We stayed in the croft suites which were well worth the extra money given we were steps away from the spa, and our unit came with a hot tub which was great when we wanted some privacy when the spa pools were busy. Check in & out was quick and easy, all staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed having access to trails right on-site. Though our unit was a bit worn down and some things could really use some replacing it was very clean. Overall it was a great experience especially as a couple, I would go back again.

Hotel's Favourite
My wife and I just spent two nights at the Millcroft Inn in Alton Ontario. Overall we were very impressed with the service and attention to details. The day at the Spa was very relaxing and the pools were not very busy which was nice. We had a nice dinner at the restaurant and was matched with a very nice bottle of burgundy. The grounds were nice to walk around. Not a lot of activity in the area which made it easy to relax and stay put on the property.

The grounds are absolutely beautiful. We attended for an outdoor wedding. The room was spacious with a very large washroom and shower (it took awhile for the water to heat up, and the pressure was less than ideal but the soap and shampoo were lovely). I found the bed too soft but that is a matter of taste, the bedding and pillows were very fresh and clean. The dining room food was expensive and not great BUT the wedding reception food was 5 star. We did not use any of the SPA facilities so cannot comment.

My room was great and the bed wonderful. Had such a great sleep! The staff were friendly, polite and so willing to help. This is a place I highly recommend and would definitely come back to. The trees were just starting to change colour, beautiful. The firepits with surrounding chairs welcomed all to sit & visit.

Just had some great Spa treatments and a charcuterie board and all the staff has been amazing! All the amenities are easy to access and the room is very clean and functional, with a hot tub!! This is our second time here because the restaurant food is fantastic and the area is beautiful and quiet!

This two day trip was booked as a group almost one year ago. Upon arrival we were split into two buildings. We personally were assigned a cramped sub standard room on the top floor with the building’s air conditioner running directly above us. It was late when we returned to the hotel so did not realize how noisy the unit was. We got very little sleep and early the next day we asked for another room and were moved into another building. The main hotel is undergoing renovations currently which we not warned about. In my opinion the standard of accommodation in this hotel does not warrant the large price tag, all the rooms I saw look tired. I must add that the staff were polite and friendly and the spa area is very nice.

The good: The spa is lovely and the dinner is excellent while very pricey. The grounds are also very nice. The not so good: The website wording is very misleading. It states that the deluxe rooms are in the manor house with one in the main mill with private balcony. so when I booked a deluxe room and the main mill was available, that's what I thought I was getting. instead I was in a small drab room next to two under construction. when I asked reception about it, they were confrontational, rude and argumentative. they eventually changed us to a deluxe room in the manor house but were reluctant to do so. When I showed them the wording on the website, they were still combative to the point where I left shaking I was so upset. I was not looking for a refund or upgrade, merely acknowledgement. To make matters worse, I contacted Vintage Hotels since I've had wonderful experiences at their other properties and they did not even respond.

Overall I might go again and as far as Ontario resorts go, it is very good. It is not 5-star, though, and I am still on a quest to find a property that I want to return to regularly (this isn't it). Pillar and Post, another Vintage hotel, is one where I have gone to repeatedly and been very happy with. So while it is not 5-star, it is also not 5-star priced, so that is fair. Think of it as a 4-star that is quite good. It has a beautiful property and lovely pools and the food quality at Headwaters is very good (e.g., better than many 4-star resorts in Ontario but not like a high-end restaurant). The rooms are nice but not fancy or modernized, robes are great, bed was comfortable. The drawback here was the service style, although to many this may not be a concern. The service in the restaurant and at front desks (of spa and hotel) was friendly, well meaning and clearly trained to deliver a highly specific style of service. So while the attentive and cheerful staff are doing a good job, whoever is training them is using a model that is outdated, provincial and a bit cringy. This led us to avoiding the restaurant. The training includes phrases like “what are we thinking of having tonight?”, and when you ask for anything the response is “of course!” and to every answer you provide they say “perfect”. If this sounds too picky of me (fair enough...) then you will be very happy here. But if you're annoyed by the invasion of corporate service "How are the first few bites tasting?" then think twice.

My daughter and I stayed at the Crofts which was right beside the hot springs and pool area. The parking lot was also close to the Crofts which was an added bonus. The Crofts is like a small cabin and has a private hot tub outside of the room. We had the summer package which I would highly recommend. This included breakfast and dinner. The food was delicious. I had the beef tenderloin, and my daughter had the lobster. The customer service was exceptional which made our stay memorable. If you go, ask for Fred the waiter. He will show you the meaning of what the best customer service should look like.
