We were staying in Bozen-Bolzano and looked online to see what was at the top of the gondola that went up the mountain. We decided spending Christmas Eve and Christmas night up on the plateau would be nice, and booked this hotel for the next 2 nights. (We're very glad that the first one we contacted was full.) It was...

Three really good assets: 1. Nice location offering splendid views towards some Dollomites summits 2. Excellent transport facilities (use of Ritten card) by train, bus including direct access to Bolzano city via cable-.car. No need to use car and look for parking places. 3. Excellent food and wines plus very friendly service and warm welcome.

Lovely hotel, the owners go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome and at home. Extensive breakfast buffet with fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, brown breads, croissants and cakes. Evening dinner 4 course set menu, rated as 'yummy' by children and 'delicious' by adults. But kitchen happy to make you something else - the service is so friendly and...

My husband and I stayed 5 days earlier this month and had the most wonderful experience at Hotel Lichtenstern. We had a lovely room on the 2nd floor with a private balcony overlooking a pasture and small mountains (some rooms for a small charge face The Dolomites.) The hotel is located a short 500 meters (uphill) from the train which...

We have been in this hotel for the second time and are definitely planning to come back again. Everything in the hotel is cosy including the owners, the kitchen, all the personnel and the scenery when looking out from the window. When meeting the family of the owners, one feels like we know each other for twenty years already. The...

This cozy Hotel is located in the middle of this amazing valley surrounded by the Dolomites Alps, best alps ever! You can feel the peace and silence of the mountains because the place is quite isolated form the rest of the village, even if there is small train that get you here after a 5' walk. We chose half board...

We had been lucky as we could book this hotel two days before our arrival, despite the high-season after Christmas. The hotel turned out as very cosy; we were warmly welcome and served in the best way. The room (us being very lucky) had an extraordinary view on Schlern/Sciliar and the whole mountain ridge. There may be rooms on the...

A very pleasant family run hotel. We have been coming there for the past 12-15 years. A large part of the staff has remained the same, for which we are very happy. More than 50 % of the guests seem to be returning customers. Great food (Itaian/Tyrolean), good offer of outdoor activities (excursions etc.). Friendly atmospere. The Renon/Ritten plateau is...

We sent only two nights at Hotel Lichtenstern, but wish we had spent a month. Food was great- they went out of the way to make sure our 2 year old enjoyed his dinners! The hike with the staff was a once in a lifetime event, although we will come again next year. The train station 100m away was great,...

We spent a few weeks on Ritten Hill, accessed high above Bolzano in Northern Italy by cable car. Take the narrow-gauge train from Soprabolzano (stop at Babsi's Tratorria for lunch or dinner) along the scenic hillsides towards Collalbo and get off the train at Lichtenstern. Walk up the hill to the Hotel Lichtenstern, and enjoy the spectacular view from their...
