The hotel was fabulous. It ticked every box. The view was spectacular the hotel staff were so lovely and accommodating. Pawel took the time to help me with my Italian conversation. Our room was very good and the balcony view was so special . The hotel manager ( and his brother) were there frequently and really cared you were having a great experience.
The old town was an easy walk and beautiful. The beach was an easy walk down steep walk up but after a day on such a beach you can’t really complain!
A special hotel and town .

Not only were we lucky enough to find lodging for an impromptu trip to Calabria in day's notice, but we also were lucky enough to score the suite. The rooms were very clean and well-thought out. The bed...was a dream! The bath products were very good quality and having slippers in our premium room was a nice touch. We loved having the jacuzzi at our disposal, but since it has limited hour usage and being there only one night we only got 15 mins of usage.. But that was plenty of time to see how wonderful it was. Finally, the views are the absolute showstoppers. Being able to wake up to the beautiful beach of Tropea right outside our balcony door was amazing. Parking was easy to find on the residential road outside the door and dinner was easily accessible by foot. It was great to walk to both the beach and the town in under 10 minutes too. Last, but not least was our amazing breakfast. It was a continental buffet spread, but ordered and delivered by the wonderful staff. We absolutely recommend this beautiful hotel for its warmth, cleanliness and the special treatment by their amazing staff. Our warm welcome by Paula was just the start. Our breakfast servers/bar keepers were absolute gems and the checkout personnel was so considerate and offered us bottled water for the road. Be sure to splurge for the upgraded rooms and enjoy everything this beautiful hotel has to offer.

Room Tip: Get an upgraded view for the views... And pack beach shoes as the shore is rocky.

This boutique hotel was a wonderful getaway, we had a wonderful time thanks to the amazing staff. We would like to express our gratitude towards Cristina, Romina, Luciana, Noémi, Giovianni and Massimo. They have made our stay just perfect, very social and relaxing. They were always there to answer questions, help us with recommendations regarding things to do in Tropea, but also regarding the breakfast, coffee, cocktails, wine,… Moreover, the meals and beverages were splendid in the hotel. Everything
Furthermore, the hotel was 100% coronaproof, the staff was wearing a mouth mask continuously and there was alcohol gel in every corner of the hotel! The hotel rooms were also very very nice: large, airconditioning, nice balcony, quiet environment.
In conclusion, we can say that this was the perfect getaway, do not look any further if you want a perfect stay in Tropea!!

Rocca Della Sena is a great hotel in Tropea. It enjoys quiet evenings since it is about an 8-minute walk from the town’s historic downtown and overflowing street. Situated on the cliffs overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, its terrace is a perfect place for evening sunset watching. The rooms range in size to moderate (where my two 20-something year old children stayed) to fairly large with a king size bed, jacuzzi tub and patio overlooking the terrace with sea views. The breakfasts are diverse with lots of choices from eggs, cereals, pancakes, various meats and cheese, breads and croissants, etc. The beach can be reached by walking down some steep steps (about 200 steps) and a short walk to a beach club or the public beach. Every evening we enjoyed cocktails and snacks on the terrace while we watched the sunset. Finally, the staff was just incredible in their friendliness and helpfulness. Pavvel was a mixologist extraordinaire. Romina and the rest of the front desk staff were great at providing recommendations and ensuring we had reservations at nearby restaurants. They arranged for airport transfers and were very responsive when I messaged them before our arrival. This is an awesome choice for a hotel in Tropea.

Pros: the staff was exceptional, specially Denise, who helped checking us in late at night, with good suggestions for restaurants, and sightseeing nearby! Breakfast was very good, with a variety of choices displayed beautifully and with no waste! The view from the terrace was stunning! And there was direct access to the beach, if you have healthy young legs to go down and up 150 steps (which we didn’t have). Walking distance from the centro storico, 10 minutes.
Cons: I am only writing about room 209, the only one available on Booking.com, at the time of our reservation. It’s a very small room, with simple basic furniture, on the ground floor, facing the street. For privacy, there were plants covering the window, so, the room was quite dark. The bathroom was in dire need of a good scrub, specially in the shower area, plus the handheld shower didn’t work. Also, there wasn’t any tissue paper, nor a writing pad, expected at a rated 4 star hotel.

Overpriced and lacks identity. Staff are friendly but breakfast is laughable and they won’t permit self service or to dine outside. The so called, outdoor pool is so tiny and shallow, it’s not fit for purpose. They try too hard but need to focus on their strengths which is the views, beach access via steps or short cab ride. Half the cost of rooms, bin the breakfast and the outdoor pool, hold evening bbq’s on the terrace for guests to witness the glorious sunsets. Also, an outdoor bathtub/jacuzzi is NOT a hot tub

Dear Marinos, first of all thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Rocca della Sena. We are happy that you have appreciated the location on the sea and the proximity to the center, the professionalism of our staff and the friendly welcome. We are sorry, however, that something did not fully meet your expectations. Our breakfast buffet is always very appreciated, as you can also read from the numerous reviews, for the variety of proposals, the genuineness of our products, the fast and efficient service, both for sweet and savory food. The choice to keep a served buffet is obviously linked to the Covid restrictions still in force and customers have in any case always shown that they prefer table service rather than having to serve themselves. It is true that our terrace is our great strength, and the managerial choice of not having a restaurant was well thought out. However, in order not to deprive guests of the use of our splendid panoramic area, we always have a menu of cold dishes that are often valid alternatives to the restaurants of the historic center and the chaos of the city. The small menu can always be accompanied by the big offer of our wine cellar and the excellent cocktails prepared by our fantastic bartender. Sipping a drink inside the Jacuzzi with sea view is in fact what our guests love most at sunset. However, we take note of your very personal opinion and we will use it as a starting point to improve ourselves. We invite you to come back and visit us to give us a second chance, we are sure that you will be able to change your mind on many aspects.

My husband and I have traveled extensively throughout Europe and this is one of the best places we have ever stayed. This is a small hotel with only 15 rooms and you are treated like family. We had a deluxe suite with a beautiful balcony and jacuzzi overlooking the water. The views and sunsets were spectacular. The place is kept meticulously clean and everyone is extremely friendly. The breakfast buffet is one of the most extensive I have seen and the outdoor patio has a small pool and gorgeous views. The bar has a mixologists Pawla who has wonderful recommendations and you are a 5 minute walk to your he beach below or the center of town while the hotel itself is in a quite area. Don’t hesitate to book your stay here you won’t regret it.

From the moment we arrived to the time for us to leave, the staff were amazing. Incredibly accommodating and friendly.
We were there during a very quiet period due to time of year but the service was still fantastic.
My partner and I were visiting Tropea for our first holiday abroad as well as for our anniversary and personal celebrations. We actually loved it being quiet as it made it more intimate and relaxing.
We were given a complimentary drink on arrival and sat on the terrance in the gorgeous weather, which was perfect after a full day of travel.
Our room was perfect for us, very comfortable bed, jacuzzi bath and bathroom/shower. It was perfect for us.
Breakfast every morning was delicious! The pastries, bacon, fresh fruit was all perfect.
Every night being British, the gentleman on the night shift would make me a tea with honey and a biscuit, without me even needing to ask as he knew I had one every night 😅 it added to the experience.
On our final day I was truly sad to leave, we had quite a wait for our train/flight and was able to wait on the terrance even though we had checked out which helped so much! The complimentary water for our travels was a great touch.
The location is perfect, perfect terrance views, short distance from the beach and main area. Just be prepared for the cliff stairs! There’s no avoiding it 😂
It was a truly beautiful experience, thank you so much for making our holiday 🙏🏻❤️

No, no tea/coffee facilities in the room
We are non smokers, not that I was looking but I really can't say that I noticed anyone smoking. Worse case scenario, stepping outside the front gate of the hotel places you on the street where I'm sure you can smoke.
With that said, we stayed in a deluxe ocean-view room (Believe it was 111). The views from the hotel are wonderful, stay courteous, friendly & always helpful. Hotel is a leisurely 10 min walk to center(Via Umberto I).
Should you decide to visit Tropea, I have several dining suggestions, if you have need of any.
Hi I found this Hotel very expensive as well, if you search sure you find good hotels around.
Buongiorno Barbara. The Jacuzzi, not really pool, is at the moment not heated.
We are currently trying to update the system to be able to heat it.

Dear .
The beach service is not included in the price. We have an agreement with the Lido that is below our hotel . In our terrace-garden there is a private stair ( about 180 steps ) that leading to the beach. We can book this for you (in this case is necessary for us to know the exact dates) otherwise you can choose to go in the parts of free beach. For further information we remain at your disposal. Best regards
