We spent a night in Mâcon on our way back home. The hotel was very central with easy parking. The room was big and very clean. Social distancing and antibacterial stations were in place throughout the hotel. Staff was helpful and friendly.
My husband and I spent one night here. Check in took a while - one man on the desk - he was quite grumpy and rude. We were given a room on the first floor but it stank of smoke (apparently it is supposed to be a non-smoking hôtel) as well as looking like the bed had been slept in.. So went back down to cue again - eventually given another room. Smaller but quieter - although if you are staying in the week beware of building work going on at the back of the hotel. The shower door did not close so water went on the floor also we were given only two tiny bottles of shower gel (luckily I bought my own). Air con in room smelt horrid and smoky so left window open. Interesting stuffed toilet roll holder from a previous guest?? - not cleaned properly! Difficult to park out front to drop off bags and I recommend you reserve parking at the hotel . We gave breakfast a miss at 13.50euros pp preferring to stop by a local cafe. …
Our first night stop on a 4 week 2x motorcycle trip around France, Italy, Greece, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia and back through Italy and France to our home in Chef Boutonne in Deux Sevres France. A very pleasant hotel with secure parking for two high value motorcycles and within easy walking distance to the town and restaurants. There was a bit of upheaval outside the hotel due to roadworks but this did not detract from our stay. Hotel room very comfortable with a pleasant breakfast.
large, comfortable, centrally placed hotel with on-site parking (10 euros a night). Staff very helpful and polite and large, comfortable room with no road noise. An excellent choice for access to the centre of Macon and the riverside parks. Good, hearty buffet breakfast. Excellent value.
On arrival, we were told that the car park was full, so had to leave our car in a public car park nearby. Not terribly happy about this, as we felt it was a security issue. As others have said, the hotel is in a great location: walking distance to the river, old town, restaurants etc. Our room overlooked a noisy street below though. Perhaps it was because we were on a cheaper, internet deal. The room itself was modern and fresh (albeit with an overwhelming smell of alcohol based cleaner) with a comfortable bed. However the duvet itself must've had an Arctic tog rating, far too hot for the mild September night. I asked the receptionist for a lightweight blanket, but they didn't have any, and she gave us a sheet instead. Perhaps if the air conditioning in the room hadn't been disconnected we could have been comfortable with the heavy duvet? All in all, a reasonable night's stay, but we had the impression there were definitely two tiers of service.…
