Be aware: If you´re looking for amenities like free wifi in each room or tv or an excellent barkeepe and dico beats then it is the wrong place. But if you´re looking for silence and recreation between the game drives at the Plettenberg game reserve you will be glad there. The staff is very very friendly and tries to manage... More

My wife and I stayed here on our recent visit to South Africa and we loved this place. It was heaven and we happened to be the only guests that night and we were treated like royalty by the staff. The food was amazing and cooked to perfection by Philip the head chef. Thanks to Regina, Linda and all the... More

We asked for the double bedroom with en suite bathrooms as we were hosting my sister from the USA, and we wanted us all to have privacy. We selected the park and Baroness Lodge to give her an African experience with a taste of luxury, not too far from CT. The park is stuffed with animals (she likened it to... More

My friend and I stayed here for a night and were given a choice of rooms. We chose a lovely room with 2 beds of which one was a 4 poster with a claw foot bath and an amazing fireplace. Our fire was lit for us and we were served a fabulous 3 course dinner and breakfast the next morning... More

My Husband and I got married at the Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve a week ago and our guests and us all stayed at The Baroness for the weekend. What a weekend it was!!! The Baroness is beautiful, a hidden Gem in the Garden Route. The lodge is authentic and decorated with old Colonial/African flair. If your looking for The Ritz... More

We had a truly special stay at The Baroness. The beautiful setting coupled with friendly and helpful staff made this an unforgetable experience. We had our first nights dinner served on the boma's deck overlooking the pond, beautiful! On cool nights fires are lit throughout including your room if you require. Meals are substantial and kitchen staff were happy to... More

I was expecting a lot more. As a local South African, this is definitely not luxurious and was very expensive for what we got. The room was basic but comfortable, although some of the finishes were not great at all (shower was useless and hot water was finished if the other rooms had used the bath/shower before us). The food... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our beautiful Plett Accommodation is a historic and charming colonial-style Safari Lodge that was built in early 1800 by Baron Joachim von Plettenberg, an early South African pioneer and conservationist, who used the original, smaller Lodge as his base to explore the then untamed African landscapes.
