Was looking forward to my visit but was disappointed . When arrived no doorman to greet and help with baggage as there was a conference party being checked in. We were checked in very quickly and the front desk staff were very helpful not only on arrival but during our stay giving us good information on places to visit and...

On arrival our first impression was not great as there wasn’t a porter. The lobby was heaving and noisy with a conference going on. Staff was fine. Room was art deco but small but nicely decorated, we did ask to be moved but they couldn’t offer an alternative. Maid service was excellent. Pool area is lovely looking over the town,...

We booked for 12 nights thinking great relaxation and super luxury....big mistake. First day the pool bar was shut and then the next day the pool bar was shut which might have been ok had the pool not been on the 5th floor and no service avialable. iIt did open eventually but then the Spa was shut on the tuesday...

My husband and I decided to have what we thought was a luxurious and relaxing week's holiday in a first class hotel just before the start of the Italian holiday season - for which we paid €2100 in advance for 7 nights B&B. But our time here turned out to be anything but. Whilst the Reception staff were courteous and...

The hotel is fine, good buffet breakfast. Very nice swimmingpool incl. jacuzzi on the roof. The prices for the room are not realy value for money. Eating and drinking in this hotel is extremely expensive (cappucino € 8,00 / USD 11,50, royal breakfast in your room € 150,00 / USD 217,00 per person?!?!?!). 1 restaurant has a Michellin star.

I spent a weekend at the Principe with my wife and our 2 kids. We were assigned a super Suite with a balcony, sea view and all you can desire. It has not been easy to get my kids out of the heated open air swimming pool on the rooftop. We also enjoyed the "Regina" restaurant: careful catering and extra...

First of all, this hotel is more a legend than anything else for me. When my dad dated my mum and visited her in summertime in the 50s he would stay at the Principe and take her dance at fancy beach parties on the Italian Riviera! Now my dad is 83 and the hotel, which is only 5 years older...

During my trip to Tuscany during August 2010 I stayed in Principe di Piemonte for a few days. The location was fantastic, not only because it is on the seafront but because with a short distance we visited a lot of places around like Pisa and Livorno. The facilities on the seafront were very good , the staff was very...

I think it is the best offer for Viareggio. 5 star hotel with an outdoor swimming pool on the roof. Not big, but pretty, has a beautiful view on the sea. Location is great - by the sea, not far from the main train station. The staff were always very attentive and helpful when we asked them for any suggestions....

The outside is like a beautiful wedding cake and the inside is restored beauty. I adored this hotel! Every floor is decorated differently. Floor two was Art Deco and our room was like stepping into the boudoir of a movie star. Luxurious cream satin everywhere with black gloss furniture and a pop of leopard chairs. Tall double french doors to...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This storied luxury hotel on the seafront promenade in Viareggio is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Built in the early 1920s, restored to the height of its charm in 2004 after 19 months' refurbishment work, today the Principe is without doubt one of the world's most exclusive and refined historical hotels. The 106 rooms, including 19 suites, on five floors decorated in different styles, represent an ideal cross-section of elegant hospitality over the ages, through to the contemporary design of the sun-drenched rooftop swimming pool. The "Piccolo Principe" and "Regina" restaurants have also made their own contribution to the renown built up over the years by the Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte in Viareggio. The Two-starred Michel restaurant "Piccolo Principe" offers sophisticated cuisine against the magnificent backdrop of the panoramic roof garden, where guests dine in summer, while the "Regina" restaurant offers traditional Tuscan fare. ... more   less
