Reception could not have been more helpful from the welcome to answering all our questions about places to eat etc
The swimming pool was very welcome after a hot day of hiking and sightseeing. Even had drinks service, first time in the Covid era
Room was ample size looked over pool and had a big walk in shower. Comfortable bed and great closet space if you were staying for a few days.
Ample breakfast, good quality
Great central location meaning you could do short forays into town and come back and cool off before venturing out again

We had a great stay here. The bed was King sized and very comfortable. The room was spacious and had lots of amenities, such as a fridge and a coffee maker. It was a great base to explore Sarlat. The staff in the bar/restaurant went out of their way to be friendly and to accommodate our needs. If you are driving here, you can park in a secure garage for a fee that is several blocks away.

The little town of Sarlat de caneda is a wonderful place to stay while you take day trips out into the Dordogne valley. And a wonderful place to stay in Sarlat is the Plaza Madelene. The staff is friendly, the rooms are ample and the location is convenient. If you book your trip in mid October, the weather is cool, and the stores have end of season sales, because the season ends in November.
Try to book your room on the second floor, only two or three rooms have a balcony overlooking the town, but you will be witness to the market setting up on Saturday and the beauty of the square.
This town has so much shopping, and includes favorite shops like Blanc du Nil- that you will definitely be entertained. A cool autumn evening stroll to one of the many restaurants transports you to another time where cares melt and friends appear everywhere.
Must see sights nearby include the cliffside fortress of Rocamador, the beautiful Marqueyssac gardens, many prehistory Cro Magnon caves and paintings at Lascaux, one of the prettiest river towns I've seen at Beynac, and of course the cemetery in Sarlat.

We called in to the hotel bar for drinks . We ordered 2 glasses of white wine . We were not shown a drinks menu . After meeting some people in the bar we stayed on for a few more drinks . Then ordered the bill . We were astounded at the price so questioned it . The waiter informed us it was a very fine more expensive wine ( I hadn’t though so myself ) I advised him that we were not offered a choice , there was no tarif just an assumption we wanted an expensive fine wine . He conceded it was not fair and made a small reduction . We felt duped !

We stayed here for five nights as a base to explore the Perigord Noir, including Sarlat itself. It is the perfect location for touring the region and a delightful town. We arrived before our room was ready and the staff very kindly stored our bags and gave us a map with restaurant options for lunch marked. The advice was spot on.

We decided to spring for the suite, since it was an anniversary trip, and it was more than worth it. Lots of space, an incredibly well equipped kitchen, lovely views over the trees and the roofs of Vieux Sarlat. Everything was immaculately clean and the AC (it was well into the 90s everyday) worked well. The king bed was so comfortable, as was the bedding. Breakfast offered a large array of options and the staff were so kind and helpful. In fact from reception to the bar to breakfast to housekeeping everyone was warm and welcoming.

There is a bar in the hotel, which we tried because we were offered a welcome cocktail. Discovering how comfortable it is and how good the bartenders are, we went back on two more evenings.

Overall. this hotel helped to make our visit to the area special.

We had five nights at this lovely hotel. The front of house team are amazing. Even coming out to get us a parking ticket for the front of the hotel while we unpacked. Their restaurant recommendations were all good and they reserved for us in advance so we had no problems.
Our prestige room and bathroom were well equipped and comfortable. It’s a lovely hotel for couples.
The location is perfect. We are glad we took their advice to avoid a Saturday arrival as market day would have made it difficult with a car.
We made good use of the sauna and pool which was often quiet so we had it to ourselves.
We regret not using the bar until night four. The cherry cocktail was one of the best cocktails I have ever had. Their wine ‘machine’ is a great way to be able to read about a wine and have a tasting glass before committing to a large one!
We used their parking facilities which are only a five minute walk away. The spaces are generous and we had the use of their Tesla destination charger. We noticed a hybrid also charging so it’s a good choice if you have an electric car.
Our first time in the Perigord. We definitely intend to come back to this hotel.

This hotel gem has all of the amenities you'll want in the perfect location, plus attentive service. Our room was extremely comfortable, beautifully decorated, and featured an amazing shower with multiple spa features. The Plaza Bar is a handsomely appointed cafe with an excellent wine bar. But the standout for us was the food! If you love truffles, don't miss the Croque Monsieur with truffle spread. OMG. In the mood for an amazing Caesar salad? You won't find another anywhere like this one.

Don't miss the market, which spreads in either direction along the street directly in front of Plaza Madeline every Saturday. Great food and local crafts fill the stalls, giving you lots of options to experience the flavor of Sarlat!

Sarlat is centrally located in the Dordogne region, close to important medieval sites as well as the prehistoric era. The rooms are quite small but have the amenities we wanted such as a full size tub. There is a lovely pool and hot tub area and a good restaurant and bar. You can't go wrong on market days as you just walk out and onto the street!

We came to the hotel as a group of 10 friends. Prior to our arrivel I asked if the hotel staff if they could help us with restaurants booking. They were so helpful, and so nice and offered more and more help. Our flight landed very late, and when I told them that we shall arrive very late they wanted to prepare us food allthough it was almost midnight. We felt like they were family that cared to us. It was so nice of them, and we are so thankful.

It is a great stay for couples. We used the spa every afternoon and only once saw other people. We could get to the hot tub directly from our room. The pool was heated but not quite warm enough in late April. The hotel bar was very cozy inside and had a small terrace outside. Great location for exploring Sarlat. They have a small garage on the opposite side of the old city so be sure to reserve early. The room was a bit tight, but it had a king sized bed. We will stay here again.
