We are grateful you chose Cala di Volpe for your stay and appreciate all Guests’ comments. As per your feedback we would like to point out that Cala di Volpe has undergone a major renewal for the last four years with the restyling of the rooms and common areas like Le Grand restaurant and the lobby, the opening of new outlets and facilities like Beef Bar, the Shiseido Spa and the new gym. The project will continue involving also the pool and the pool area. Also next time, as we still hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back, we would invite you to book a meal plan at advantageous package rates like half board including lunch at our buffet or dinner at our Le Grand, or even the full board giving you the possibility to join the Dinearound program, which is a real culinary experience of Costa Smeralda Restaurants. Further to this, Cala di Volpe is a resort where you can indulge in a lot of activities like beach, pool, watersports, fitness, tennis, padel, but if you prefer to explore the area, then we would have recommended you to rent a car. Our concierge, as the rest of our Team, is at Guests’ entire disposal for recommendations, but most important, to help each Guest enjoy the destination to their liking and tailor their experience. Definitely we hope to have the pleasure to welcome you back and leave you with our best regards Guests Experience Team

The hotel and the grounds are absolutely impeccable… with that said the professionalism of the staff was probably the worst of any five-star resort I’ve ever been to. The waiters the door reception guys the people at the front desk were all rude and extremely unfriendly… The pricing of the drinks are absolutely outrageous. €37 for an apple spritz when I could go down the street and buy one at another five-star resort for €16…. I would not recommend this resort for people that expect five-star services…. when I was checking out paying the gentleman at the front desk, he asked me what I like to leave a tip for the staff on top of my bill…… never in my 40 years of traveling all over the world. Has anybody had the audacity to ask me for tip for the entire staff. I found it completely offensive, especially where they were so unaccommodative ……. there are plenty of other resorts on the island that have reasonable pricing and actually make you feel wanted at the resort…

Dear KevinF1905, First of all let us say we have been honoured to have you with us and thank you for sharing your experience. We always take our Guests comments seriously and we understand that, in operations, sometimes we can make mistakes. We deeply investigated with our managers, restaurant, bar and Front office in particular. The waiter who attended on your first dinner reported to us that you were satisfied. To have a better understanding of how our team has been "offensive or unaccommodative" we would have liked to know in which way this can have happened. We want to be constructive, can you give us some details so we can work on this aspect and, thanks to them, leverage the quality of our service. With reference to the food and beverage prices we accept your opinion, which we respect, but obviously we have to follow our strategy. As per the checkout episode we are deeply concerned about your comment that really does not reflect the quality of our service and professionalism of our collaborators. We indeed investigated with the person who took care of your bill. Again will you give us some details of the conversation, in fact, in Italy, unlike other countries, tipping is not mandatory and, if it happens, should be on a voluntary base. We look forward to receiving more details on what generated your dissatisfaction. You have our contacts from a previous review. Today in the morning, we waived goodbye to several customers who stayed with us for one week. Their feedback was the following: “We have travelled extensively, but never in our lives have we encountered a Team so affectionate to their job and so sincerely happy to serve Guests”. This is the common feedback that we receive from our customers and for this reason we really need to understand what happened during your stay as we want you back to the Cala di Volpe Kind regards Guests Experience Team

Given the difficult situation we were all in, a lot of our planned holiday for the year was cancelled. However, Sardinia, and more importantly, Cala Di Volpe made this a holiday to Treasure. From the amazing breakfast scenery overlooking the beautiful waters, to the scrumptious lunch bbq, this hotel made it very worthwhile. The staffs were all very pleasant, but we would like to thank in particular, Antonelli, Massimilliano, Paolo and Benjamin for their kindness. It was a real luxury hotel, and the private beach was also wonderful with their famous emerald yet crystal clear sea. The water sports activity was also within the hotel, accommodating for whatever sport we wanted to partake in. From both of us, thank you very much, and we look forward to our next visit!

We came here on our honeymoon, and had the most amazing time. We've never been somewhere more accomodating. The hotel itself is a work of art and the bellinis there are insane... worth the money. Also at the restaurants they told us if we wanted anything that wasn't on the menu, they would make it. That's hospitality on a whole new level. The restaurant at the beach club wasn't open when we made our trip, but the beach was very nice and only a 5 minute boat ride away. They helped us arrange a boat for a half day which was one of the best days of my life, swimming in the clear blue Sardinian water. We did the spa package, where we got a spa service everyday. I got my nails done and we each did massages/ couples massage. Their facilities were amazing and their staff were pros. This place is true luxury, and we will certainly be back.

I went with family in Sept. 2021. We checked in for 2 days. One of my family member's, who travels extensively and is Ambassador Elite wrote a review and I could not agree more:
One she said drinks were overcharged, WE DID NOT MEAN the price was high, she meant if the champagne was 25 euro they charged an extra 10 euro, when we mention the "overcharged " for a bottle of champagne we meant, they charged us 30 more euro that was on the menu.
Oh and yes our bill was much higher because they tacked on a dinner we did not go to.
NOW, telling her that 60% of your guests return and do not complain about price, she was only saying she was overcharged- meaning what was on the menu was more on the bill.. Yes, you took everything off the bill but no apologies, we stay at the best resorts in the world, never were we treated like we were/are peasants.
It was also mentioned an off week, yes we were there for two full days, we like to stay at a property that we can walk to everything and wanted to stay at least one night two days so we can write about it on my sisters' travel blog. Off week is an expression, BTW. oh and three mistakes on OVERCHARGING for one night, thats even worse odds.
Beautiful property yes, but service was snobby, pretentious and perhaps a bit bias. Too bad we were looking for a family getaway next summer.
Hope you all can get it together like other High end properties such as St. Regis, Rome, Florence, Le Sirenuse, Gritti...

Dear mmsisters, First let us thank you for describing Cala di Volpe as a beautiful property and for choosing to stay with us during your visit of Costa Smeralda. Regarding your comments on the postings, and as already explained answering your previous review, the wrong charges generated as you decided to change restaurant, and therefore table, after the waiter had already taken your room number to be ready for the order. It has been our mistake, it is true, not to have updated the order accordingly, and the wrong charges were only deducted upon check out. Mistakes should not happen, especially in a five stars, but during operations sometimes disruptions may verify, as hotellerie is a life learning process. On the same review, further to the explanation, we added our apologies, in line with our style and with the kind of approach that, we believe, is far from sounding snobbish or bias. We very much regret you left under this impression, and as already mentioned previously, we hope to welcome you back to Cala di Volpe in order to demonstrate to you and your family that we are not so bad, Regards Guests Experience Team

A wonderful choice for anyone’s trip to Sardinia. Suitable for couples, family or friends. The hotel is beautiful and exactly what you’re looking for from a relaxing break in Italy!
The hotel is a good mix between historical/traditional as well as being contemporary in areas, the vibe is immaculate and the attention to detail in the design is fascinating. Facilities are plentiful, food and drink is delightful with a great range of choices for both! Fitness and spa areas are well quipped, clean and pleasing on the eye. The rooms are beautiful and all a little unique. Interconnecting rooms are available.
The staff are all very friendly,
attentive and welcoming. They go out of their way to ensure your comfort and satisfaction at every opportunity.

The hotel runs a free shuttle boat from next to the pool area to the sandy, clear watered beach which doesn’t take long at all and runs very regularly. Only small issue here was the beach sellers, I say small because they didn’t bother us too much… but may bother others. There is a sunlounger service with a good choice of refreshment options, including sushi! We didn’t once feel unsafe or uneasy here. There are also well kept toilet facilities.

Evening entertainment at Cala Di Volpe with a singer and accompanying piano during our stay, the perfect pair with an evening cocktail overlooking the sparkling bay…

I will dream about this place I know... But I hope my experience can influence others to share my dream. It won’t disappoint!

Dear Travelingwithdaisy We thank you very much for sharing your beautiful comments and positive feedback. Last winter we took a huge step forward in the renovation project started in 2018, with the completion of 58 more renovated rooms, the revamp of the bar terrace and the restyling of the magnificent Penthouse Suite by Harrods Design. We hope its enchanting view dominating the bay from the rooftop terrace left you with long lasting impressions. We are delighted to read you enjoyed at the best the pleasant and relaxing atmosphere of Cala di Volpe facilities and on site amenities, and appreciate you mentioning the culinary art works of our award winning Chef. We trust you will soon return to visit us again to renew your experience and relish in this Paradise on earth. Warm regards Guests Experience Team
