Had stayed at Campanile before, which have been fine, but this is one to avoid. The room was dirty, mould was growing up the bathroom walls, and the basin plug constantly leaked. We had booked breakfast which was just unbelievable. All the croissants had gone, as had all the French bread. The breakfast selection was terrible and at 9 euros...

As we had stayed in a Campanile before we thought this hotel would be similar. However on arrival we could see we were going to be disappointed. The receptionist was not at all welcoming, the carpet in the lounge was threadbare, inside and outside was in need of repair and refurbishment, our room - although on the whole clean -...

After a long day on the bike we arrived very tired in this hotel. We did the camino de Santiago (The Way of St James) and after 40 days of travelling and hotels we can say this was the absolute worst place to stay. The lady at the desk was extremely unfriendly, didn't even say hello. She could only scream:...

Booked on line as it was convenient for the motorway and was a recognised hotel group. However on driving into the car park we immediately realised we may have made a mistake as the place looked run down and neglected. When we went to reception our fears were confirmed as the lounge and restaurant were both drab and uninviting and...

This was our first stay in a Campanile hotel. We have used other budget hotels before eg Formula 1, Etap etc and been quite satisfied. Location. Not the best location ever, on a scruffy, busy, noisy industrial/commercial estate, but handy for a supermarche and a few restaurants including a Macdonalds and a Subway. Cleanliness. The bed linen was clean, the...

On our annual journeys to the south of France and back, we always use Campanile hotels, if only because we can arrive up until 22.00 and still get a good evening meal. On our last drive from the south, we headed for Chatellerault for the first time and managed to arrive just before 22.00, only to be told that, because...

I use Campanile when travelling on my own as it is a tried and tested format. However, my recent stop at Chatellerault is my most disappointing in over 10 years although the room and en suite were as clean as I always expect. The evening meal was disappointing, a very limited Starter Buffet with no indications of what anything was,...

We are regular Campanile customers all over France, mainly because we know what we are going to get - a simple clean room and an excellent evening meal. At Chatellerault the room was fine, just as we expected, but our dinner was a great disappointment. The famous Campanile buffets were uninteresting with very few choices. They were not kept topped...

This hotel was in the middle of an out of town shopping area. We used it as a stopover on the way to the South of France. It was clean, tidy, comfortable and we had breakfast. Not much more to say to be honest as it was absolutely fine.

a lovely place to stop over night on a long journey. Room comfortable and very clean. We have a very pleasant meal in the evening, menu not extensive but enough choice, and a reasonable choice at breakfast,
