We reserved this good middle-class hotel directly at the fair in Offenburg, where the annual Christmas circus is located, and were satisfied with the stay.
The rooms are well and appropriately equipped. On the 5th floor there is a beautiful swimming pool with sun loungers and a sauna. The rich breakfast buffet in the restaurant leaves nothing to be desired. A wide range of menus are available in the à la carte restaurant and you can end the evening with a cozy drink in the lobby.
The journey is by train and bus (stop Messezentrum) is easy to reach. The buses run every 15 minutes, but be careful on Sundays and public holidays, the buses only run every 1 hour! There are parking spaces in front of the hotel for EUR 12.00 per day.

The hotel offers spacious rooms with decent quality, we went for the comfort rooms especially after a long drive to reach Offenburg. We called the hotel to book the rooms especially that the rates they provided were better than online.
The receptionists were very nice and we got the parking complementary with the rooms and the suite we booked.
The rooms are nice having a TV, a good sized bathroom and sufficient space to store our big luggage and hang our clothes. They were clean and tidy upon our arrival.
The sauna and swimming pool were closed due to “Technical issues” and the hotel only offered breakfast in its restaurant. The breakfast is uplift was ok but choice of coffee was limited to instant coffee. There’re several types of honey and jam. No warm options except for pre-prepared scrambled eggs, which tasted bad, and boiled eggs; overall I think that breakfast has a good room for improvement.
Overall a good experience with room for improvement.

The room was really nice, cozy and clean; there was also a kettle with coffe and tea.
Bathrooom with bathtub (always a bonus) and hair dryer. The staff was really nice and ready to answer every possible requests. They have a restaurant in hotel ( losed on Sunday) but there are also a lot of places to eat nearby, and the town center is only a 15-minutes walking away. Pool and sauna at the 5th floor and there also vending machines at every floor.

The only thing I dont recommend is the vegetarian Flammkuchen (see picture). They usually serve it at breakfast but I ordered it for lunch because the restaurant was closed. It wasnt all bad I guess, it just... It wasnt nothing special. They could have added more vegetables or a sauce.

This hotel has undergone Very little renovation or improvements in the past decade. (They did change the lobby and removed the bar. But it was most likely to relieve the receptionists from having to serve drinks).

Where to start...
The very old fashion beds (not box spring). The double bed is just 2 single mattresses side by side with 2 small duvets.
The mini bar that was not very cold with only an orange juice and a beer.
The towels that were small and thinner than a t-shirt.
Housekeeping that came in the morning twice on check out day. Why isn’t management organized enough to inform housekeeping of guests checking out and to wait until after checkout time to clean the rooms??

It is definitely worth it to stay in the hotels in town which are only a few minutes away if you want good value for your money, comfort and just simply Better.

This hotel is not a 4 star hotel, at all

during the FIFE worldshow 2023 had the displeasure of staying at Mercure Hotel Offenburg, and I must say, it was a dreadful experience from start to finish. The hotel's complete lack of awareness regarding the options booked through their website (cat in room, extra kids menu though website) left a sour taste in my mouth from the very beginning. Even though our booking confirmation clearly displayed that we had paid for these additional options, it led to a frustrating and unnecessary discussion upon our arrival, and the hotel claiming we still owed them 100 euro.
One of the most concerning incidents during our stay however was when, between 3 and 4 pm, someone entered our room without so much as a knock or announcement. My partner and my child were both asleep at the time recovering from a long drive , which made this invasion of privacy deeply unsettling. It is unclear to the hotelstaff at this point if this was someone from housekeeping (the timing is weird) or if they made a mistake with keycards, and the hotel is unwilling to fully investigate.
But that's not all; my experience with the hotel's dining services was equally disappointing. I have a severe allergy, and on a Saturday night, I inquired about the safety of a salad due to my allergies. The lady in the restaurant assured me that it was safe to eat, saying, "this dish does not contain nuts or seeds at all anyway." I trusted her recommendation and ordered the salad with confidence. However, the next day, I received an entirely different dish that contained pesto (which often contains nuts) and pumpkin seeds, not to mention shellfish, which is a significant allergen. This inconsistency in service and misinformation regarding allergens is not only unacceptable but also potentially dangerous to guests with allergies.

To make matters worse, on the same night, we ordered three lasagna dishes from the hotel's restaurant. After waiting for an excruciating 50 minutes, we were served lasagnas that were still frozen in the middle. We sent them back, only to receive new lasagnas after an additional 40 minutes. Shockingly, the second batch was also frozen in the middle. The server's excuse that "he had told the chef to put them in the oven longer but that the chef hadn't listened" is simply inexcusable. This level of negligence is unacceptable for a hotel of this supposed caliber (awards on door etc)
By that point, it was already 9:30 pm, and we had had enough. We canceled our order and had to resort to dining at a fast-food chain to satisfy our hunger. This was far from the dining experience we expected from a hotel of this standing.

In conclusion, my stay at Mercure Hotel Offenburg was marred by a series of disappointments, including the hotel's lack of awareness regarding website bookings, the invasion of our privacy, misinformation about allergens, and a shocking failure in the restaurant's service. I would strongly advise anyone considering staying at this hotel to think twice and explore other options, as my experience here was nothing short of a nightmare.

We stayed at the Mercure for one night as we were transiting via Offenburg. We had booked via booking.com but when we arrived the hotel charged us extra for parking which clearly wasn’t mentioned to us before we arrived. The extra parking made the cheap price less appealing. They also charge a fortune for breakfast and there was barely anything (don’t take the breakfast option!), no fruit and just yoghurt, bread, pastries and cheese and ham. The rooms are also old and the beds not very comfortable.

We are used to stop here in Offenburg when traveling back from Northern Italy. See my other reviews since 2017. We have been a bit disappointed last year, so we gave another chance. No improvement at all.
We still appreciate the location (close to the highway, but still quiet), the rooms (spacious) and the breakfast buffet (delicious).
But again, the restaurant (which years ago was very recommendable) was unmanned for dinner. We found a good alternative in the city centre.
The pool (still mentioned when making a reservation) was unavailable due to technical problems.
Is there a manager to run this (otherwise good in the past) hotel ? They seem to complain on the difficulty to find adequate staff...

This hotel is our usual stay when returning from Italy back to Belgium. We appreciate, this time also, the location and the comfort of the rooms. Due to COVID however, not a lot of personnel was available, and in particular the cook was ill, obviously without a backup. As we were a bit tired, we did not want to go in the city centre for a restaurant. The only available food at he hotel was those "flammkuchen", obviously taken out of the refrigerator. Not even a dessert available... Not a good experience !

This was a break for our kids to have a chance to pick up some of the culture before learning German at school.

The hotel is apparently not far from the motorway (couldn't see or hear it) , we travelled to Offenburg by train so on arrival with heavy bags we opted for the 10 Euro taxi ride.

The hotel is situated on the edge of the town, from the station a walk of between 20 and 30 minutes depending on your pace ! It is an easy walk and a quite safe area.

The hotel is clean and welcoming, the staff making sure that your stay is as comfortable as possible. In fact the staff during our stay were ever so friendly and couldn't do more for you.
We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food was great, if a little pricey but faultless. A good choice of local wines was available too!
In the morning the buffet breakfast is vast, from fish to cereal, traditional to cheeses... Great value ! The staff were always pleasant and friendly to the children and around helpful bearing in mind that this is probably more geared towards the business traveller

The swimming pool is a huge plus to chill out following a hard days exploring.

We went to neighbouring Triberg and Baden Baden by train, easily done from the hotel, there is a bus that runs irregularly from the town past the hotel.
