Set in a beautiful location this hotel could be the scene for a marvelous holiday . The restaurant was good and the view from the terrace is amazing . Unluckily having to wait 48 minutes to be served a drink on the terrace , the smell of smoke in the room , not mentioning the rudeness of a waiter when we asked a coffee at breakfast ( he told us there was quite a while to wait ) did not put us in a happy place . Finally , cherry on the cake , when we were checking out we tried to explain to the manager why these things should not happen in a hotel whose nightly rate is 300 euros for a very simple room with no black out curtains , she just would not listen and waived the 20 euro per person daily fee for the beach ! We were just trying to give her a feedback , albeit a negative one . Irene Granelli…
Sestri Levante was unknown to me before I visited there and stayed at Grand Hotel dei Castelli. I was on a tour with Holiday Vacations in Italy. The hotel was high on a cliff side with the Liguorian Sea on both sides. The rooms were spacious and beautifully appointed. The food and dining area were exceptional. There was a terrace outside with bar service and a spectacular view. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Location is superb. The views are amazing. Rooms are very comfortable, even for work. Breakfasts are excellent. Definitely is a perfect choice to spend some excellent days in the coast of Liguria, even out of season.
This hotel and surrounding gardens is an excellent spot to enjoy Italian hospitality, decor and natural surroundings. A converted Genovese fortress, the hotel is restored with impressive period details, a truly grand central stairwell, striking views of the sea from high atop the resort city of Sestri Levante which is served by private elevators. The staff was very helpful overcoming the inevitable travel disruptions. A short 20-min walk to the train station puts the visitor in easy commute to the Cinque Terre towns of Monterosso, Vernazza and Manarola. Rooms are small, a quirky interior elevator and AC a bit wanting but overall an impressive hotel.
Very disappointing experience: - Cockroach in the bathrooom, this was really disgusting - Air conditioning poorly works - The personnel invites you to go to the swimming pool, does not mention that it is 20€/ day and then invoices you the amount in your final bill Clearly not in line with what we can expect from an expensive 4 star hotel
