The Malga Giau was one of the accommodations on our hut tour.
The food was better than any other hut. Both the dinner and the breakfast were really good. The room and bathroom were clean and well furnished. The view and the terrace are great. We knew the owner from Rif Biella a few years ago, she runs the hut with her family and is very nice. I would actually give the hut 5 stars, but we booked a room for 8 and ended up in a room for 10. A makeshift bunk bed was set up here, which was much too small and uncomfortable. Luckily four guests didn't come, so we were able to sleep in a normal bunk bed.

Stayed for 1 night during a 5 day Dolomites refugio walking trip. Not fancy but impeccably clean and Barbara, the owner, is so very welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble, a really lovely person and a top place to stay.

If you get the chance to spend some time here during your AV1 hike, then don`t miss it. It is a small and really nice and cozy rifugio, the people are so hospitable, and - unlike many other places - you can really see and taste that they care abort the food they serve.
Warmest recommendations.

I stayed in this rifugio for one night during my Alta Via hikking. The haus is completely renovated and is very cozy. Managers are more than hospitable and creates atmosphere of real family house in the middle of beautiful Dolomites.
Comfortable beds, good food and fantastic and calm rest.
