An exclusive family-run retreat in the heart of San Cassiano - a charming mountain village in Italy's Unesco-protected Dolomites - Rosa Alpina is an Aman Partner Hotel providing unparalleled access to the winter sport haven of Dolomiti Superski in winter. It is also ideal for exploring the region's natural beauty and outdoor pursuits year round.
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
The hotel is located in the centre of town, which is very convenient, but means the views of the mountains beyond townscape. Two of our bedrooms were comfortable and quiet, though one bedroom in single occupancy was small and did not have good soundproofing from adjoining rooms. The bathroom in the corner suite was also small. Beds very comfortable with good pillows and bed linen and all was clean. The main (St Hubertus) restaurant is amazing and speical. The other restaurant in the hotel is good, and there are other good restaurants within walking distance. The walks from here are many and beautiful and the concierge service (under the incredibly helpful Fabio) organise restaurant booking, walks and guides if needed. He also sent some items carelessly left behind by me.
The spa is very good - needed after a day’s walking . The Gymn is not open until 8am. THe library is a lovely space, but it adjoins the games room, so is not a quiet place to sit and read.
The concierge is also able to book taxis for you, but, something I learned from a previous Trip Adviser review, it is better to use a local company called Taxi Badia, as this is less expensive, efficient and the drivers are very good. They collected us from the airport, took us into Venice and organised a boat taxi to get us to our hotel, and they took us and collected us from different walking locations. Info@taxibadia.it.
In summary, can highly recommend the Rosa Alpina and hope that we return soon!

We returned to Rosa Alpina because the first visit was so enjoyable. Once again, the service was excellent, the suites were very comfortable, and the St Hubertus restaurant was a culinary spectacle.
They provide little cakes and biscuits in the room as well as good branded quality water bottles and rucksacks. The spa is also good.
The concierge service will handle all the skiing requirements from equipment hire to booking lessons.
The only small criticisms I have are: - they need another transport van during the seasons as we were left waiting for too long, and - the beds have two separate duvets and we prefer one large duvet.

This is a magical hotel in a magical region of Italy. In the heart of the magnificent Dolomites, we enjoyed the hotel’s comfy rooms, lovely spa, 3 delicious restaurants, amazing concierge support, friendly service, fun bar with nightly wonderful piano player - all on a very humane scale and a welcome change from massive resort hotels. The hiking at our doorstep was fabulous! We spent 5 nights and wished for 5 more!

I cant write enough to explain how fantastic this hotel is. The staff think of everything ahead of you needing it, they are ALL so professional, willing and just fabulous. I don't think I've had service like that. Nothing was too much, I damaged my leg skiing and they went beyond to help me every day. What a hotel, the restaurants are second to none. We loved relaxing in every area of the hotel, the pianist most evenings was a delight. The wealth of detail in every area incredible...just beautiful. We treated ourselves to the Chefs table in the St Hubertus which as described above was beyond expectation, the flavours, the unusual sustainable, local dishes made our mouths water. Superb. We will definitely be coming back to enjoy this ultimate experience again. Thank you so much to all

The Rosa Alpina very nearly lives up to its price (luxury never seems like entirely good value to a puritan like me, so this is as much as one could ever say about an expensive hotel!). Wonderful and friendly service. Nothing too much trouble, from the care they take with your ski equipment to the transfer to the slopes to the service at breakfast. They even let me play my oboe for an hour a day in the yoga room. Wonderful swimming pool, and spa. Excellent breakfast (boiled eggs perfect (at 6.5 minutes) after the first day).
If the guest rooms were brought slightly up to date in terms of style (but this is a personal view), with a cooler, more minimalist, brighter, more streamlined look, rather than the quaint and rustic look of today, this hotel would be perfect.

Thank you for your review, for your next stay, if you'd like to have a more modern room try one of our loft suite or one of the suites of Chalet Zeno. Not so quaint and with a more contemporary look and feel :-) Looking forward to welcoming you again in Rosa Alpina, warmest regards Rachele Belladelli

this was our second visit as we wanted to have dinner at norbert niederkoflers restaurant again. as we traveled with our two girls we had to book a suite overlooking the mainroad in st. cassiano (not very pleasant). the room offered enough space for us and is slightly dated. during our last stay the hotel belonged to lhw and the roomprices were high but ok. this time the price was much higher and the kids were charged at a unusual high extra. breakfast was not at the same high level as comparable hotels. when asking for an offer they will send you a tariff that does not include the taxes!! so be aware. this is the only italian or even european hotel that does not offer the real prices and does only indicate the taxes and extras in the small print! in most european countries this practice is not allowed by law.

Hotel Rosa Alpina is possibly my favourite hotel ever. We stayed at the hotel with 3 other couples at the end of a ski safari. While we had a fantastic time skiing through the Dolomites and staying at rifugios, the three nights we spent at Rosa Alpina was heaven on a stick.
The hotel is beautifully appointed (we adored our upgrade to a suite with views over the slopes, open fire, comfortable bed and the best shower ever. We all enjoyed spa treatments at the lovely in-house spa, saunas, spas, gym and pool.
Breakfast was wonderful in a large sunny room. Drinks in the bar in the evening were also very special -Paolo made us feel like VIPs remembering our drink orders and recommending new suggestions. The piano man (25 years at the hotel and counting) felt like a new friend.
Indeed it was the personal touches and the unfailingly friendly and helpful staff that truely made our group’s trip memorable. From hotel manager Stefani to room service and car service - nothing was too much trouble and they absolutely spoiled us with attention. Thank you all.

we went there to stay for the night after eating at its 3 starred "Restaurant St. Hubertus". (see my review about it in its section)
We also appreciate its wellness and SPA center.
It's 5 stars so we can expect top services and details.
I can say we got them: warm and careful people on concierge and staff, nice suite, every detail well cared. Its SPA it's a little and fine, we got swimming pool, 2 different saunas and a steam room. If I have to raise an observation, I would say no freash water in sauna zone for customers. Breakfast af morning well cared and of high level: no pre-prepared items.
I can see a good place.

Stayed dozens of times -the last one in March this year just before lockdown. Impeccable service and design - amazing staff and attention to detail
It's worrying that the hotel has announced it is ending its independence and becoming a fully branded Aman in December 2022.
We will see whether it can maintain the things we love about it - but given so much was due to its independent owners, as Rosa Alpina lovers, we worry about its future.

We just love this hotel. Third visit and still can't fault anything. Such a relief that despite it being bought by a larger chain, it still feels like the wonderful family run hotel. It isn't flash and people looking for that may be disappointed, but for us it is a class establishment that really understands the true meaning of customer service. Every single member of staff is delightful and really go out of their way to make your stay there absolutely perfect.
I still think the breakfast there is the best anywhere. We love the bar in the evening - special thanks to the wonderful barmen.
Already thinking about next year's trip.

Dear Tom and Stella
greetings from Rosa Alpina :-)
I'll try to answer your questions for your ski holiday.
Ski rentals and ski school can be arranged directly at the hotel, we feature a ski package that includes already the equipment and we can help you selecting the instructor that best works for you. The property is downtown San Cassiano and the lifts are at approx. 700 mas and we provide complimentary car service to it throughout the whole day. Best airports to fly into are Venice (approx. 2 hours and 30 minutes drive) or Innsbruck (2 hours drive).
There are a few shops in town, a couple of very nice and trendy women's designer stores, gastronomy products shop, ski equipment and ski clothing stores.
I hope it helps, Rachele
Hello from Rosa Alpina!
If you wish to reach the property by train your best option is catching a train to Bressanone and from there you'll have to take different buses to reach the destination
By bus the best way is going to Cortina d'Ampezzo, in Cortina change and take another bus to Alta Badia which stops in San Cassiano
Buonasera :-)
