We stayed here for one night in a 'superior' room. The room itself was superbly appointed with lots of power points, a nifty ironing board that folded out from the furniture and was just generally of a high standard with tasteful decoration. I found my bed a bit bouncy though my wife like her mattress very much; they were certainly very comfortable.

The room was very quiet (though we were there in January when there were relatively few guests).

The bathroom was spotless and had a truly brilliant shower in it with remote electronic control so you can fine tune temperature before getting wet. The towels were big, soft and very absorptive. There was a loo brush.

The WiFi unfortunately never reached us during the evening so we had to use our phones; the following morning it was stronger. However beware it is insecure, without any unique login.

Breakfast selection is fair, with a nice range of good quality items, including excellent fresh croissants, greek yoghurt and local honey. We balked though after spending £135/night at having to pay £2 extra for a cappuccino each. Unfortunately my locally smoked kipper appeared to be so mildly salted and mildly smoked that I had to reject it. My wife's choice of avocado on toast was outstanding.

Service throughout our stay was excellent and unobtrusive.

After several cancelled holidays this year we decided to treat ourselves to a 4-night stay at the Pheasant on their dinner, bed and breakfast package to avoid having to venture out to find meals. The hotel is in a perfect location to explore North Norfolk being on the coastal road, but very peaceful.

The ‘Covid secure’ arrangements were good, and we opted out of the full housekeeping service; instead a bag of all the things you need were placed outside the door each morning and this worked extremely well. We were in a standard room which was of average size but well appointed, with an extremely comfortable bed and we had opted for shower over bath which was of good quality and easy to use. There was no view in the standard room, with the window looking out onto a raised grass bank.

The restaurant was superb with pre-booked staggered seating times and the same table throughout, and the food was of a consistently high standard at both breakfast and dinner, with plenty of fish and vegetarian options for us non-meat eaters.

Whilst we did have some very minor issues on arrival, these were dealt with efficiently and promptly and I would say that the staff are a wonderful asset to this hotel, the customer service from every single staff member was excellent. Would definitely recommend the Pheasant and consider a return visit.

Fabulous Christmas break! . Our 1st stay here . We are a couple , late 50’s who found ourselves, unexpectedly free of the offspring and little ankle biters this year . Woo hoo no food shopping ! 🥳We decided to treat ourselves .
A weeks stay 21st -28 th Dec 2019 which inc the Xmas package in the middle . Oh boy, you won’t be disappointed . Exceptional staff in every domain who go the extra mile to pamper and look after you . A special mention to Dan & Mathew who are just superb front of house and a credit to the Hotel.
Dan ( very skilled gentleman ) manages to be ‘ everywhere’ like a ray of sunshine and is always up for a giggle or a chat , just when you might need wine advice or in my case talking through the menu as I am a coeliac and need guidance to trust and eat safely gluten free . Thanks must go to the chef, as the food was fabulous and I always had plenty of choice. Xmas lunch was so delicious , served piping hot and effortlessly to a full dining room with Mathews slick co ordination . The atmosphere was just lovely and everyone commented on how friendly a hotel it was . We stayed in the Partridge junior suite which was luxurious . Extra touches such as robes and slippers , fresh milk and filtered water in the fridge along with a dyson hairdryer added to the feeling .
From our initial phone call with the lovely Fiona to reserve our booking through to the receptionists guidance on outstanding walks and scenery surrounding this estate , to big goodbyes with friendships made, it was effortless . Great job Team Pheasant, 👌superb service offered with pride , spot on .
We will be back love ‘The Waltons’ ❤️

We both thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at The Pheasant last week, as did Suzie, our little Shih-Poo, who was made very welcome. She loved her blanket & biscuits and was always offered fresh water in the Orangery & bar. Our room was spacious, comfortable and lovely and warm. The bathroom was ideal for anyone with mobility problems as it housed a large wet-room, with very sturdy seat across one end and grab rails thoughtfully positioned. The soft, thick towels were always warm and toiletries of superior quality. Our room had a safe, television, Dyson hairdryer, Nespresso coffee maker, and refrigerator which was provisioned with fresh milk and water. There was a good supply of coffee etc not to mention some delicious biscuits.

Each night we dined in the Orangery where the service was excellent, as was the care and attention paid to my dietary requirements. The food was absolutely first class and we were really spoilt for choice by the breakfasts.

The staff were very pleasant, polite and helpful - a credit to this comfortable relaxing hotel.

A warm welcome from Daniel on Reception started our great stay at The Pheasant.
Our room was spotlessly clean and comfortably appointed, especially the bed and linen. In addition, to tea and coffee there was a delicious pack of cookies to accompany our beverages. The hotel has taken every possible step to be Covid compliant, so we felt very relaxed throughout our stay. All of our meals were excellent, and the serving staff were first class. The hotel is in a very good location for exploring the beautiful North Norfolk coast; there are also great walks from the hotel.

We stayed here for 3 nights with Stanley the Spaniel in a dog Friendly room (no 27).
What a perfect place to stay. The room was lovely and perfectly positioned as was right next to the outside door for those late night and early morning visits to the garden for Stanley!
The hotel was very COVID-19 aware and we appreciated the bottles of sanitisers in the room and throughout the hotel.
The staff were all very friendly and the food was excellent. We were on D,B&B for three nights but the menu for dinner every night was different with lots of choices and all delicious.
Room was well appointed and spotlessly clean.
The area surrounding was lovely and you can walk straight out and get to the sea via a lovely walk so no need to jump in the car.
We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone and are looking forward to returning

In need of a break as lockdown eases, and to celebrate our anniversary we decided there was no better place than The Pheasant. We have been here numerous times before, and with things still uncertain decided this hotel would be the best to return too. It was obvious that measures had to be put in place to make it safe for everyone but they were done to the highest standard and did not in anyway interfere with any time spent there.
From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and welcoming and did everything they could to make your stay special. We treated ourselves to the Partridge suite and it was amazing, plenty of space very elegant and we enjoyed every minute of it. Having said that we have stayed in various rooms and they are all really well equipped with toiletries and tea/coffee making facilities. The food in the restaurant was varied each evening, a really good choice and the presentation was fabulous. We even took one of their picnic lunches out on our day to the beach, it was delicious and certainly worth the money and I really recommend this. They even came in a cool bag with a cool pack which was great as it was an exceptionally hot day.
If I could give this hotel more than five stars I would, it really deserves it. There was nothing you could fault very highly recommended.

Currently day one of 2 night stay and to say I am disappointed is an understatement. When you arrive at the hotel first impressions good until you get inside. As you walk in and look at the room on the left mop bucket in there with water in from a leak!!! Booked in and was quick and efficient. Staying in salt house room and the best way to describe it is confused. First of all a double bed then a strange mix of modern equipment eg dyson hair dryer in a very old style room. Bathroom had modern shower controls and a shower screen that had seen better days and be replaced, bathroom needed to be painted. Nice touch to have local sourced shortbread biscuits in room. We went and had a drink outside and the barman was great and very helpful and arranged a table in hotel restaurant. We went to restaurant for dinner and put in orangery rather than main restaurant when there was clearly plenty of tables they could have put us in. We where not the only guests who thought this! The gentleman running the service with his iPad all evening was to say the least not friendly. Food ok but over priced for what you are paying. First time I have had half a bread roll served with pate!! After eating main course staff gave us the desert menu but after 20 minutes no one had returned to take the order we decided charge the meal to the room and leave. Very poor service throughout the meal. We are travelling for a week around the area and so far this has been the most disappointing hotel and to make things worse this was where we are staying for my wife’s birthday, a disappointed current guest

Having just returned from a two night stay in this hotel it never fails to disappoint. From the moment you arrive you are made to feel welcome. The staff are friendly, helpful and a credit to the hotel. Nothing is too much trouble. We had a feature room which was amazing. The decor is lovely and the facilities in the room are great. The mini fridge with fresh milk to compliment the tea/coffee making facilities and fresh water is a bonus. Warm, comfortable and relaxing you couldn’t ask for more. The dining facilities cater for everyone with a wide choice available and a lovely selection for breakfast. In a great area too with lots to see and do, including the Holt Garden Centre which is full of plants and garden accessories and you even get a money off voucher which we put to good use. We have been many times before and will continue to do so. Such a great place.

We stayed in a dog-friendly room. This was ground floor, right beside an easy access back door from the car park to facilitate an early morning leg stretch. There was a hose for washing off very muddy dogs or wellies. The room came with a gift of a new dog blanket and boneos. For humans it had a very good bed with reading lights and bedside table lamps. Fresh milk was provided in the fridge, along with the usual tea and kettle. It was novel to us to have a sign to hang on the door saying "dog in room" for housekeeping's benefit, and we found that helpful.

Breakfast was a mix of buffet continental and trad English cooked to order. The croissants were big but absolutely delicious and light, baked on the premises, and the best in any hotel for many a year. The cooked was freshly cooked and flexible. Fresh loaves were available to make your own toast if you preferred to the standard sliced bread toast from the wait staff.

There was a comfortable lounge, and some games and puzzles for guests' use.

Yes, there was a kettle, teapot, cups and saucers, teabags, instant coffee, home-made biscuits and a bag of sweets on a pull-out tray in a recess under the dressing table top (which the Nespresso coffee machine stood on), alongside the built-in fridge.

No we do not have a lift but we do have 24 rooms on the ground floor and the bathrooms have either large walk in showers or baths with showers overhead. If you require a first floor room we will carry all bags and luggage to the room.
