We had a great time at Cedar Peak Guest Farm where we stayed in the Blomhof Farmhouse. It was just the right size for the 6 of us and an added bonus was that our furbaby was also able to tag along and enjoy the fresh air. Since there was a one and a half year old with us it...

If you are looking for a few days away from the hustle then book a couple of days at the Blomhof house on Cedar Peak. It is an old and rustic house but with everything you need. The kitchen does not have an oven, but plenty of other equipment like gas stove tops etc. Its got 4 bedrooms, big enough...

After some initial concerns about getting through the rough roads after well over a hundred millimeters of rain, we managed to arrive at the Rooibos cottage well after dark. We puzzled over some lights we could see in the distance, which turned out to be Citrusdal, some 43 kilometers away. The cottage is spacious and well kitted out, if a...

What a wonderful place to spend a weekend as a family. Rock pools, hiking and boulder scrambling from beginners to advanced. The self catering facilities are basic but functional. Fireplace to keep warm and a sky full of stars. Clear Milky Way views. The road does not lend itself to low riding motor vehicles. Possible, but slow going. Bring books...

Wonderful views with very friendly residents (dogs included). Great walks and stars at night. We came away well rested after good sleep, long walks and lots of fresh air. Only proviso is that the road going in is heavy going for sedans. 4x4 and bakkies will cruise but if driving a sedan be prepared to take it slowly for about fourty...

A great escape to the mountains. Wonderful bush playground for the kids, and the adults. Swimming (chilly!), walking, talking, eating, drinking, biking, reading, kloofing and then some more of the same. Simple but very comfortable accommodations, with all basic necessities.

A fabulous rustic, simple basically decorated farmhouse with amazing views. This is our second time at the farmhouse and was just as nice as the first time. Great for kids, dogs and families. There is a lot to do if you want to get away from the trappings of city life. You can hike, read a book, cycle, swim in...

We stayed in the farmhouse, and the cottage also looks good. Farm manager very friendly and helpful. Farmhouse spacious and clean. Basic - but that fits the environment and cost. Dam is large and good for swimming/ canoes. Walks need better signage but the fynbos is good towards Dwars Rivier and the stream and waterfalls are lovely. Views of the...

The Cederpeak farm is excellent for large and small groups, depending which house you book. We went with family and loved the generous spaces, the excellent - and probably completely unique - view all the way down into the valley, the walks and the animals on the farm. It is very comfortable, cosy fire and wide veranda and all together...

This place is excellent value for a large group or small family depending on the house you take. It has everything you need except a stove. The views are incredible. The walking trails are not well maintained and are spoiled a bit by a trigger happy blue paint sprayer, but offer beautiful scenery. It is places like these and the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Cedar Peak is a mountaintop nature farm perched at the top of Dasklip Pass, about 10km from the entrance to Groot Winterhoek Wilderness Nature Reserve and its Jupiter landscape of weird and wonderful sandstone formations. The farm is surrounded by several mountain ranges and the Olifants River valley.Your accommodation comes courtesy of an old four-bedroom, two-bathroom, massive stoep, farmhouse called Blomhof, and a second, beautifully restored cottage called Rooibos Cottage. Blomhof Farmhouse is best tailored to four adults and a similar number of children, as there are two bedrooms with double beds, another with two singles and a fourth with a double bunk. Rooibos Cottage, on the other hand is a two-bedroom retreat with a huge balcony and a bath with a spectacular view. Both abodes are furnished with period Cape cottage furniture, including some beautiful antique items. The kitchens are fully equipped, quality linen and towels are provided, and the lounges have large fireplaces, with wood available ... more   less

“All the rooms are lovely, each in its own way, the 'pool; here means the dam which is a natural lake, beautiful beach sand on the one side, and excellent for spending the day a few minutes from the house.”
