We were lucky to be some of the first guests on August 1st. Warm welcome with a nice glass of bubbly and friendly staff. They still have some construction going on, so we could not use the gym or balcony, the outside area still awaiting completion of green areas, etc. Walking into the hotel is like walking into a new world. We even thought the green entry had a nice smell but maybe our minds were playing tricks on us. Loved the theme and it carries all the way down the hallways (there are bird sounds) to the room. We had room 227 and it seems to be the biggest type. The kitchenette was well equipped that we wished we were there for more than 1 night. It even had a mini dishwasher!! The swing was original, as the bench for the table and chair were nice to work or eat at but to watch TV (it could swivel for viewing from bed to the table). I can really imagine staying there for a couple of weeks as a solo person. Lots of storage too. Seems that they offer housekeeping every 3rd day (and donate 1 Euro the days they don’t come..so days 1 and 2). We also enjoyed their famous drink at the bar and 50 cents of that is also a donation. We went up to their rooftop area and I can see there being a nice chilling spot when all is done too. The beds are firm. The AC..well we are not sure if it was working correctly or not. It seemed to not run much, even though we thought we had it turned up but only when we reentered the card into the area to “turn on” the room, did it show a blue light and you could hear it blowing air. Once it did that for a couple of minutes..it would shut off, light too. So we did not sleep through as we were hot. The only other thing that is really missing, when you are in bed..there are light switches next to one side of the bed but one of them does not do anything and we are hoping that is for a light or table lamp (that is just not there) for being able to read in bed. There seems to be no lighting where the bed it and only overhead ceiling lights were are not that cosy when you are in the bed. We did not have the breakfast…I think that would have to be included for me. The only other thing that might need some tweaking—the doors to the stairwells are really heavy and when they close—they are really loud because most people just let them slam shut. I do wonder if the black cabinets and kitchen fronts will be hard to keep clean from smudges and fingerprints, as the black tiles on the walls of the bathroom. We would not hesitate to stay with Rioca in KN again and should we come across one in another city—we would love to stay there. Thank you Team Rioca Konstanz!
