Lake Sabaudia, within the National Park of Circeo and flowing directly into the sea, is a place where the expression, “immersed in nature” has a profound significance. Here the main attraction is Nature itself which once you arrive slowly takes over. San Francesco charming Hotel is situated on the shore: a whitemodern building whose imaginary appearance is that of a ship ready to set sail to the winds, but that, in reality, is anchored to the calm of the large garden facing the lake and where, moving in the wind, are only the numerous drapes framing the façade. From the privileged views of the hotel, the protagonist is the lake itself, with the numerous villas appearing alongthe shores, while right in front of the San Francesco hotel is the small but evocative Sanctuary of the XII century, S. Maria of the Sorresca. The story goes that this is the actual spot where fishermen had placed the statue of the Mother and Child “fished” from the lake, where now, the little church (almost entirely rebuilt) shows few traces of ancian medieval character. A touringboat offers visitors the possibility of taking a cruise along the curved borders of the lake. This is an experience to savour at The San Francesco, located only 500 meters from a private beach and sea, just over an hour from Rome and an hour and a half from the jet boats to Ponza Island from S. Felice Circeo.

Beautiful hotel and location. Few minutes from the beach. The garden is amazing and the food is cost effective and delicious. Hotel staff are welcoming and friendly -- always a pleasure. See you next year!

Amazing place to stay on a calm village, nice views and gentile people. The hotel is beautiful, they have rooms to attend some work meetings, and the garden is perfect to do afterwork. Breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner were tasty! Thanks for these good days!

Very nice location overlooking the lake, 400 m away from the beach.
Hotel just opened (april 2007), everything is new and clean.
Rooms vary in size and view (ours was not so big, but we saw others much bigger). Nice furniture.
Wonderful garden, very well furnished, ideal for relaxing and reading.
Restaurant: overall decent quality, but definitely not 4 star service (slow, at dinner it took them more than an hour to serve us a plate of pasta and a steak. Furthermore, they asked us whether they could "offer" us an aperitif: we accepted only to find it in the check... At breakfast they run out of clean glasses and plates AND we had to tell them).
Staff: people are very nice and always smiling, but seem a bit inexperienced and not always able to find a solution/answer.
Beach service: the hotel has a deal with a nearby beach club by which its guests have admission and transportation to and from it. The price of this is included in the price of the room.

Overall a nice experience, not 4 stars.

The hotel is near beach (but requires a car to safely reach it) and at a lake. Note that a dirt road pocketed with holes leads to the hotel, it can be hard to find.

Initially it was a very restful environment, with excellent care by the staff. Promised excursions were however not available (later it became clear these excursions could never have been provided: the respective locations were closed in the period they were planned for). Poor downgraded local alternatives were given as only option.

After a walk on the beach we entered the hotel and immediately got yelled at because of the sand we brought in by the owneres, who apparently thought it was normal for such a hotel to yell at their guests instead of respectfully solving a situation. Normal conversation did not seem possible and threats of calling the police and throwing us out on New Years eve were made, utterly destroying the relaxation beforehand by .

In all my years I have never ever been treated so poorly at any hotel, let alone one of this purported comfort class. And this from the owner and her management staff!
It is a pity, the general staff was very cordial and made us feel at home a lot. Still the unacceptable behaviour of the management overshadows this all.
Hence my advice: avoid this hotel

We arrived at this amazing spot and felt immediately very welcome.
We got lots of documentation of the national park we wanted to visit. They gave us info on hiking trails,...

In the morning after an extremely quiet night they treat you to a lovely Italian breakfast.
A place you have to visit when you are in the area!

My stay at this hotel was average - the hotel has great potential but needs to be updated.

My dining experience in the evening was terrible. The dining room was understaffed
and the waitress was absolutely rude.

The breakfast was much better and the waitress was great.

The front desk staff was courteous and helpful

We stayed here after 3 days in Rome. The hotel was just what we needed. The grounds are well kept and dotted with sun loungers. The decking by the side of the water was our favourite peaceful spot.
The evening meal was very nice and breakfast each morning was a lovely spread.
The beach is a 10/15min walk away, but the hotel provided a free transfer service. Lots of other restaurants to try along the coast for lunch, dinner or an evening drink.
We got the train and bus out of Rome, in hindsight, we should have pre-booked a local taxi for when we arrived in sabaudia as the hotel taxi was a bit pricey for the distance covered. It did arrive within 5mins of asking though!
I would stay here again if in the area and would definitely recommend a beach break after Rome!

The name says a lot, it is a charming hotel indeed! The hotel is located on the lakeshore a few hundred yards from the sea. The property is hidden from the street, and once you enter the gates, you are greeted by a classy building with on its own gorgeous park, green meadows, flowers, trees casting the shadows where you can relax on comfortable day beds.

The hotel is new, well run, elegantly appointed, all consistent with the 4* rating. The service, however, is easily 5* or possibly more. Here are just two examples:

The first night at the restaurant we asked to try a sampler of appetizers. Instead we were served four full portion appetizers as a compliment, an the owner explained that since we were the new guests, she wanted us to sample the dishes that her chef was preparing.

The second one happened when we went to the beach (the hotel has a number of front-row beds at the nearby private beach that are included in the room rate). We took a shuttle and forgot to take the beach towels. It took us a few minutes to explain the beach worker that we did not have the towels and he left to fetch some for us. As we were waiting, Konstantino from the hotel came by with two towels: the staff at the hotel realized that we left without the towels and sent him to take care of us.

Truly a delightful experience at a truly charming hotel!

Everything was super! It's the only one word for this hotel. Thanks A LOT to Silvia (reception) and other personal, also waiters!)
Everybody helps you and wants to help, even if you're not Italian. It's not a problem here.

The food in the restaurant is much better than in the other restaurants on the beach and in Sabaudia.

Every 30 min. (timetable) you can get to the beach on the car fo free! And return to the hotel.

So, in conclusion i'd like to say: THANK YOU, Il San Francesco Charming Hotel! :)
