I had the pleasure to visit this hotel for two nights in September 2019. The place seemed to be a typical one for tourists. It was full of that kind even in the early fall.

An upgrade would not harm but all in all the standard was all right.

The real advantage is the location so close to the beach. A coming back in summertime is realy tempting.

The old town of Terracina is fantastic with its buildings and monumets dating even from BC. Must be seen again in this life.

We visit Terracina every year and have stayed in the Hotel Poseidon several times, we love it and find the location excellent so are just about to book to go back again this year! Terracina is a small town and easy to get about, there are many restaurants & bars nearby and lots of beach cafes dotted along the lovely lungomare (seafront)! The rooms are lovely.....the hotel has a lovely relaxing atmosphere and the staff and owners are always on hand to help and give good advice......great service, cant wait to get back!

We were 2 adult couples who spent 2 weeks in Hotel Poseidon in September 2011.
Positive: The hotel is situated very close to the beach. The pool area is nice and clean with a nice garden. The staff is very helpful and service minded. The rooms are of average size and so are the balconies and the toilets/baths.

Negative: The hotel is situated 2 km (at least) from the city and at least 500 m from the super market (a long distance when you have to carry 6 x 1,5 l water). There are only 2 restaurants in walking distance between the hotel and the city. They do not serve the best Italian food. There is only one taxi in town and the driver will not drive after 11 pm. You have to make an appointment with the driver to pick you up from down town and drive you back to the hotel - unless you want to walk 2 km after your dinner. There is no restaurant in the hotel - only a bar. They do have sandwiches for lunch - if there is any left when you want to eat - and if you want to have dinner at the hotel they have a few pasta dishes - prepared in the micro wawe oven.
The furniture on the balcony is of plastic and not very comfortable.

My wife and myself stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks, and enjoyed the hotel very much. The pool area was very nice and the bar where you could buy beverages and food. There was also a free internet point in the lobby, but you ha've had to bring your own laptop. The staff was very kind and informative.

Everything about the Poseidon is excellent, from the rooms with balconies, the friendly and helpful staff and the overall ambience of the hotel. Breakfast was very well catered for and the special deal for dinner at a nearby restaurant was fabulous and very reasonable .

If the purpose with your stay is to visit Rome you should be aware that the hotel location is far from optimal. Without rental car you have to go by buss or train, and whatever you choose it takes 1 hour+ to reach Rome.

The hotel it self is of pretty good standard, Nothing special but a typical 3-4 star hotel. Nice restaurant, pool within the hotel premises and a nice and loooong sand beach no more than 100 meters from the hotel reception.

Ideally for a family summer holiday if the weather is nice so you can enjoy the beach. Except for the beach there is not so much nearby to brag about however.

Terracina as such is more or less divided in two city parts - old town and tourist hotel town.
The old town is like a traditional coastline town mixed of tradition and tourist attractions. Worth a visit!
The other part, where the hotel is situated, is however somewhat of a disappointment. Hotels and beach and that's it. The neighborhood at the backside of the hotel is shady and nothing that I can recommend.

The Terracina train station is situated in the old town and it takes approx 40 minutes reaching it if preferred walking. The train departures two times per day and you better be awake early since you need to catch the same train as the persons traveling to work in the morning. The train trip it self takes about 55 minutes.

All in all I could consider giving a 4 star rating depending of the travel purpose. But being a bit objective taking the location into consideration I would say a 3+ is more accurate.

Free Wifi and room size is a plus. The professionalism of the staff is mixed, some service minded and some not. The cleaning of the room was OK. Some missed spots but overall decant.

Family and summer time - recommended
Back packer, or off season - not recommended

Doesn't even begin to describe it... The pictures don't do the place justice. Usually the pictures are different from the real thing and it happened this time but because the place is beautiful and you can't capture that. The garden is well kept and everyone is really nice. I will definitely be coming back to this place and I plan on recommending it to everyone!!!
