We lucked on to this immaculate B&B when looking for a place near Dunkerque so we'd be close to the Channel Tunnel for a morning departure to England. About an hour's drive from the tunnel, this pleasant haven is surrounded by fields of corn and wheat and is hosted by a charming couple. We were welcomed with tea and cookies in the pretty garden. Our room was simply appointed and spotlessly clean, nicely decorated and adjacent to a shared kitchen. Our hosts arranged dinner at a lovely Flemish cafe nearby, where we had traditional food in a delightful setting. Breakfast in the morning featured yummy home-made yogurt, fresh coffee, baguettes with jam and rhubarb tart. At about $90 for two, it was a great value. I wish we could have stayed longer to explore Flanders and its rich history--it's a beautiful part of France. More

.....some 10km south of Cassel, is located this bed & breakfast featuring 2 rooms that share a common kitchen. This brings home the caveat: your privacy can be quite limited if you do not rent both rooms at the same time. On the good sides are the friendliness of the owners, Mr. and Mrs. Polvèche, which prepare a lovely breakfast, are well-documented and very helpful in giving you recommendations where to go. We even had the pleasure of enjoying their "table d'hôte", when, on Monday, most restaurants in the nearby city of Cassel had closed. More
