The cottage was beautiful and we especially enjoyed cooking & eating on the deck outside. The pre-ordered food packages of breakfast and dinner were ample, beautifully presented and delicious. Another night we went to the Julatten pub nearby, which has a delightful deck too.

To reach the two cottages which are off the road you have to drive along quite a bit of a gravel road and you park right on the lawn in front of your cottage. The area is a former fruit plantation with an own access to the rain forest and to a little river where - as our host

We are pleased that you enjoyed the quality of our lodges as we put a lot of thought and effort in to their construction and upkeep. It is a shame that you didn't see any platypus while here. Our lodges are indeed self catering but we do offer optional food hampers for both dinner and breakfast which are again of a very high quality. The lodges are not serviced as is the case with most accommodation like ourselves - we totally respect the privacy of our guests. We make it known to guests that we are here to help with anything. We hope you found the pantry essentials that we supply useful however. There are two eating options within a 5 minute drive of Sweetwater - both the Julatten Tavern and the National Hotel in Mt Molloy serve good food. There is also a little organic cafe and a Mexican cafe in nearby Mt Molloy. Port Douglas is a 35 minute drive with a large selection of cafes and restaurants. We are very sorry that the spa bath was not working during your stay, it is now fixed, on this occasion we had to wait for a new part for the pump to come in. Mobile reception for both telstra and optus is available at the lodges and free wi-fi is available at reception.

Our second visit to Sweetwater confirmed our conviction that this indeed is a very special place 'ticking all our boxes' - birds, walks, isolation, beautiful surroundings. The handcrafted and attractively designed lodges are very comfortable with particular attention to

My wife and I came upon Sweetwater Lodge by chance and how lucky we were. We stayed for the weekend of 9-10th June. The lodge was clean, spacious and very well equipped. The location was magnificent. Lovely paths through the grounds which can lead to a platypus pond. Sadly there

"Either villa provides privacy and beautiful views."
"All lodges are equally good but the gypsy caravan is much smaller"
"The two self-catering lodges are identical, spaced about 100 metres apart; both offer excellent views of the mountainous landscape."
"There are just two lodges...."
"I'd ask for the second cabin, closest the creek. The view from the living area and outdoor kitchen is the forest, not the other cabin. However, either are great. Lazy birding from the lounge in front of the fire was a treat!"
