I am staying in this hotel tonight- 1 night- on a cycling tour of Normandy. This was supposed to be the highlight of our trip which coincided with our 25th wedding anniversary- booked by agent ; sea view requested. Large room ( tick) sea view ( tick) large bathroom NO BATH ??! I’ve cycled 160k in 3 days ( not a cyclist normally) and need to soothe my body with a soak… Asked for change of room- much smaller room offered so stuck with shower only. Except that the shower then flooded - not just a bit but the drain was blocked with hair n scum ball AND the shower door seal was not water tight so the overflow just poured everywhere…. Shower cut short.. Housekeeping cleared it up but there has been no approach or offer from management to make up for this unpleasantness. Someone brought 2 ( yep, 2 )red bush tea bags to the room at about 6pm, unsolicited. I didn’t want these, but being English, some fresh milk for tea makes a big difference. I asked for this but the tea bag individual told me ( not her) to phone room service…. This is a fantastically located hotel with faded grand charm and trades on its literary history. It is not a luxury establishment. As always, satisfaction is about expectation being met and I’m afraid it has not met our hopes at all. Others have had their special occasions marked in some way, not us I’m afraid, and they did know… Just keep expectations low and you might be pleasantly surprised- some guests are seemingly well treated….

We enjoyed a lovely weekend in Grand Hotel Cabourg for the 10th Birthday of our son, very comfortable rooms, pied dans l'eau as we say in french. Enjoyed the beach, la promenade and of course an amazing dinner at Le Balbec

It was not our intention to stay in France for that night or indeed in this magnificent hotel. Due to various ridiculous interpretations of Brexit requirements with consequential Covid implications our stay in this wonderful place with our two dogs was a huge pleasure and relief.

Was an absolute pleasure to stay at The Grand Hotel. From the minute you arrive you are treated to five star service. The building itself is stunning. The suite we had was fabulous with a stunning view of the sea. We tried the signature White Swan cocktail made by a very talented barman. The breakfast staff were so professional yet super friendly. They couldn’t do enough for you. It was like VIP treatment the whole way. It was our wedding anniversary and we were treated to a lovely surprise on our arrival too. Came home smiling from ear to ear. Thank you so much.
