The Hotel Castel is an exceptionally beautiful luxury hotel in Dorf Tirol in South Tyrol. We know many 5-star hotels in South Tyrol and Austria and the Castel is next level! Very classy and elegant with outstanding gourmet food and perfect service.
Location: Dream location in Dorf Tirol with a view over Merano into the Etschtal and towards Vinschgau.
Rooms: We had 2 petit double rooms with a connecting door. One petit double room is ideal for single use, it is very well thought out with plenty of storage space and a modern bathroom with a large shower. The very comfortable bed has a view of the mountains. There is also a large balcony with a wonderful view! The option with a connecting door is perfect, so everyone has their own large bed and you are still together.
Food: The finest indulgence! Egg dishes and tea are served at breakfast, and you can find everything you need at the buffet. At lunch there is an Ă la carte menu for an additional charge, which we didn't try because we were out and about. The evening meal is wonderful! Beautiful atmosphere in the winter garden with a panoramic view of Tyrol Castle and the surrounding mountain peaks, among others. The gala dinner on Sunday was a perfect start. Every day, the individual courses of the menu were a special treat, the quality and presentation stand out from other half-board menus that we have already experienced.
Fine Dining by Gerhard Wieser: An unforgettable evening with a world-class gourmet experience! The ambience, the service and the unbelievable number of courses and little surprises were brilliant! Highly recommended!!
Service: Perfect! Everyone in the hotel is attentive and very friendly. You feel very comfortable from the first to the last second. Special thanks to housekeeping, our room was always cleaned while we were having breakfast, we really appreciated that.
Pools: The indoor pool is very nice, partially covered by a winter garden at the front so that you also have a nice view from inside. The outdoor pool was too cold for me, but we were also unlucky with cold weather. The garden looks beautiful and I definitely have to come back in a warmer season and enjoy it!
Spa: Pleasantly quiet and elegant spa area. I really enjoyed the spa pedicure and the facial treatment, thanks again to Anna!

We stayed in Hotel Castel in July for four nights. It was so amazing; I wish we had booked it for a longer stay. I selected a suite and a double room for my family. Both the suite and double room were of outstanding quality, every detail was meticulously catered for. The rooms are modern, stylish, spacious and sparkling clean. The view from the suite was breath-taking, the balcony furniture was classy and very soft and comfortable to lay on.
The food was absolutely divine, beautifully presented, fresh and so very delicious. We had half board so could enjoy the cuisine both at breakfast and dinner. The hotel staff were warm and friendly, they were professional and helpful. The house keepers serviced the rooms efficiently and discreetly.
The pool and wellness areas are new, modern, with stunning views across the mountains. There is a great gym and pool/games room. We did experiences some of the many wellness treatments available and each were a great experience.
I loved everything about this hotel and can highly recommend it, not only for couples and adults but for families with teenaged children as well. It was the perfect place to spend quality time together relaxing and enjoy all the services this superb hotel has to offer.

Courteous, very attentive service in all areas Tasteful, quiet atmosphere throughout the hotel Magnificent location with beautiful views and many opportunities for interesting design in the immediate area. This small, fine, elegant 5-star hotel is situated in a very privileged location with exclusive views over the Merano countryside. Inside, there is pleasant tranquility in high-class, noble furnishings. Our room with balcony is spacious, elegant and well equipped. The terraces restaurant is comfortable and has a unique view of the wonderful landscape. Whether breakfast or dinner, everything is top quality and at a very high level. Especially at theme nights, the gourmet heart beats higher. The service is always very friendly, strives, unfortunately lacks in part the professional competence. Too bad that's not enough to keep up with the level of cuisine. At the Dobitsch family and the Castel team we experienced an unforgettable week and looked forward to breakfast and dinner every day.

The very stylish hotel is wonderfully located (with great views), with beautiful rooms (however rooms without air conditioning?), restaurants, convincing SPA area and also convincing outdoor areas
What is missing are somewhat the ambience or soul as well as employees who give the hotel and their guests a really great feeling of well-being as well as living the motto of the house "enjoy with all your senses". Because already on arrival you feel more like a troublemaker at the reception than a warm welcome. So the staff barely had time to show us the room, let alone the rest of the hotel complex. Likewise, there is a lack of sufficient staff, both at dinner and breakfast (no one covers for...). At the SPA we never met any person (of the hotel)... Somehow it works reasonably, but by no means at 5-star level!

The hotel, with its fantastic location in the middle of the vineyards and a view of Merano, is excellently equipped with modern facilities. The staff is highly motivated and friendly/accommodating. Everything is just right here. I have never experienced a hotel where accommodation, cuisine, wellness and location form such a unity. Extremely friendly staff in all areas, star-worthy half-board cuisine, immaculately clean rooms and a spacious sauna and wellness area. As sporty people in their early 70s, we felt a little too young, but overall the guests were very dignified and friendly. Very attentive family owners who really look after each guest.
