My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights going to see Andre Botchelli on the Saturday evening. What a delightful place to spend time. Traditionaly french with superb breakfasts. Cooling pool to take a dip in when the tempretures rise. Delightful and charming.

B & B Podere Rivoltino di Sopra sits on a hillside overlooking the gorgeous, peacful rolling hills of Tuscany. The quiet setting at the foot of the olive orchard was delightful. The full breakfast was delicious, we only regretted not knowing more Italian so we could express our appreciation to our host and hostess. We highly recommend this B & B to travelers looking for a restful break from the city crowds. Volterra is a wonderful walled-city with much to explore.

My friend & I stayed here as we were attending a Wedding nearby & didn't want to be in the town centre so we could relax properly. Well what can I say, all our wishes were not only met but exceeded! The rooms are stunning, classic, clean & comfortable. The outdoor area is beautiful with a lovely pool & terrace. It was home from home for us, we especially enjoyed watching the owners cat & dog lazing in the sun in the vast surrounding countryside. Breakfasts were lovely although I will learn the Italian for English breakfast tea with milk next time as this did cause a bit of confusion!! The family were really nice & we felt like we had the place to ourselves even though we were essentially staying in their home. I will definitely come back with my husband as it was so beautiful & would make a very romantic getaway. The town of Volterra is less than 10 minutes away by car so really easy to get to for dinner. We only wish we'd stayed longer & used this as our base to tour Tuscany.

Amelia, the owner, makes this a very special place to stay. Her breakfasts are accompanied by all sorts of homemade cakes, tarts and savouries and are absolutely delicious. She makes you feel very welcome. There are just two rooms here that are let out, and you get your own "front door". We loved the nights we were the only couple there the best, as sound proofing was a bit of an issue when a rather flamboyant and noisy couple stayed in the other room on our last night! The room is immaculately clean with a lovely big ensuite shower room. It was a bit tight for space though and there was no where to sit, unless it was outside... which is no hardship in the summer, but would be a bit frustrating if the weather was bad. The grounds are glorious with magnificent views. However initially we did find the place hard to find. We drove passed it several times, as the name on the gate is very hard to read... unless you are standing right next to it! To help you.... it is positioned at the apex of the return bend of the first big hair pin bend, when you are travelling up the road from the 439. Look for the large metal electric gates, which also have a track on the right of them with a chain over. The other frustrating thing when you arrive from a long journey is that there is no kettle in the room. There is a fridge, but it was empty. However that was no problem as we just asked Amelia... and she immediately made us two lovely cups of coffee and gave us a bottle of water. She is a lovely person and cannot do enough for you. Another tip, if you do not fancy the drive up to Volterra and back, especially in the dark for your evening meal, then I recommend the Hotel/Ristorante Molino d'Era, which is located on the 439 at the foot of the other road upto Volterra. The food is lovely, it is a less "hairy" drive, and easy parking. Do not let the few "cons" outweigh the "pros" for staying here. I would recommend staying here 100%, I just want you to be in full possession of the facts! Amelia makes you feel so welcome... I only wished my Italian was not so dreadful so that I could had conversed with her more! If you stay here you will find that Podere Rivoltino casts a spell over you and you will magically unwind!

If you are traveling through Tuscany by car, you must stay here. Amelia is the warmest and most charming host and her B&B is one of the best we have ever visited. It is located very close to Volterra and an easy car ride away. Her breakfast was so much better than all the others (nice warm omelette as well as the usual items). The room we stayed in was spacious, uniquely decorated and the grounds are gorgeous. This is a wonderful alternative to in the city lodging. Visit and you certainly won't regret it.
