We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Du Lion D'Or. Well-appointed rooms, charming with modern amenities like large flat screen TV (although we didn't turn it on because of the beautiful scenery outside) and wi-fi. We went hiking in the Pyrenees for a few days and came back to Hotel Du Lion d'Or for a second stay. The family who...

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights during a short walking holiday. The hotel was very old fashioned but clean, staff were helpful and the location reasonable. The public rooms and breakfast area are dark and morbid but the breakfast is good. Our room looked out over Rue du Richelieu - we were woken up every morning several times...

I was searching for a hotel in the Pyrenees area for summer hiking, and fell in love with photos from this one. The photos didn't even do it justice. Cauteret is a classic ski town, with gorgeous scenery, and the lion d'or was quaint and charming. They actually do have a small elevator that was helpful in transporting luggage. The...

Make no mistake, this is a gem of a hotel. We had read the reviews prior to booking and made sure that we booked well in advance to ensure a room here for our stay in the Pyrenees. We were not disappointed. From the moment we booked in to our checking out there was nothing that seemed too much trouble....

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay. The hotel is very quaint and a wonderful example of a typical 'old style' hotel, tastefully decorated with charming antiques and skiing memorabilia. Modern day facilities are not neglected however, with lovely showers, coffee machines in the bedroom and wifi. Madame, who booked us in and looked after us took customer service to...

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Lion D'or over New Years at one of the busiest times in Cauterets and loved it. The hotel is right by the lift up the mountains and is really beautiful. The room was so sweet with lots of lovely features, a really comfy bed and even a coffee machine (essential). It also had...

Casual yet well appointed hotel in center of Cauterets. Our room was really a suite with a separate shower and toilet also. Huge towels, heated towel rack, nice linens and even a frig and elevator. Last night of the season so a bit cool without heat yet but very nice.

Stay here if in Cauterets to discover (or remember) what small town hotels used to be like, but this one has preserved all the character, style and artefacts, while completely updating the hotel, so it has got the best and latest of everything beneath a veneer of 19th century accommodation - including the most whizzy showers you will find anywhere!...

Despite our arrival at an unreasonably late hour, we were welcomed warmly. The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast is good --- with freshly squeezed orange juice! But what stands out is the warmth of the owners.

A charming hotel with plenty of character, built in 19th century. The Lasserre family has been receiving guests for 4 generations and look forward to welcoming you. The carefully chosen decor adds a sense of romance to the atmosphere. The hotel has been completely refurbished and, although it has all modern comforts, its traditional charm and warmth have been preserved.
