If you are looking for a well run, family owned, simple hotel with breathtaking views---this is your spot. The rooms are simple, but adequate. The view from your balcony and dinner across the street at a table by the seaside is spectacular. Praiano is much...More
We 1st came here 15 years ago for our 10th wedding anniversary and came back for our 25th anniversary.
A small family run hotel which is situated between the mega busy towns of Amalfi and Positano.
Clean basic rooms with air conditioning.

It is not often that one is compelled to review, but the Open Gate Hotel at Praiano was such a case. We rang at the last minute for accommodation on the Amalfi Coast and discovered a treasure. The proprietor Pasquale was terrific. We were looked...More
Not sure why this hotel is 2 star, I loved every part of my stay. The family run hotel is like coming back to stay with old friends. The staff are polite, friendly and always willing to help every request or question.

Yes, it really is a delightful place. The owners are very hospitable and will do everything they can to make your stay comfortable. They do have a lovely restaurant that serves breakfast (included), lunch and dinner. The food was very good. We walked down the road a bit to have dinner at another place one night. Go to Trip Advisor to find the top dining places nearby. Open Gate sits high on a cliff overlooking the ocean. You can walk to the beach, but be prepared for a long walk down and even longer walk back UPHILL! You have to go about a mile down the road to get to the path down to the beach. We walked down, but not all the way to the beach. Nice walk. The beach is very tiny. Check out the old Roman Tower where an artist, Paolo Sandulli lives and works. Amazing! I chose Praiano to stay because it is not as touristy. I am so glad I did. Driving on the Amalfi Coast road is also quite an adventure, but fun!
I hope you enjoy your trip. Such a gorgeous place to be!
