The Calais balladins hotel is an ideal stop on the way to England: the ferry crossing takes an hour and the Channel tunnel brings you there in 30 minutes. Its comfortable rooms are the perfect place for a pleasant, restful stop. The staff's warm, friendly welcome will help make your stay enjoyable. We have 40 rooms with all the comfort you need: TV, internet jacks, alarm clocks and extra beds if necessary. We also have a restaurant, private car park and key distributor.
I really do not recommend this hotel.. Its not clean. Used bed sheets, grime round the bathroom and hair everywhere! Really diassapointed in this hotel and will not be returning. The guy on the reception was helpful which was the only good thing about this hotel

I don’t normally write bad reviews BUT people need to be aware. This was absolutely awful! As bad as the reviews paint it!! The rendering at the front of the building had fallen over the car park when we arrived and we were worried about leaving our car there. This was the least of our worries. The hotel looks like a prison, it does smell fusty and it is dirty. We paid £135.00. When the hotel costs normally 35.00. They refused to give us our money back because the booking was non refundable (would never have booked if i had known the place was filthy). In the end we cut our losses, found a lovely hotel for the same price as this dump and paid again to be somewhere with a clean room. Eventually booking, com gave us 1/2 our money back. My advice is: AVOID THIS PLACE! The car, the beach, the bins are probably better places to sleep than this! …

Probably the worst hotel I have stayed in over recent years. It was not cheap at over 60 euro for b&b for one person one night. The room is just big enough. Somebody else's hair in the bed were not welcome. The plug does not close properly to keep the water from draining away. The weather isnot too hot today but still too hot. There is no air conditioning in the room. My only solution is to open the window wide but not great as I am on the ground floor so security is an issue. Not sure if there is something wrong with the lock as unless you turn the bolt it can be opened easily from outside. I did complain to the person on the desk. He was not very helpful. I just hope the breakfast is good tomorrow or it will be a total disaster. If this was the only hotel in Calais I would prefer to sleep.on the beach. I will not come back again. Certainly one to avoid.....…

This is the worst place I have ever stayed in. First off, they charged € 150 for a dump of a room. There was literally no other rooms available in Calais on May 31st so I had to suck it up and stay because I had an early reservation for the Eurotunnel. I spent most of the night at the nearby McDonalds and in my car just so I wouldn't have to be in the room. The floor hadn't been vacuumed, there were pubes all over the sheets, stains on the floor and comforter, and black mold in the bathroom. Please heed my advice and avoid this place, you would be better off sleeping in your car.

We stayed here for one night after driving up from Paris, as we were heading to Dunkirk and some other places the next day. As per other reviews I wouldn't stay here longer than a night but as a place to sleep it was fine. The room was clean and in line with my expectations given how cheap it was. We walked into town that night and went to les pirates bar which was awesome. We didn't eat the breakfast here.

I pre booked this hotel close to the ferry port, at my arrival was shocked, the building looks rundown, if I hadn't paid in advance I would probably turned away, glad I didn't, the reception is very friendly and the room is clean the bed is firm but good and the bathroom clean with a light but not disturbing smell of bleach.

The place looks like a jail. It smells old and musty. The walls are thin and the rooms are tiny and drab. It looks how cheap hotels look in horror films only the zombies are the dodgy people that inhabit it. Our first room was filthy dirty - body hair in the bed. The receptionist seemed unsurprised but offered another room, which had clean beds but a strange substance splashed on the wall and floor of the bathroom. The breakfast was just cereal and croissants- they were burnt. There was apple baby food in pots and I mixed it with the croissant to make it edible. The hotel is located a long distance from the centre of Calais, it is a five minute walk to a bus stop that will get you to a more central zone. AVOID THIS HOTEL IF YOU CAN.

On arrival we couldn't find the hotel as the address takes you to some houses, then after looking up the hotel we spotted in the pictures that it was actually called "Hotel Balladins" The Car Park the hotel look closed, very run down and not open. On entering at around 19:30 there was no one in reception, the restaurant was closed and there were people hanging around. After finally getting someone to help us they were very helpful. The room had an unusually low bed, almost on the floor, which had blankets no duvet. The room looked very dated but was clean and so was the bathroom. TV but no remote like everyone else says. The walls were very thin and we could hear every door open and close. Breakfast in the morning was very limited to breads, Jams and few bits, however the croissants were lovely. The Pictures on booking.com and everywhere else look basic but nice, don't let them fool you this hotel is in a very poor state of repair.…

We stayed at this hotel for one night because the next day we got the ferry to Dover. The bed was comfy and everything was reasonably clean. A few of the towels were slightly dirty but everything else seemed to be ok. The breakfast was simple but also good for the price we paid. The room had a tv so we could relax before the drive the next day. The staff were friendly. I wouldn’t stay at this hotel for a long period of time but it was ok for the night.
