We spent a night in Mâcon on our way back home. The hotel was very central with easy parking. The room was big and very clean. Social distancing and antibacterial stations were in place throughout the hotel. Staff was helpful and friendly.

My husband and I spent one night here. Check in took a while - one man on the desk - he was quite grumpy and rude. We were given a room on the first floor but it stank of smoke (apparently it is supposed to be a non-smoking hôtel) as well as looking like the bed had been slept in.. So went back down to cue again - eventually given another room. Smaller but quieter - although if you are staying in the week beware of building work going on at the back of the hotel. The shower door did not close so water went on the floor also we were given only two tiny bottles of shower gel (luckily I bought my own). Air con in room smelt horrid and smoky so left window open. Interesting stuffed toilet roll holder from a previous guest?? - not cleaned properly! Difficult to park out front to drop off bags and I recommend you reserve parking at the hotel . We gave breakfast a miss at 13.50euros pp preferring to stop by a local cafe.

Our first night stop on a 4 week 2x motorcycle trip around France, Italy, Greece, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia and back through Italy and France to our home in Chef Boutonne in Deux Sevres France. A very pleasant hotel with secure parking for two high value motorcycles and within easy walking distance to the town and restaurants. There was a bit of upheaval outside the hotel due to roadworks but this did not detract from our stay. Hotel room very comfortable with a pleasant breakfast.

large, comfortable, centrally placed hotel with on-site parking (10 euros a night). Staff very helpful and polite and large, comfortable room with no road noise. An excellent choice for access to the centre of Macon and the riverside parks. Good, hearty buffet breakfast. Excellent value.

On arrival, we were told that the car park was full, so had to leave our car in a public car park nearby. Not terribly happy about this, as we felt it was a security issue. As others have said, the hotel is in a great location: walking distance to the river, old town, restaurants etc. Our room overlooked a noisy street below though. Perhaps it was because we were on a cheaper, internet deal. The room itself was modern and fresh (albeit with an overwhelming smell of alcohol based cleaner) with a comfortable bed. However the duvet itself must've had an Arctic tog rating, far too hot for the mild September night. I asked the receptionist for a lightweight blanket, but they didn't have any, and she gave us a sheet instead. Perhaps if the air conditioning in the room hadn't been disconnected we could have been comfortable with the heavy duvet? All in all, a reasonable night's stay, but we had the impression there were definitely two tiers of service.

Response from J_POUPONNOT, Directeur général at Hotel de Bourgogne

Thank you for staying in our hotel. For the hotel garage, 15 slots for 59 rooms, therefore we can not be 1 place for all cars. And hotels in the heart of town have very rarely garage available. The important thing is to be able to park your vehicle, and in our case, 2 parking under video surveillance are nearby. Our rooms are equipped with double glazing, and many are equipped with double windows. Maybe you are very sensitive to noise in general. In any case, we do not have distinctions depending on the origin of the reservation. Regarding the bedding, we only have duvets indeed. That said, the air conditioning works very well throughout the hotel .. Only imperative: the window of the room must be closed, otherwise the system is cut (summer and winter). Anyway, I suggest you contact us directly for your next stay, indicating your requirements, and we will make every effort to make this stay a success. See you soon in Macon
