We had the opportunity to enjoy a good sampling of what Liberty had to offer during our short visit. We had dinner at their on-site restaurant, stayed the night in one of their executive suites, and then partook of their breakfast the next day. Overall, this is worth every bit of the 4-star rating, and maybe even a 4.5 if it was available.

Dinner: We went with the multi-course menu Liberty was offering the night we were there. Everything was beautifully prepared and had wonderful flavors. It is a relatively expensive meal, but you feel like you are getting the service and quality to make it worthwhile.

Room: The executive suite where we stayed was really cool. From the visible beams to the artifacts that remain from when this place was a jail, there was a very unique vibe to the room. It was also quite large by European standards and nicely appointed.

Breakfast: Was far more casual than at dinner, to include a portion of the breakfast being set as a buffet, but once again all of the prepared parts of the meal were very tasty.

Overall, we would not hesitate to visit Liberty again.

We stayed here as our first stop on a road trip, the staff were very attentive and welcoming throughout our stay. The rooms, and the entire hotel throughout is finished to a very high standard whilst keeping a lot of the original features. Our room was very quiet even though it was located facing out onto the main road.
The food in the restaurant was fantastic – I would highly recommend booking for dinner and include breakfast on your stay.

We stayed at this hotel in order to meet close friends from Germany we had not seen for a while due to Corana restrictions. Both couples being Food and Travel lovers we were looking for a Warm, joyful, quality environment to spend a good time together, dine, wine and enjoy life. The liberty ticked all boxes. The quality of design and used materials is simply impressive, the ambiance is casual despite the upscale appeal and the team appears like a bunch of friends who serve friends while putting all required professional skills into play. I’ve barely seen any upscale hotel or restaurant with such genuine service. Not to forget: the food was gorgeous. Merci & We’ll be back!

This hotel has a lot of character and has very comfortable rooms. A lot of pleasant details in the room. Friendly employees. We loved the design of this hotel: the old buildings connected with modern architecture.
The only thing: the restaurant was fully booked for dinner when we booked in the morning so we had to have diner elsewhere in town. Hoteliers have to make choices because of COVID. But still I don't understand why hotel guests don't get priority when booking a table in the hotel restaurant.

I write very few reviews, as a business traveller you're hopping around a lot, plus I’m kind of hard to please! But I feel I have to tell you about the Liberty hotel, it's an absolute jewel... And probably belongs in London – somewhere in Mayfair… but I'm glad it's here close to where I work.
Originally this was a prison which has been converted to an extremely high standard, no expense spared on the rooms or any other element of the hotel - the best furnishings and décor, the finest bed sheets and luxury towels, very small touches that make a huge difference from the luxury chocolates in the room to the small mice they leave on the bed as a momento of the stay. I would also praise the quality of the restaurant, and the exceptional service provided by the staff. You have to ask yourself what is a five star hotel? Is it the pool or the spa area… not always, and to me this is a five star hotel. Credit to the designers, management and staff.

This a beautiful hotel with creative, very modern accommodations. It has been fully restored from an ancient prison, and there are humorous reminders that once upon a time, you did not have the liberty to leave. A tiny toy mouse on the bed is there to share any bread crumbs. The gourmet restaurant is amazing. The staff is cheerful and welcoming.

Let’s start by saying they took us to the wrong room. Then when confronted the receptionist was like mmmm I am not sure what room that is let me look it up. Seriously what front desk staff have no idea of what rooms are what in a boutique hotel. So the next day things went from farcical to comical. From the we can not change the language on your information system to the cleaners forgetting to replace simple things like cups in a room clean (the next day leaving dirty cups behind) front desk seriously just could not help and did not know how to help. Day 3 was a if it was not so late I would have walked out moment. Do not expect to do what most tourists do and come back in the late evening (9pm) and expect a meal. Even though they offer room service and say the kitchen is open till 10pm @9.15pm they start shutting down. They forget people’s order, serve bread that was cut at lunchtime and left out since then. Oh and don’t complain about them forgetting to order a main course or the quality of food is below par because the smug little manager of self declared over importance will have an answer for everything rather than hearing the customer out and working on a solution. Oh and one last thing do not bother calling the 900 number it is never answered and always busy. That’s because the woman working reception is always in the kitchen. We have 16 hours left in this hotel. Let’s see what they can screw up between now and then. But on a good note if you want an amazing hotel with stunning features then stay here, but just like been the former prison it is, if you do get to stay here remember no amount of complaining will get listened to, you are locked up for the stay and can complain as much as you want it will just fall on deaf ears.

We stayed here just for 1 night (unfortunately as we would have loved to have stayed longer) as we were attending a party in the town. We'd been so busy at work we hadn't had chance to really check it out so weren't sure what to expect, but I can honestly say we were completely wowed!!

The renovation of the former prison is absolutely top notch, very stylish and very high quality. Every detail has been carefully thought about and chosen so well, we just loved all the elements from the gorgeous bath in the bedroom, the sliding en suite pocket door clad with lovely antique mirrored tiles, the trendy matt black sockets and the oh so comfy bed.

All the communal areas were similarly impressive, from the concrete flooring, to the trendy Qlock clocks I've been coveting, the neon Liberty sign on the internal brick walls, and the beautifully open plan feel to the bar, reception and restaurant areas.

Not only that but the service and the attention from every member of staff was faultless. I wasn't so well in the morning and they handled that faultlessly, keeping the breakfast service open for me until after 11 and being so attentive and understanding. Although I couldn't consume as much breakfast as I would normally I loved what I had, and the perfect fried eggs and thin crispy bacon really set me to rights. We just couldn't fault it.

If you're in the area do stay here, it's a 10 out of 10 for us and that's saying something given we're very particular. We'll certainly be back!

Sind im Hotel hunde erlaubt?
