Le Val Thorens, a Beaumier Hotel, is celebrated for its prime ski-in/ski-out access and strategic location in Val Thorens, perfect for ski enthusiasts. The hotel boasts immaculate rooms and a dynamic atmosphere with a cool 70s vibe, complemented by a lively bar and elegant decor.
While the well-equipped spa and diverse dining options add to the guests' experience, some believe there's room for improvement in the wellness areas and value for money aspect. Service is warm and attentive, and the stunning views from the spacious rooms are a highlight, though a few guests encountered smaller rooms and Wi-Fi issues.

We stayed at Le Val Thorens for 6 days in January and truly enjoyed our stay. This was our first time in Val Thorens - we used to go to Courchevel before but wanted to try Val Thorens due to better snow and skiing quality (which turned out to be 100% accurate).
We decided on Le Val Thorens after reading the reviews and couldn't be happier with our choice. To summarize the positives:
- Super helpful staff prior to and during the visit. Reception and concierge were very friendly and responsive before the stay as well as during the stay and helped us with room choices, dinner reservations and ski school bookings. Some staff didn't speak very well English but overall great, excellent service. Special shout out to Pauline who was very friendly and helpful.
- Very nice and modern hotel. Especially when compared with Courchevel 1850, you are definitely getting better experience for your buck. Better furniture, more elegant design, better specced and more spacious rooms, better food, better service etc. Plus spa - pool area, albeit a little small is very clean and well equipped and certainly provides a nice relaxation spot after a day on the slopes. It would be fair to say you'd have to pay 1.5x the price to get the same quality of a hotel in Courchevel.
- Excellent location. Along with Le Fitz Roy (which belongs to the same group and is literally next door) this is unarguably the best location in Val Thorens. Directly in the center of town, walking distance to all the restaurants, ski-in ski-out which definitely helps with a 5-year old, in-house ski rental and ski room etc. The outside eating area also boasts a nice view of Val Thorens and the mountains which is a plus.
Small note on improvement areas: - The room (Privilege Room) was a tad smaller than we expected although definitely a large room in ski resorts standards
- Our room's cleanliness wasn't impeccable when we arrived but we understood that was due to a broken elevator (fixed that day) which led to delays in moving around the cleaning equipment. Overall cleanliness of the hotel and the room was very good later on.
- This might seem a bit of nitpicking but the hotel needs to enforce a "dress-code" in public areas. In all hotels / resorts there are rules about wearing a shirt in dinner areas etc. In this case, a lot of guests were going to the spa / pool in their bathrobes (which is perfectly ok) but then heading to the bar / restaurant areas in bathrobes as well. Sitting next to 8 dudes in bathrobes in a bar while trying to enjoy your drink is a bit awkward :)
Nonetheless, we had a great experience overall and would definitely stay here again.

We stayed half board. It was a stay of 2 halves, food wise. The morning breakfast; food and service was very good, the morning manager was a lovely lady. While the food in the evening Brasserie restaurant was good, the menu only had 4 starter and 6 main course options (without a supplement) of which, 2 were vegetarian options and DID NOT change for the whole week we were there which was very disappointing, especially considering the prices charged. Even a salad buffet at dinner would have been great. In addition, the service needs significant improvement. On one of the evenings, there were errors with the meal order and we were there for nearly 3 and 1/2 hours, very annoying. Writing down our order, would have prevented the errors! The Fondue restaurant was good but difficult to get a reservation, again the menu did not change. The location is great, very accessible to the slopes; we suggest clearing the snow from the path into the ski room, that would have been very helpful. The rooms are good, well maintained and clean, the pool area was lovely and the reception area was comfortable for playing chess in the evenings. The restaurant really let the hotel down and we would not go back on a half board basis.

My experience at the hotel was absolutely positive, exceeding all my expectations. From the warm welcome to check-out, every aspect of my stay was flawless.
The room assigned to me was spacious, bright and incredibly clean, with a breathtaking view that made waking up every morning a real pleasure. The bed was extremely comfortable, ensuring excellent sleep after busy days of exploring the city.
The services offered by the hotel helped make my stay even more pleasant. The breakfast buffet was varied and of high quality, with options to suit all tastes. The free WiFi was reliable and fast, allowing me to stay connected without any problems.
The overall atmosphere of the hotel is relaxed yet elegant, a balance that helps create a hospitable and distinct experience. Whether you are in the city for business or pleasure, Le val thorens represents an excellent choice that combines comfort, quality and impeccable service.
If I had to suggest one area for improvement, it would be to slightly expand the options for vegan guests at breakfast. That said, the staff was extremely accommodating, trying to accommodate my requests.

We stayed at Le Val Thorens hotel for a week over New Year and we are so glad that we chose this hotel! All of the staff members were incredibly accommodating and friendly, nothing was too much of an ask for them. The rooms are comfortable and warm.
The breakfast was delicious and we were always greeted with a warm smile from the staff who worked hard every morning.
The location of the hotel was perfect. The ski in/out feature was absolutely perfect, it saved our legs after a day on the slopes! There are a variety of different restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance. The hotel also offered a driver to drive you around the resort which was a nice touch.
The bar Le 1971 within the hotel was always lively, particularly for apres ski, where there is tasteful music playing and excellent drinks to choose from.
There is a ski shop attached to this hotel, which made rental extremely efficient. We were able to collect our skis and put them into our designated locker in the ski room.
As we went over the New Year, we were able to watch the amazing fireworks from the terrace of our hotel - this made the stay even more special!
We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Val Thorens.

Amazing hotel that has had a lovely makeover from head to toe. A nice chilled hotel on the slopes of Val Thorens. Ski in and ski out location. Sit on the new deck with a cocktail watching the world go by.
Has a nice 70s retro theme to it throughout the hotel and in all the rooms. We travelled with Crystal Ski and had a lovely little room overlooking the main village. Rooms were warm and welcoming with some nice modern touches (nespresso machine, tablet, bluetooth speaker) they were cleaned and made up on a daily basis.
We had the half board option which also included one night at their fondue restaurant. Some good options for all, although maybe some more choice for a hot breakfast would be a welcome addition, maybe an egg station or omelette to order.
The staff are very polite, friendly and welcoming. We arrived before our rooms were ready but they kindly stored our skis and luggage, and then transported all our bags to our room and our skis to our ski locker. A nice added touch was warm cookies and a bottle of bubbly
Location is perfect, on the snow so you can ski in/out even if you're a beginner as you have the magic carpet opposite to get you back. It's also close to the bars, restaurants and shops. It also has it's own pool, sauna and spa facilities. Very relaxing at the end of the day with great views of the mountains as you relax in the pool.
I would definitely stay here again and encourage others to try it out. Perfect for couples. Loved my stay here.

This hotel, the location, the food, the staff, the decor, is completely sensational and utterly faultless. We never want to stay anywhere else again! I think one of the things which made this trip truly unforgettable is the staff - which went a long way as it was a special occasion, so having such a friendly, helpful and welcoming team really made us feel super special (They were also kind enough to upgrade our room, which has never happened before!) From reception, La Fondue, breakfast and the dinner, to the terrace, everyone treated you with such warmth, this probably was the highlight to be honest. The spa was divine, the view for an evening swim is unbeatable (we also travelled as a couple with no children in half term and it was wonderful!) The rooms and decor are just divine, and walking around the hotel, the lobby has a lovely atmosphere (and smells divine!) Breakfast had incredible choice, perfect for fuel before hitting the slopes! We ate at La Fondue and the restaurant, both were utter perfection and the restaurant really was a stunning dining experience, and again, the staff really made this special. We were half board (worth mentioning this to your server so they are aware (a couple of times we accidentally signed our room number but this is if you aren't half board so they can charge to your account, so this was very helpfully rectified at check out by the staff!) The gorgeous Diptyque bath products were a gorgeous touch too and the house staff are so efficient, everything is always replaced and clean!
Worth a mention, as I haven't ever been to Val Thorens skiing, but I have been to lots of other resorts, but can confidently say the skiing at Val Thorens is perfect, something for everyone and we have the Val Thorens Valley pass which was more than enough for a 6 day stay. We've been to other resorts and this was by far my favourite skiing (lots of piste options!) The ski in ski out aspect was perfect so you can nip back to the hotel for a nap, afternoon spa session or a quick drink (rosé on a sunny afternoon on the terrace overlooking the mountains was unbeatable!) Lots of other activities such as zip-lining , sledging, night tours on a snow mobile or piste basher and the town is literally on your doorstep, so plenty of supermarkets, bowling and bars to explore (the market also ran twice whilst we were there, afternoon into the night and is right outside the front of the hotel - highly recommend the mulled wine stall!)
To be honest, this place deserves a 5 Star title, because every single touch was utterly faultless and everyone was so courteous, nothing was too much trouble, I cannot recommend this place enough and I'm just so thankful to everyone making my partners birthday so special, I'm forever glad I stumbled upon this place and booked, I hope other people have such a magical time as we did!

Great location, spa / pool very good, breakfast fine but no or poor on any fruit provision. Do not book half board as evening food is very poor, vast amounts recycled, had to send meals back. Fondue was good but the issue was the brasserie. Staff who worked at the brasserie were great .. just a kitchen issue. So overall good place to stay but eat out / no half board.

We stayed for a week & arrived on New Years Eve. From the moment we arrived and throughout our stay all of the staff at the hotel were fabulous. They were all so friendly & looked after us extremely well. The hotel was spotless & rooms very comfortable & well furnished with plenty of storage space & complete with everything you would need, kettle, fridge, smart TV, Bluetooth speaker & tablet plus a really good hairdryer. The boot room was the cleanest I have ever experienced, with heated boot warmers & very accessible to the slopes. There was a great choice at breakfast & I loved the freshly squeezed orange juice. We stayed on half board & every meal, in the two restaurants, was excellent & beautifully presented. The swimming pool & sauna are very clean & a lovely place to relax & unwind after a day on the slopes. The hotel exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend it. Hopefully we will be back again sometime.

Hotel great location. Although food was very poor for France. Booked half board but was told by reception we had to book every night for dinner. We arrived at 19.15pm one evening to no salad had to ask staff to replenish it. Food was left in small bowls under heat lamps that were to high to keep food hot .Main courses were generally cold. Seemed to be a shortage of fruit at breakfast. Only one coffee machine which kept breaking down. Was told we could eat at the Fondue restaurant next door . Then told we could only have 2 dishes each so would have to pay the extra if we wanted dessert. Had a village facing room street very noisy even with ear plugs. Staff however were really nice. Such a shame food was such a let down. Definitely not worthy of a four star rating. Sorry!

A change of dinner location in resort. Nice looking hotel being slope side and restaurant. Lively atmosphere and busy. Waiting staff attentive and drinks order taken, closely followed by our food order. An amuse-bouche offered, delicious. Starters of “Perfect Egg” being Forestier mushrooms, Savoy ham chips, a portobello sauce and the perfect egg in the centre. The other dish ordered was the ‘Grilled Scallops’ Scorzonera, butternut squash and chestnuts. Both beautifully presented, and tasted delicious. Mains ordered, both had the chicken stuffed with a mousse in a creamy mustard sauce with field mushrooms and chunky potato chips, not a morsel left on the plate. Desert, both had the Chocolate crisp, Crunchy hazelnut praline chocolate. Didn’t have room for coffee. A very delicious well presented meal.

There is a good ski shop at the hotel. It might be a bit more expensive, but if you are beginners I would really recommend it. It is not fun to be carrying equipment across streets and you might need to change it after the first or second day. You will regret saving in this.
Ski lift is expensive. As a beginner, you might not need the pass for the 3 valleys, only for Val Thorens.
You will be tired after the ski, not much to do.Nice restaurants across the road/piste.
"Ignore the bad reviews. Use ear plugs for the night noise (not the hotels fault, but if you want the location of the slope and village then expect a bit of noise). "
