Detailed Reviews
My family and I booked this hotel during the TransAlp MTB race. It was steps away from the finish line in the center of San Martino. Incredibly kind and attentive service. The rooms were cozy and very charming.

We had a very pleasant stay. The staff is polite and helpful. We definitely were there not in the season and many of the other hotels were closed as were the majority of the shops and restaurants. Our room was clean and had a magnificent view of the mountains. The breakfast had a nice fresh selection of food. We were sorry we could not stay longer.

Hotel has seen better times long ago. Maybe in 70'. Today looks sad and sleepy. Room was ok, clean but with tinny walls, creaky bed... Price Is correct but these hotel Is not for demanding guests. Parking Is big problem. Breakfast not so good.

Response from smrpio, Proprietario at Hotel La Montanara
Responded Jul 5, 2016
Mr. Vlado, I can not remember who are you; Are you is sure to be a guest here at the Montanara? The hotel was renovated in 2004 so it seems impossible that may seem from 70s. Maybe next time it is better that you book in a higher category hotels. A Hotel for demanding Guest.

staying in Montanara hotel is relaxing, comfortable and it seems to be in your own family. owners and personnel are so kind you feel at ease in any situation: they are always available and try to give their best for you.
Rooms are typical, large, tidy and clean; we had a wonderful corner room with a big bed, nice wardrobe and two balconies. the bathroom was not so big, but it fitted us.
breakfast and above all dinner were wonderful and tasty. the dinner had at minimum six choices and a lot of cakes and sweets to choose. even if the breakfast had few salted choices, it was good and genuine.
the position of the hotel is perfect: it is in the city center and allows you to get everywhere in a short time.
moreover, there is an alpine guide who leads you three times a week in the wonderful trips of Dolomites, free of charge!

We spent 10 days at La Montanara visiting from California last December. We had a wonderful time at this hotel, the room was impeccable, friendly service, beautiful views and the food....... OMG the food!! The Hotel's ambiance is very family oriented, warm and cozy. It's central location makes it easy to get anywhere into the little village of San Martino or to the sky buses, no need to take your car out.
We definitely recommend this beautiful Hotel and we hope to return soon.

We went to San Martino di Castrozza for a long weekend to ski, hiking and relax. It takes a while to reach San Martino but we highly recommend to visit this place, surrounded by the most beautiful mountains scenery we have ever seen. The hotel la Montanara is perfectly located and for hotels in this category it offers services above average. It is the ideal choice for people who prefer to stay in a cozy family run hotel instead of the usual big chain hotels. The style is traditional but not overloaded with kitsch Tyrolese decorations, as it is often the case in this area. What we liked the most was the breakfast buffet, which besides "cappuccino e brioche" offers an amazing selection of cakes! (but no worries, non-italians can also opt for continental breakfast).
To be recommended!

when you are on holiday and book a room you are not renting four walls but you expect to be welcomed.
Forget this in this hotel which also has its strong points in its location and cleanliness, as well as a decent breakfast.
I have rarely felt such discomfort when meeting other human beings; the owner is so busy that she can't even reply to the greeting, let alone if a problem should arise for which you need her help (it has happened but it would take a long time to explain)!
I don't know why people with these poor social skills do this job but anyway...
I wouldn't go back even if I died because you don't go back to where you perceive that the only thing they like about you is the money you leave.

The structure is new and is in the center of the village. Staff of high professionalism and competence.... politeness and cleanliness here are the order of the day........ throughout our stay we had the pleasure of meeting people who made their work "a masterpiece" and always at the service of their customers. Excellent value for money. Adjacent to the hotel is the "Montanara terrace" run by the children of the hotel owners, where you can enjoy high-quality gourmet cuisine and drink excellent wines, prosecco and aperitifs. Definitely to go back....... in a word: the hotel and the Montanara terrace? the top!!!!!! Word of Expert Vacationer!!!!!
