Booked through the Tourist Board Office . The hotel was a bit old fashioned but he room was spacious the beds comfortable and the rooms clean and tidy. The breakfast was usual german continental but it was plentiful and the staff friendly and helpful.
Rooms and breakfast are lovely, but the helpful and caring staff makes this hotel very special. A family member was hospitalized while we were in Bingen, and they were extremely helpful in a myriad of ways. We stayed at 3 hotels in Bingen. Starkenburger Hof is a great value. Rooms are lovely and newly refurbished. The location on the river is convenient to trains and sightseeing boats.
Here are some positives. First it is a value. If you are looking to save some money this is a good point. The breakfast is also very good and gives even more value. The staff are friendly and nice. The location is very good, it is right on the street closest to the river, the park is directly in front of the hotel, very walkable to a train station, city is right there. It is clean. However, its old and rooms could be redone. They did try to offer free wifi which was really nice but it did not seem to work. The walls are thin you hear all sorts of people coming in at all sorts of hours through the night. The train tracks are directly in from of the place and trains run through the night. We would try to find another place next time.
We were placed here by our reserved hotel due to a maintenance issue. At 10pm when we arrived, the appearance was not appealing. It was down right old and creepy. The third floor is roped off and the hallways are very dark. Our room was on a very busy street with a train going by every few minutes. Since it was hot out, we had to leave the window open so there wasn't much sleeping! The Wi-fi was intermittent. However, the room was spacious enough with a large bathroom that had a bath tub/shower. The water was hot with excellent pressure. The man at the front desk did not speak English but seemed nice enough. In the morning, the breakfast was included and adequate in a nice little dining room. The staff was very nice. It is a very quick walk to the boat docks, but if multiple trains are moving, it can take at least 10 mintues before you can cross the road.…
We booked the Starkenburger Hof because we took a Rhein cruise from St. Goar to Bingen. We had to call the hotel, person spoke English, because of confusion booking through hotels.com. The hotel is very close to the where the boats dock and a wonderful biergarten. The staff are extremely friendly. The room was large, we had a 3 bed room, with bath ensuite. The breakfast was a good as we had in Germany. And, they take credit cards. I highly recommend this hotel if you stay in Bingen on the Rhein.
