This since 1446 family owned Boutique Resort Hotel with 64 non-smoking rooms and suites is located in one of the most beautiful areas of Germany: the Southern Black Forest in the little town of Hinterzarten. The family owned hotel is headed by Katja Newman in the 16th generation. She combines both tradition and modernity in a perfect way. Last renovation: 2000. A very individual and cordial service makes guests feel at home. The individually styled rooms and suites are mainly located in the main building. Allergy sufferers will find very cosy rooms in the typical Black Forest House, some with a low ceiling height (around 1,90m). It was built in 1639 and houses the regional "Adler Stuben" restaurant. Kids will find a lot of space to play. If the weather is nice they can enjoy discovering the outdoor playground, ping pong and volleyball in the hotelpark. Mountainbike and slides can be rented out for free. For indoor activities the hotel offers an indoor playground. The spacious family suites and rooms are available for families with up to 3 children. The modern Wellness Pavillon with its 1.800 square meters is located in the beautiful private 4 acres hotelpark. Relax and enjoy a heated indoor and outdoor pool (both opened the whole year round), an indoor and outdoor jacuzzi, different saunas, a steambath, a gym, solarium, a SPA with a selected offer of beauty and health treatments, last but not least - a hairdresser. The Parkhotel Adler is rich in tradition. It is the perfect place for guests seeking for relaxation or an action-packed break. Another highlight for Parkhotel Adler guests: free greenfee on the 18-hole golfcourse "Hochschwarzwald", only a 10 minutes drive away from the hotel.

Nestled in a serene village square, Parkhotel Adler impresses guests with its harmonious blend of style and comfort. Praised for its professional service and attention to detail, the hotel offers a cozy atmosphere and luxurious amenities, including a celebrated spa and diverse dining options.
The spacious rooms receive accolades for their cleanliness and decor, contributing to an overall sense of well-being. While the location is picturesque, the absence of air conditioning is noted, and the sauna size and additional charges may be a concern for some.

It's the 80th anniversary. My wife's birthday spent 4 days at the Hotel Adler. The wife was greeted with congratulations from the hotel both at morning and dinner as a VIP person, which was very nice to us. We also highly appreciated the free wellness treatment as well as the bathroom and the whole wellness area. The staff was always very friendly and accommodating in all parts, we were spoiled culinary and the hotel room was very spacious. We can recommend the Parkhotel Adler in all parts.

Even in summer, the trip to picturesque Hinterzarten is worthwhile and "our" Parkhotel Adler leaves nothing to be desired. Wonderful flowers delight the eye and a walk in the hotel's own park is a must.
Once again we admire the romantic onion-domed church, which is right next to the beautiful hotel.
Our room 17 in the annex has since been beautifully renovated and comfortable box-spring beds helped us sleep wonderfully (parquet floors, pretty decoration, clean rooms are also a joy). Not to forget the included drinks from the minibar.
The spa and the swimming pool are connected to the annex by an underground passage. The treatments in the spa were very pleasant and a MUST when staying here. The pool is magnificently located in the park.
The whole hotel looks fresh. Everything is very classy and tastefully decorated. These old buildings have a special charm.
For us, the price-performance ratio is right, as a sumptuous breakfast, a delicious lunch (buffet), a wonderful tea time with sweet and salty treats and an evening meal as the highlight with a really sensationally fine 4-course menu are all included.
The staff is attentive and very, very friendly.
Hinterzarten offers attractive leisure activities in summer and winter (hiking, swimming in Lake Titisee, cross-country skiing, skiing, etc.), which makes a stay in this house even more enjoyable.
In summer, it is advisable to reserve a table on the terrace in advance.

Basically, the hotel deserves its very good review: Our room was on the third floor with beautiful views to the large, wonderful park. The room was bright, spacious, very clean with nice beds and pleasant mattresses. In the bathroom, the glare-free bright, very pleasant lighting for us stands out. The only defect: it had two doors slamming against each other.
The main building is connected underground by a beautiful corridor to the restaurant, as well as to the indoor pool. Shortly before the bath there is a reception desk for beauty and wellbeing services and a well-equipped gym - unfortunately with poor lighting and lack of ventilation. The indoor pool exceeds expectations. The circular original building is functional but still appealing and has access to the park, also one which leads swimmingly to the outdoor pool. In the bathroom indoors and outdoors, there are many different rest options. It also has a bubble bath each.
The park is divided into themes, well-maintained and large, even with two ponds, a small stream and a deer enclosure, even those who are getting married were thought of.
The restaurant “Adlerstuben” stands out for its rustic style to match the whole building and this in turn is richly decorated with flowers. However, for tall people (from about 180 cm) it means bending down! Cooking is very good and equally stylish, but the menu should be richer.

I first heard about this hotel legend as a young man in the 1970s. Our three-night stay turned out to be more subdued than expected.
The hotel's very well-kept park (including a fallow deer enclosure) is certainly impressive, and does the hotel name proud. The glass bathhouse with its outdoor facilities is also impressive.
We were less impressed by our junior suite, however. Although it appears to have just been renovated, you notice the structural crampedness of an old building at every turn. Unfavorable room layout, which leads to discomfort and makes some things cumbersome, as well as a lack of storage space in the bedroom for what you need. You shower in the bathtub and the two mini sinks in the bathroom are also due to the (predetermined) lack of space. The elevator takes ages, doesn't announce its arrival, and can only hold two people. The narrow stairs in the main building (up and down) can only be used as a "one-way street".
The breakfast buffet includes what should be standard in a hotel of this classification - and of course is here. No more, but also no less. There is absolutely no reason for exuberant enthusiasm or even praise. The latter also applies to the friendliness of the staff.
The kitchen services are solid craftsmanship at a higher level. The three evening menus to choose from are generally well thought out. However, the fact that on two evenings two menus each included a fish dish as the main course seems very strange. How about a nice pasta dish for once? Considering that this is primarily a hotel kitchen with corresponding budgetary constraints, the sauces in particular are of a high standard. However, you cannot tell in any of the dishes that the chef is supposed to be a luminary in this area as a spice sommelier.
The average age of the audience present is around 75 to 85 years. In the afternoon, they sit in rows reverently in front of their tiered chairs and pay homage to the good old days. This shows that the Parkhotel Adler is particularly popular with the older generation and is in high demand.
CONCLUSION:
If you are a nostalgic person, you will get your money's worth here. Experience has shown that younger people prefer more modern hotels. However, it should not be forgotten that the hotel is supposedly one of the best 101 hotels in Germany according to the Hornstein list 2022/2023.

We decided for a ladies weekend for the Parkhotel Adler and found everything we were looking for. We have been to many hotels, but distance Hinterzarten-Zurich with just under 2 hours, price/performance and top service have convinced us.
The hotel is decorated with great attention to detail and tastefully converted. You can feel a loving frair between old and new combined. Wonderful rooms, restaurants where you feel immediately at ease, wonderful food and very friendly and professionally trained staff complete the feel-good package. The wellness/beauty treatments were the icing on the cake, we will definitely come back.
Many thanks dear team from Parkhotel Adler

If you are looking for a special break from everyday life, the Parkhotel Adler in Hinterzarten is just the right address. The moments of well-being begin when you check in at the reception and move into the spacious, very well-equipped rooms.
A special highlight are the wellness facilities with a beautiful indoor and outdoor pool as well as several saunas that leave nothing to be desired. The pleasure pension is pure seduction. The wonderful breakfast was already an experience, afterwards there was a lunch snack, an afternoon tea and a very good dinner at a high level. No wishes went unfulfilled. Also our grandson felt very comfortable. The Parkhotel Adler can only be recommended in every respect. We will definitely escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life there more often.

As always, our short break in the Adler was again very relaxing. The service was great, the staff extremely friendly and helpful, the kitchen even better than last time. As always we also liked the Afternoon Tea with the beautiful piano music, the wellness landscape was very well maintained as always. We are already looking forward to the next short break at the end of July ! Thanks again for everything!

We stayed at this hotel for family reasons and booked at short notice. Another extension was easily done by the reception, we got a good offer for a junior suite. These we found from the decoration not necessarily typical of the country and also quite gloomy (main house). Positively noteworthy is the cuisine and service in the restaurant (breakfast is, in our view, especially expandable in the fruit area), the really very sumptuous afternoon tea with excellent piano accompaniment and the wellness area, especially the warm outdoor pool. The sauna area is small and closes already at 19:00. overall the house is in the price – performance area from our point of view in the upper quarter; we would prefer a house next in the Black Forest, which emphasizes more the local and regional character.

The Parkhotel Adler in Hinterzarten is a family-run traditional hotel in the luxury segment. Beautifully located in a park with small lakes and old trees, the spa, indoor and outdoor pool with hot water, the quality of the served food, the cozy atmosphere and the warmth of the staff convinces. For me, it is a gem in the Black Forest, which makes me forget the sometimes capricious weather at 900m altitude. I love the charm of this 500-year-old building in its origins, the delicious, rich breakfast buffet, the high tea with pastries included in the total price. This hotel is just as suitable for a cozy weekend for two as for a family with small children or for a family gathering with 3 generations.

The hotel, food and golf were simply great and very well organized.
The bar could be a bit more comfortable and better staffed. The man at the bar was very competent when it came to mixing drinks and making recommendations, but unfortunately he was often the only one serving and preparing drinks.
This time we had our very nice room in the Black Forest House and from 5 p.m. we could clearly hear the Wiener Schnitzel being prepared by the pounding of the meat. This didn't bother us too much, as it was quiet again from 6 p.m.
