The room was hot and no air conditioning. Opened window but too noisy from people talking in restaurant area up to 3.30 am. Called reception to complain but phone forwarded to voice mail. It was the owner making the noise which shows a total disrespect for hotel guests.

We had four nights here in the middle of a touring holiday round Alsace and Lorraine. The staff were very friendly and our stay was very comfortable. The highlight of this place is the pool, and the beautiful setting surrounded by vineyards. The restaurant was excellent for breakfast and dinner, but there are other eating places (and caves for wine...

Imposing building, comfortable place, friendly people. Decent but slightly pricey breakfast. Restaurant seems worth a visit (but didn't have the opportunity to eat there this time round). Free parking, overall for us it was good value for money.

Excellent friendly staff, very nice pool and outside bar area, good restaurant. Breakfast simple but adequate. Super hotel for relaxing by the pool, touring Strasbourg / area and enjoying a pleasant evening meal. Some small improvements possible with a little effort: Bathroom door did not close or lock One window roller blind broken Very drunk guests (Owners? Friends of owners?)...

The hotel is in a great location surrounded very closely by vineyards. The staff is very kind and make you feel like at home. Good points: pool and the terrace, wifi is fast. No good points: small room and from my point of view expensive restaurant. I think it is one the best hotels in the area.

We came by bike through Barr and found the hotel easily. The hotel is placed in a big garden and has its own pool. Very nica staff in the reception. the rooms are quite big, but a bit old fashioned. Quiet place, nice to stay there.

Nice chateau style hotel. Rooms could use nicer furnishing and A/C. We visited during hot days and it was hard to aerate enough to cool down. During our second stay there was a wedding party, causing pool and garden to be closed, so would check on that to prevent this kind of surprise. Otherwise nice stay in very nice and...

The hotel is situated in one of the smaller charming cities along the wine route in Alsace. The building is an old one that has been renovated (though could still use some work since the wall paper was peeling in our room). The room was small, but clean with a modern bathroom. The hotel staff seemed genuinely uninterested in welcoming...

Absolutely perfect. The city is a dream. We visited it on late autumn so the wine harvest was already done but the city itself and the hotel is something to remember. The ehotel is a mix of classic and modern cliche- amazing. Food in restaurant was excellent what is to expect in Alsace of course but still- perfect treat for...

Stayed here for one night as part of a Discover France Alsace hike and had a bed, dinner and breakfast package. The room we had was reasonably small but very comfortable and had a small balcony overlooking the pool area. The outdoor pool was heated and is a nice place to relax in. Only a short walk into the main...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Standing up above the medieval city of Barr, along the famous Alsatian Wine Route, the hotel Les Hortensias welcomes you into its authentic setting and guarantees an enjoyable stay full of elegance and sophistication. Know in the past as "The little Dietz castle" and glowing with charm today, the hotel building was built at the end of the 19th century by Edouard Dietz, a public figure from Barr and owner of the largest leather factory in the town. After a complete renovation, "the little Dietz castle" has today made way for Les Hortensias, an establishment that embodies authenticity, comfort, well-being and French haute cuisine, located 30 minutes away from Strasbourg and from Colmar. ... more   less
