We spent a few days in San Martino in this hotel for second time. The staff were really lovely, hotel was extremely clean always. The food was great. The spa/wellness area was also great - with an amazing view of the mountain peaks.
The hotel is a 3 stars but the owners are 5 stars!

We spent a few days in San Martino in this hotel and the service was excellent.
We took 3 rooms. One was really big and very confortable. The other two were regular size. All very clean.
The mattresses are very good. The location is great and the views from the balconies is breathtaking.
The hotel is a 3 stars but the owners are 5 stars!
Always ready to assist in every possible way.
And Thomas rocks!
This family operated hotel has also steam-bath and sauna and in my opinion is great for families with kids as well as pet friendly.
We had a great time. They even organized a tour to the Stradivarius Forrest and Maurizio explained us all about the natural wildlife in there.
Great location near lifts.
Small and not crowded town.

I have been there for several years in a row because I know Maurizio (the owner) and his team are always very charming and welcoming. We usually gather a large group and the hotel is always very accommodating, even waiting for us at late hours with some prosecco to celebrate our arrival.
I strongly recommend!

Very attentive service made us feel right at home. Amazing breakfast and great dinner at hotel restaurant. Cozy wooden room with spectacular views (we got a newly refurbished corner room). Brand new, fully equipped sauna with glass walls and stunning mountain views (only open 17:00 – 19:00)

The view of the Pale di San Martino is breathtaking, but it is not enough to make a stay in this hotel acceptable. Rude owner, rooms in need of renovation, dirty dining room. Sin! Only the SPA, when/if it is open, allows a positive opinion. For the rest, I don't find myself in the positive reviews. Are they fake? They certainly don't reflect this terrible place. I strongly advise against it. San Martino does not deserve this bad publicity.

I can only agree with the terrible previous reviews, in fact I doubt whether the positive ones are not real. The hotel has an old and unmaintained structure, the rooms are cramped with old and often non-functioning furniture, in my room the bathroom door had a broken lock and the shower latch was broken. The water pressure was absolutely inadequate. The common areas are dirty and show obvious signs of aging (humidity on the roof in the restaurant), the reception is often not manned. The food offered at dinner seems like that of a school canteen with dishes that are often repeated, breakfast is a race to see who gets there first, if you wake up late you find almost nothing.
Fortunately, the rudeness and surliness of the owner was blunted in a bit by the poor staff on duty who tried to make life in the hotel decent but with very few results. In conclusion: if you want to live in a nightmare, go to this hotel, otherwise you can enjoy the splendid San Martino di Castrozza by relying on better facilities that you can easily find at the same prices.

Unfriendly Owner. The wellness area is only open to a limited extent from 5 pm to 7 pm. The steam cabin was not turned on. We had to ask for that a day later...
No kettle in the room.
For boiled water, 28 euros was charged.
Summary breakfast.

I stayed at this property with a group for a week (I did not choose the hotel, those I usually select are not even remotely comparable) I associate myself with the negative reviews, bad experience, I could not define this hotel, not to mention the owner.... start in order the negative notes:
1)garage, dark and in the first part full of thrown and stacked things
2) reception and non-existent bars, there is never anyone, if you need something you have to phone
3) the lobby is very big and full of sofas but dark and sad
4) the rooms are large but dated (I was in the 304) as well as the bathrooms (in the closet there are four crutches, I left practically everything on the other double bed in the room, one of the 3 windows in the room without a roller shutter with a small curtain that closed in the middle, so in the morning it was early morning!!!...... broken bathroom window.... lack of light in the evening even on the landing
5) breakfast room and dinner aesthetically sufficient, buffet menu of paltry and repetitive side dishes as well as the breakfast buffet.
6) the SPA is chargeable but not working for a long time (but is not told at booking)
7) the garden and the outside of the structure are bare and not cared for (without flowers or other decor elements), there are no chairs or sun loungers for those who want to sunbathe, I had to lie on the grass
8) I had asked for a vegan menu for me and my husband (communicated a month before our arrival), except the first and some side dishes were not able to prepare me anything decent for the second (it's the first time I happen and after three days we decided to eat out) ... for breakfast except bread, jam rusks and vegetable milk (fruit you have to ask), I had to get the necessary.
9)the owner is arrogant and unavailable
Positive aspects: very kind and helpful Lucia in the dining room.
In conclusion, the hotel can be good for those who want to spend little, but very little, compared to the others in San Martino and is content to stay in a half "catapecchia"
I'll add some pictures.

we are returning from our stay at Hotel Paladin in San Martino di Castrozza
What puzzled me was that it was sold to me by a local operator.
"first initiatives" that should have known how the facility is run or maybe it would be better to say unrun

Any store or anything in talking during the week they told me
that it's hard to run a hotel for everyone and particularly if a man does
without the right supports

difficult management by a holder in perhaps understanding the needs of customers
projected in a work not suited to its way of being

simple structure but in the end the flaws are overcome if they are counterbalanced
with attention or food or anything feasible to make you feel at home

There is no receptionist here if you want to see someone even at the reception or bar
you have to call internally
so no bar open during meal times
only if requested

we saw last day because you had to pay tourist tax

uncertain staff perhaps even unsuitable given the various roles played in the impotent day in the face of any request since 'everything was in the decision
of the holder

infuriating slowness in providing meals

interior hall that was not experienced own for the general coldness only
soft lights even outside lack of bartender
that could have kept alive the environment and group to meet and
exchange 2 words

if we want to define as television format titles
" hotel nightmare "
What I don't accept is because it was sold to me and not cheap.
by operator
which would be responsible for filtering structures to avoid inconveniences
to customers
