Incredibly warm welcoming team, big and beautiful room, strict application of COVID safety rules, delicious breakfast. Everything was perfect.. A place where we would stay for sure in Rochefort for a next trip in this town.

We stayed two nights at Roca Fortis in Rochefort. After a friendly welcome, we got a nice, large and very quiet room in the annex. Our bicycles were safe in the courtyard (but not dry). The breakfast was outstanding: a large choice of fresh and delicious products, good coffee. We would definitely choose Roca Fortis again.

We stayed 2 nights in this small modern hotel and cannot recommend it enough. We had a bright modern room overlooking a courtyard on the ground floor. Good sized room with small flat TV screen and bathroom with shower. No air con. Breakfast was very good with a nice selection of normal buffet fare and lovely freshly squeezed juice. Staff lovely and helpful and with good English. Only tricky thing is the parking. You have to pay between 0900 and 1800 on the road in front of the hotel but drive round the corner and park and no charge! That's the French for you. No restaurant in the hotel but plenty to choise from in the main square and off the square - just a short walk away. Hotel within walking distance of the Arsenal area where they have rebuilt The Hermione, a famous ship that took the Marquis de La Fayette to America in 1780 to fight in the War of Independence against the British. A near-perfect replica of the 210-feet long three-masted oak ship - stunning! Also there are a number of huge old ship building docks in the area - very Les Miserables!

Our car rental GPS freaked and kept driving us in circles so we were late for our check-in. Knowing that we would be charged for our reservation anyway, we felt safe that we would have a place to stay for the next two days. But NO! They rented our rooms to another party and all of the other hotels were full. We tried an Ibis but they were full and the desk clerk called over 30 hotels trying to find us a room. Nothing! THAT man deserves an award. We are three seniors and had no way to take our medication or to refrigerate our other medication for the next two days. I am blown away by this callous and cavalier attitude not even caring whether we got sick or had to sleep in the car as long as we didn’t interfere with them renting our paid rooms for the second time to others. This was our 16th time to France and our second time to this area. I would caution anyone considering this hotel either attempt to arrive hours early or to to just avoid this hotel entirely. This was our worst hotel experience in thirty years of traveling to Europe. Never again!

Judging by photos - the hotel looked smart and comfortable - so we were looking forward to our short break in Rochefort.
The reception area appears clean, bright and welcoming - and we were warmly greeted by the receptionist. However we were surprised by the condition of our 'comfort' double bedroom. The bed was clean and comfortable, there were chairs and a desk etc but the decoration was worn and dirty - dirty finger marks around doors and pipes, radiators and skirting boards were dingy. It left you feeling as tho' you needed to wash your hands.
There was no comfortable place to sit with friends - no facilities - apart from a coffee machine and kettle in our room with 2 teabags and 2 coffee capsules but no milk. Breakfast was just adequate. All in all a very disappointing experience.

Big rooms, nice breakfast, fast wifi, very friendly and welcoming.
Would definitely go back.
Good value. Great central location, a great stop off point if travelling further south.
Rochefort is a nice place, and the museum of the vintage shops is deffo worth a visit.

In a quiet corner of Rochefort is a hidden gem. The hotel is spotlessly clean and very well looked after. Sure, it is a few hundred years old building and fortunately it has kept its charm.
The owner knows the ins and outs of Rochefort and was very helpfull.
Nice, big, cool rooms with a high ceiling, which always gives an impression of airiness. Our room was furnished with campaigne-style furniture with heaps of character.
Outside is was hot, inside, with the filtered light and the occasional childs voice on the street it was pure bliss.
Fantastic beds with comforters.
In the morning we were greeted by the owner and his wife. We got a freshly on the spot ,home made fruit cocktail to start the day. This with croisants, chocolate rolls, great coffee and a nice choice of goodies to complement the crusty fresh bread.
Sadly enough we didn't have time to spend another day in this hotel as we had to get home.
Will we be back?? Sure enough!!

The Hotel Rocafortis gave us one of our best experiences in France. The hotel is so charming, immaculately clean, and the owners Fanny and Jean-Marc are extraordinarily helpful, kind, charming and welcoming. The recommendations for dinner (O’Bistrot de Sud, especially – I will never forgot such a delicious meal),sightseeing ideas, helping with the reservation for our next hotel, gorgeous petit dejeuner, and more.

Our room was delightful and one-of-a-kind with lovely period furniture, quiet and immaculately clean. The location is superb - walking distance to the historical sites in Rochefort, to the main square and good restaurants.

The hotel is the best value we found in France, and the most memorable. We recommend Roca-Fortis most highly!

A small hotel in a old building. Clean, spacious rooms. They provide Nespresso machine and a water kettle in the room. No lifts. So watch out if you require one. The breakfast is good with a reasonable variety. The city square is at walking distance.
