Stayed for two nights as part of our walking holiday. Warm welcome, room pleasant and food was fantastic based on local produce. Barn room was set up for a wedding the day we left and looked amazing. Car would be required if not on hotel to hotel walking holiday.

We had a fabulous four nights at the Waldhotel. The valley was snowy and magical with wonderful walks straight from the door (snow shoes and alpenstock were available from the hotel too). In spring, summer or autumn it would be possile to wander far and wide from here. The rooms were basic but comfortable - nice beds, clean bathrooms with...

we stayed here for one night and wished it would have been many more. Fantastic choices at breakfast. Freshly cooked breakfast, very good coffee and huge choice of Tea Pig teas. We enjoyed the range of breads on offer. The room was big enough for two for even a longer stay. High pressure shower was impressive. I could pay bill...

My husband took me to this lovely hideaway for my birthday at the end of April this year.Had it not rained, we would have stayed a day longer to enjoy long walks through the woods and lonely paths. A perfect place for a weekend, to be away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The restaurant offers very personal...

Our second visit, we made the one night trip especially from a touring holiday in Switzerland just to sample the excellent food. The rooms are large and very comfortable, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The set dinner is excellent quality, mostly home grown, lots of small courses of beautifully favoured dishes, using herbs from the garden. As a...

Very surprising experience. Sophisticated food and perfect service in the middle of nowhere.Beautiful landscape. Nice, clean, comfortable rooms. A little bit old-fashioned bathrooms, but plenty of hot water and clean, huge towels. Very personalized service. Good breakfast. Wide selection of herb-teas and ecological food. Very recommended.

Nice restaurant a bit outside of Hinterzarten. The food was nice and the service was outstanding. This restaurant is a bit pricier than the average restaurant in the area, but well worth it. You should bring some time, as preparation is not the fastest. The restaurant has plenty of space inside and also some seating outside. Note that only two...

This small hotel is a welcome respite away from the madding crowd, no shops or cafes nearby. What bliss, we could feel ourselves relaxing after an hour of arriving. Beautiful scenery, clean rooms & great service. Josef the owner & our host went out of his way for us. It is important to know that he is also a great...

Good place to stay if driving the route 500(Black Forest drive). Only 28kms to Freiburg. Lots of walking to do. The hotel is privately run by owner chef. He goes great lengths to welcome you. He is the chef and tries to source his produce from local areas. His is innovative in his cooking. Worth coming for the food. Good...

We booked on line from far away Australia to experience a White Christmas but got a green one. However, the experience of staying with Joseph Fehrenbach, the ever smiling and engaging host, has exceeded our expectations! A perfect secluded, romantic location not far from the pretty village of Hinterzarten, personalised, friendly service, a creative cuisine out of this world using...
