Good value hotel in walking distance of most sites, museums, amphitheatre, etc. Big rooms some with a balcony. Next to a busy roundabout but don't be put off, rooms well soundproofed. Good breakfast & very friendly staff.

Rooms, bathroom and breakfast are basic, but correct in proportion with the rates. Staff is friendly and helpful. Hotel is central located in Saintes what makes it easy for a walk to having dinner outside.

There was just something so lovely about this hotel. So full of French character and such friendly owners. Very clean throughout the hotel which is so important. There was coffee making facilities in the room but some erratic replenishment of supplies... One day we one recieved one sachet for the two of us! So I suggest you get a little coffee jar from the local Carefore just in case. We had a fantastic room with a wonderful and large balcony which allowed for great people watching. It is also a fantastic location to visit the surrounding Charante region as it is pretty central to everywhere.

Good sized room with one double bed and a single. Comfortable beds with nicely laundered bed linen. Mainly a quiet sleep but other guests obviously do not always understand how to close doors quietly late at night or early in the morning but that isn't the hotel's fault. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel because there are plenty of places to eat in Saintes but what was on offer at the hotel seemed very nice. Free wifi was intermittent and not really up to the standard you would expect these days. Nevertheless, new TVs were being installed while we were staying so things are improving.

Location is brilliant! Close to the centre of town and to the fantastic attractions of a Roman Ampithetre, histroric churches and lovely gardens. A plethora of restorants and bars are in very close proximity and there is a Boulangerie right next door! There is free parking around the local area but be warned we had our hire car key scratched in the local car park behind the hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend. It was nice to stay somewhere that retained charachter.

Nice overnight stay , found this place on our way to Spain from Calis on 17 Dec . The lady/owner who checked us in was very welcoming & pleasant . The room although basic was spotlessly clean would recommend.

We stayed just one night but were bitten by fleas so that we cannot recommend this hotel. Almost 100 flea bites made me remember this night longer than it should have done. The lady at the reception desk said that they will observe this. Hope that won't take too long!
The rest of the stay was ok, but the cleanness is not acceptable.

We stayed here for one night in July 2012. Hotel is well-located, close to the town centre and easy to find from the A10. The owners were very welcoming and let us check in slightly earlier than the agreed time. The hotel has a private garage with parking spaces bookable in advance. Rooms are a decent size with and have an en-suite with a bath tub, and ours also had a small balcony with two chairs. There were a few booklets and maps in our room outlining the main sights of Saintes, which we found very helpful as first-time visitors. Breakfast was lovely and varied, and the owners made sure that we had everything we needed. Good value - would definitely recommend.

A great visit and a real find, we stayed in Saintes as a half way stop down to the deepest south of France. It's a lovely town and lots of sites of historical interest. The hotel itself is very well located in walking distance of the river, town and amphitheater. The hotel is very clean and the staff were friendly, it's a little basic however a good stopover overall close to the main roads of travelling through France.

It's actually a good rather than average hotel, it is rather old-fashioned and the rooms we had were rather small, but the price was right and the owners very friendly and helpful indeed. The breakfast was excellent, served in a very nice and spacious room. I would recommend that air conditioning is installed to increase the comfort. The wifi worked well and the impressive historical city centre and some nice restaurants were within walking distance. We are hoping to visit Saintes some time again, to see the magnificent cathedrals in detail, also the Roman amphitheatre.
