Hotel very well located, in a former convent, 800 meters from the shores of Lake Maggiore, accessible via pleasant pedestrian and shopping streets.
Comfortable room and bedding, very clean, small terrace overlooking the garden planted with magnificent trees, bathroom a little dated... but compensated by a large dressing room.
Friendly, professional and attentive staff.
Fitness room available.
Very pleasant bar overlooking a magnificent cloister, where it is pleasant to spend a moment, or to have an aperitif at an attractive price.
Quite complete breakfast, excellent coffee (choice from the machine).
The half-board menus offer traditional Italian dishes, with 2 choices for each of the 3 courses.
Closed parking in the adjacent street, to be reserved in advance.
Very good value for money.
In summary, excellent stay!

And here we are again talking about my experience at the restaurant of the hotel il Chiostro. New Year’s Eve in celebrating the hope of a better year than last year. I tiptoed in, I wanted to toast with friends to the new year, but then I let go and savored every moment. Clean, relaxing, personal context with their uniform that makes them a flagship of the cloister. The Director Davide Marchini despite being young and 'managed to create a healthy, clean, with all the friendly, affable and reliable staff. He himself greeted all the guests by shaking their hands and pointing to the table assigned to them. As always the irreplaceable chef Bianchi, prepared a sublime dinner that involved mind and palate. 4 meat and fish appetizers, two delicious first courses of which I did the encore, two main courses of which one of fish is one of meat .. spectacular. Exceptional flavor and presented divinely with a pourpurri of combinations as an example a hazelnut butter fillet with black cabbage and apple.... Boy, you're mouth-watering. Dessert! Soft nougat, chocolate coulis and mou sauce. Guys I assure you it was fabulous. A succession of mandarins, peanuts, panettone and surprise! We danced, we sang. 220 guests and everything was perfect and well organized. Applause to the staff, chef Bianchi and the tireless and prodigious director Davide Marchini who managed to improve the organization and the context a lot. I specify that this place is suitable for organizing parties, birthdays, weddings. You eat great at a fair price, but what matters is all the set and when you go home you are happy and satisfied. I'll be back. Thank you very much. I entered on tiptoe and found myself between dishes dancing with German guests who involved me is entertaining. Evening to remember.

Central hotel with very kind staff. The rooms are small but very functional. The top is definitely reached by the cloister that represents a real gem where you can breathe relaxation and harmony. There is a small chapel. Very good breakfast. I would have gladly stayed for another few days. Highly Recommendation.

The official pictures show the hotel at its best - and only from one. The supposed monastery garden and the pillared passages are only on one side, the rest of the complex looks ordinary and caused disappointment. Large groups (including groups of children) Trips in and the rooms are noisy (you can hear conversations and especially arrival and departure noise in the corridors even above and below your own floor). The staff seems unmotivated, the breakfast is okay and the paid parking can be saved as you can park for free on foot. For five days it was (without balcony and with five meters away view of the neighboring house and mold in the room) still okay.

I visited the hotel for two nights from Friday to Sunday in November 2023.
I have known it for about ten years and have enjoyed staying there once or twice a year almost every year. I have always appreciated the cleanliness, cuisine and service. The hotel also has a very good price-performance ratio.

But now a lot has changed. On Saturday evening the restaurant was closed to us hotel guests without notice. With two larger private parties, the kitchen was apparently at full capacity and all other guests had to eat out.
On Saturday evening the restaurant was then open for us and dinner was quite good.

Saturday night: There was a party in the spacious basement of the cloister. I had a room on the first floor with a view of the garden and unfortunately also diagonally above the cellar vault. All night long until two in the morning there was loud music mixed with unprofessional piano tinkling, in a loop, so to speak. I slept for a whole four hours.

Sunday morning: At breakfast the sliced white bread was very dry, it was probably from the day before. There was a fairly new, modern coffee machine on the counter. Cappuccino from the machine: Instead of using fresh milk, the machine uses powdered milk. The cappuccino was simply undrinkable. But when we asked for it, we were given fresh, hot milk. – I had imagined the weekend differently.

The hotel has had a new management team for about two years, which is working with resounding success to destroy the hotel's previously excellent reputation. I am fed up with the long-serving employees at reception and in service. The management's recipe is obviously profit maximization at any price, regardless of whether this scares away guests and regulars.

Operating a coffee machine with powdered milk in Italy is a mortal sin and an insult to the culinary excellence of the Piedmont region. If the hotel wants to keep its former good reputation, I recommend that it urgently changes its management and refrains from ignoble profit maximization. A piquant detail: the hotel belongs to the Catholic Church.

We spent a few days in this hotel with our two children and friends. The rooms are OK but very poorly insulated. We can hear the neighbors, the corridors, the shower, the toilets, as if we were in the room.

Impossible to sleep in the morning, as soon as the neighbor takes a shower, the wake-up call is guaranteed.

Regarding breakfast, it's really limited. Nothing hot apart from the coffee, the bread is tasteless, cold hard-boiled eggs, really the bare minimum... As for the welcome, a waiter who makes you understand that at 11 p.m. it's over. If you are unfortunate enough to arrive at 10:45 p.m., he will let you know through his sighs that you are not welcome.

As for the restaurant, there are much better in the city. Very standard dishes, with little taste… I really don’t recommend it…

A couple who were supposed to accompany us could not come because their child was sick. Impossible to get any discount, not even a voucher for next time. We were even told at reception that “it’s the game! »…

Too bad because this hotel has character, a beautiful courtyard, a beautiful environment and lots of rooms.

In conclusion, it really isn't worth its stars, personally I certainly won't go back!

Good 3-star hotel in the village of Verbania.
The reservation indicated parking, but then when we got there we realized that the parking consisted of 4 parking spaces on the street, obviously already occupied and that was it. To our request we received the answer that there was a free car park 400 meters away in front of a supermarket but in reality that too was already full. The solution was either to drive around endlessly to look for a car park even if it was far away or to pay for it in a car park for the whole day. Night. If you write parking you must be sure that you can allow it to everyone, and not just to whoever you want... A few words to the good connoisseur. Otherwise normal rooms, good dinner/breakfast... lucky to have it because several others were denied dinner because they were full... When in reality the room was half empty at dinner.
Let's say that the structure has potential but is not well organized/managed.
I recommend more courtesy to the gentleman at the counter, given that they don't give anything away, on the contrary.

Aging *** hotel in historic walls with numerous extensions, lovingly maintained despite a noticeable investment backlog. Very close to the center.
It mainly accommodates tour groups over 60, but this does not bother individual tourists. Room in the attic is big enough. 2 metal beds made into a double bed with cable ties. It held up. Breakfast was sufficient. Italian style with lots of sweet items like croissants, cookies and cakes. There were no rolls and the coffee from the machine was actually undrinkable no matter how it was prepared. It's a shame. You don't really expect that in Italy.
Drinks in the restaurant and bar are cheap but of good quality. Therefore, low additional costs.
Small, well-maintained fitness room with simple but functioning equipment. Parking only for a fee of €10/day. Depending on availability, in front of the house or in a hotel parking lot 200m away.
All in all, a good location for excursions on Lake Maggiore. Good value for money.

Also this year we chose this hotel for our university study holiday. Although we had occupied most of the available seats (there were about 160 of us), the organization by the hotel was perfect, even in the face of some specific requests regarding timing. Director and staff always available and kind, we hope to return again next year!

Lovely hotel. Lovely rooms, clean and comfortable. Good bathroom. Good Aircon and nice balcony with a garden view. Lovely buffet breakfast with hot and cold food. Lovely evening meals. Lovely indoor and outdoor seating area where you can enjoy a drink/coffee. Lovely staff, very friendly. The barman was so nice and would have a laugh with you whilst making your drinks and offered table service. He would bring drinks to your table along with some bar snacks, which were complementary
