Detailed Reviews
My wife and I took a trip to Big White and decided to stay at the Chateau Big White in mid December 2019. The hotel is conveniently located right beside the Plaza chair lift but you do need to go up a slight hill.
The room was big enough for the two of us and it had the basics for what we needed. We were there primarily for the skiing but having a few more comforts would have been nice. The room we had did not have a full size fridge so we did have some trouble getting everything we needed stored for our stay. The gas fire place was nice to have but the room was always very warm so we hardly ever turned it on. We found it odd that there were no dressers or drawers to put anything in. Not a big issue, we just lived out of our suitcases. The hotel provided robes which was convenient for when we went to the outdoor hot tub.
The hotel provided ski locks that could be used in the hotel ski locker when you store your skis overnight as well as on the mountain during the day. There was also free underground parking.
Overall we had a great time at the Chateau Big White.

We took a punt on where to stay in Big White. Our daughter is working there but we had to book accommodation before she arrived.
Our punt was very successful!
We booked through Central Reservations which was seemless and very efficient.
Chateau Big White is in the main village and within walking distance of the supermarket, ski school, centre management, ski hire and bars and restaurants. There is also a nice restaurant on the ground floor.
We had a three bedroom apartment that also had a kitchen, lounge room, dining table and two bathrooms.
The drying room is on the first ground floor and very convenient.
I can't fault the accommodation (the bed in the main bedroom was only a double, not a queen).
Central Reservations booked us a taxi to take us to Kelowna and the driver was there five minutes before the scheduled time.
We had a great time and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Great location for ski-in ski-out. Poor lighting particularly in the bathroom. Needs to be renovated. Difficult to regulate temperature and hot air rises to bedroom. Hot tub, widely advertised doesn't work and locals say it hasn't worked for years.

My son and I travelled to Big White on the weekend of January 5/6, 2013. We were very excited as this was our first time at the resort. I booked through the central reservations line. The Chateau Big White is nice. It has free parking and the staff are very friendly. We put in unit 209 right beside the door of the ski in/out door. We didn't know this until we went to our room. There is also a lounge and a restaurant to the right of the unit as well as a bar right across the alley of the room. Needless to say we did not get any sleep between the people leaving the bar all through the night, yelling from the one across the alley and in the hotel itself. Very very loud. When checking out I mentioned this to the staff and they have heard those complaints before. I was very disappointed. My son was there for a snowboard competition and needed sleep. We will go back to Big White for sure but we will definitely not stay at the Chateau Big White.

Dear Lissa A, Thank you for providing your feedback and comments about your stay with us at Chateau Big White. I am sorry that you were unaware of the noise that can occur around this area of the hotel. We do post alerts about this issue on all of our descriptions of this unit and others with similar concerns. However, at the time, your options may have been limited by availability as the reservation was made one week prior to arrival. I hope your son is still competing and that your family returns to Big White to bring home fonder memories -- and possibly a podium finish!

My partner and I recently spent a week snowboarding at Big White and stayed at the Chateau Big White. The location of the hotel was excellent, with several restaurants and the supermarket and liquor store within metres of the hotel. I was a little concerned that the bars close by would be a bit noisy but we never really had any problems. It is also right next to the top of the Plaza Chair and a ski run that ends at the plaza where you can access chairlifts that go all the way up the mountain.
We stayed in a studio apartment which had all of the amenities we needed including a small kitchen, ensuite and space to dry out our ski gear. The gas fire was also much appreciated after a day on the slopes.
Hotel staff were very helpful and assisted us numerous times with various things throughout our stay. If anything, housekeeping were too helpful, as they left us care packages when we asked for our room not to be serviced which meant that we ended up with a lot of extra shampoo bottles etc. We did appreciate how thorough and generous they were though!
Packaging our lift passes, rentals and shuttle bus with our accommodation through Central Reservations meant that everything was ready for us in advance and went very smoothly

My husband I stayed here the first week of April. We were happy with the accommodations. The rooms were a bit dated, but were clean, and for the price we paid for our room we were very happy. We stayed in a loft room with a small kitchenette. We didn't end up using the kitchenette, as there was a wide selection of restaurants within walking distance. We enjoyed the hot tub located on a deck outside after a long day of snowboarding, and we appreciated the locked up room with racks for our gear.

We travelled to Big White by car from Vancouver, this trip is not for the faint hearted!!! We experienced ice cover Roads & blizzards, but we finally made it, some 8 hours later. The best way to get here is to fly to Kelowna. The hotel is situated at the top end of the village main street. Perfectly located to most of the restaurants & Bars. The rooms are a tad on the smallish side, but a very comfortable & cosy and serviced each day. Our room opened out onto a balcony and 3 steps where on the snow. A true ski in Ski out hotel.

My husband and I have stayed in three locations around Big White. We found the location of Chateau Big White to be very central and one of the most convenient places for ski-in, ski-out. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff. After injuring my knee, the staff,(Laura, Louise and Johnny) were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to help arrange transport to get first aid from ski patrol as well as arranging ice packs etc.. We really enjoyed our stay there and would be happy to return.

Chateau Big White is located right in the center of Big White village, across from the small market and next to a number of bars and restaurants (the Black Diamond restaurant is in the Chateau). One of the chair lifts ends right next to it.
We've been regulars at the hotel, usually always stay there between Xmas and New Year and always get one of their 'loft studio' rooms - a two-level room with a kitchen/bar, bath and a TV/seating area downstairs and a sleeping area on a balcony above. These rooms sleep up to 4 (2 + 2 kids perhaps) if you pull out the couch downstairs but are really intended for two. There is ample storage space for your stuff (especially if you arrive with suitcases) and ski equipment can be stored in the ski locker room (with card access).
There is underground parking for hotel guests which is great as parking in the upper village is really limited and once it starts snowing or gets really cold you don't want to dig out your car from the huge parking lot in the Happy Valley area.
The rooms have wireless internet and cable TV, fridge, M/W, hot plates and your usual kitchen utensils. No dishwasher, though. The Chateau has an outdoor hot tub area on the 3rd floor and a laundry room for guests in the basement (comes in handy sometimes).
The staff is always very friendly and helpful and unless the place is really packed they usually let us check out late (yeah, no first tracks for me these days...)
There are certainly fancier rooms available in Big White but convenience/location and price has worked out really well for Mr and Mrs Albit so far.

Excellent location at Big White, easy to access slopes for skiing etc.
Room was very big, and clean with loads of space and a full kitchen so easy to prep breakfast before skiing. Staff were mostly friendly and welcoming. A bit of a mix up on check in, we arrived early not expecting a room but asking to park as we skied for the day before checking in. Cha at reception said that our room was next to be cleaned so would be ready shortly, which was a bonus so we headed out to ski. I returned 2 hours later and asked about Checking in, as I thought our room would be ready as promised earlier, to be told. Your room isn't ready, I said OK, do you mind if I wait in reception as it was very cold -20 outside, and I was told "Check- in is not till 4pm you know" I replied, yes I am aware and I did not expect and early check in but was offered one earlier in the day before skiing. I quietly waited and read a book and at 2 minutes to 4pm another couple came in and got a room straight away, I rechecked if ours was ready to be told, "Its almost ready, we have 3 housekeepers off sick". So at 4pm usual check in time we still waiting for room we were told was almost ready at 11am, and being told about staffing issues. This was a bit of a rough way to introduce the hotel to us, don't offer early check in if it is not available, especially when I did not ask for or expect it, the leave us waiting till after 4pm and check in other people while I sit at reception waiting.
Aside from the check in debacle the stay was excellent and room well appointed and comfortable.
