First time eaten a meal here. We liked the touch's of the petite bouch and the good service plus iit isn't overpowering. The pineau Charentes is as always excellent. All 3 courses were excellent. Ambience is good. Whilst one is best to drive it isn't that from the bus stops should you wish to sample their extensive wine let (which for us was not on the cheap side!)

I have no doubt that we are not the only travellers who wish to break a long car journey. Being barely 5 minutes off the A10/E5 places this hotel in an ideal position. A grand entrance and a drive along a tree-lined way, sweeps you completely away from the traffic of Acquitaine. Clearings amonst the trees provide parking areas and for Tesla owners, charging points though sadly none available for other models of electric car yet. At the top of the drive is set this delightful hotel. The decor is typical of a country house. The rooms comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast - quite one of the best we have had in France, was taken in a dining room overlooking 2 small lakes, within the hotel grounds. Breakfast orders taken on arrival, were served in individual wire baskets and placed on side tables by one's own dining table. A truly delightful stay. We have already made a reservation for a return trip

We have stayed in this charming hotel twice a year for the past ten years on our annual drive to and from the south of France.
When we arrived at the hotel reception this year we asked for a reservation for dinner as normal but we were disappointed to to be told that all the tables in the restaurant were reserved and that our only option was to drive into Saintes to find somewhere to eat.
We were then told that if we wanted breakfast the following morning we would have to confirm our choice of coffee or tea bag in advance.
We realise that we are living through a pandemic and things are not back to normal as yet but found the hotels attitude regarding meals a little bizarre on this occasion.
Never the less we rate this hotel highly and will be staying their again.

Most rooms have not been renovated since what seems like the 80s. They are not particularly clean. The overall decor is very unwelcoming and in very bad taste which even a motel would beat. We had an incident this evening as my family (10+ of us were staying here) were having dinner and ordered a "piece" of cheese. Instead, we got several plates of cheese and were charged 150 euros for the cheese. The lovely waitress Swann misunderstood and admitted to her mistake (it happens). When contesting the bill, Florence the rude receptionist got involved and said that if we were not going to pay, it was Swann's fault and she would have to pay from her salary. First of all, what was her right to make such a decision? Secondly, who even says anything like this? We settled the bill needless to say and spent the remainder of the evening boosting Swann's morale and telling her she had a bright future ahead of her as soon as she would leave this joke of a property. For 160 euros per night, what you get is terrible.

We spent 2 weeks traveling in France and stayed overnight on our way from SW France to St Malo.

If this review was about the restaurant it would be 5 stars, the dinner was superb and the chef and staff should be commended. We know the French love food and the care, taste and presentation of the dinner was unique and exquisite.

If the review was about the hotel we would however have given it no better than 3 stars. Other reviews list out the positives and we agree, friendly helpful staff, a small green oasis in a commercial area by a motorway, very easy access. Safe parking. Quirkily decorated, clean. We arrived at 4.30pm and sat outside reading in the sun in pleasant surroundings.

For my wife and I it started a debate about are we looking for a good nights sleep or a cultural experience?

I would hate to own a private hotel because the branded travel hotels have raised the bar so high. So where this hotel doesn’t measure up is in bedroom investment where the branded hotels excel. No air con, (difficult to sleep as the room was too hot) only 3 plug sockets in the room and as one was for the tv and another for a light which was needed. Bed not up to best standard. Inadequate lighting ie difficult to read in bed as no bed side spots etc. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room. No safe. Bathroom adequate and quaint but needs updating. Modest size room. Very average breakfast.

The management team are wonderfully warm and welcoming, making both us and our pet cat feel at home. The rooms are large and well-appointed with the best ones overlooking the fabulous park.

Dinner in the restaurant is an occasion and is popular with locals and hotel guests so must be booked in advance to avoid disappointment. The chefs clearly have a passion for the ingredients, and these are fresh, reflecting availability on the day and local produce more generally.

Saintes is a short walk away and is a beautiful town with lots to do and see. The hotel assisted with booking restaurants in town and making sure we had the best table and superb service.

We were more than a little sad to have come to our last day, but will return because of the fabulous experience we had the pleasure to enjoy at St George's.

We stayed for 4 nights and our experience was very positive. Our rooms were decorated individually which our children and myself loved as we were in the Jaguar car room!
There is a lovely pool that we swam in every morning.
The grounds are also delightful with jumping fish and a beautiful swan called Matilda in one of the large ponds.
The food in the restaurant is mind blowing with amazing flavour combinations. We had moule one night which my wife really enjoyed.
Can't wait to go back again and try out another room.

Excellent stop between Portugal/Spain and the Netherlands. In a park, an old farm has been transformed into a fine hotel. Rooms are not large but very comfortable. Restaurant is excellent. Hotel is welcoming dogs, that was for us a big plus.

The hotel is ideally located to all the main routes the grounds and facilities or very pleasant. all the staff were very helpful and went out of their way to make us welcome.
However 52 euros or £42 for a double gin and tonic and a double vodka and coke is disgraceful, we would expect this at the George V in Paris not a 3 star provincial hotel.

Dear Guests, First of all we would like to thank you for your kind comments about our staff, they are indeed passionate in creating a unique experience for each guest. The Relais is situated a few minutes from the motorway and it only takes 10 minutes to get into the city center. We regret your disappointment concerning our drinks list, however at the Relais we strive in serving only the very best. Therefore our selection of alcohols is composed of high quality products which explains the price tag. We hope this clears any concern you may have. Kind Regards, CT Manager
