I was actually not sure what rate to give this hotel... because so much depends on expectations. The good: Easy to drive up to, park. Nice location with rooms facing the Rhine and a view of the Lorelei Rock. Room was a good size for two, had a little table and chairs so you could sit looking out over the Rhine. Yes you are on the main road but at night there was virtually no traffic. WC a tad small but fine even for my 6'3" husband. We arrived at dusk but walking to the heart of town was easy on a wide, well lit sidewalk along the river - even after a bottle of wine vo n the dark, no prob. And the views of Sankt Gaurhausen across the water very pretty. Breakfast was a good version of the typical German buffet: lots of cheese, yogurt, fruit, cereals, meats, baked goods, juides, scrambled and boiled eggs, bacon...but the coffee needs improvement! Good value at the rate we paid. NOT so good: very thin mattress and a very uncomfortable over sized foam pillow. Ultimately a good bed and bedding is very important for a hotel. Just improving the pillows would make a better night's sleep!…
I can’t say enough good things about this small hotel. The staff was amazing and made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. We stayed in the family room and for the 3 of us it was nice to be able to spread out a bit. The rooms are fairly basic but comfortable. With the windows open at night there was some train noise but this was to be expected. Everything that we had at the restaurant was delicious for both breakfast and dinner. We also enjoyed relaxing for a couple of hours in the spa which we were able to reserve just for our own use... great after a day of hiking to Rhinefels Castle and a local winery. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
WE absolutely loved this hotel, its friendly staff, the position, the food and even our quaint little room. Perfect position to get to the various tourist places and to hop onto a River Rhine cruise. Sadly we could only stay here one night and had to move on.
I have been in this nice normal hotel last week, I have to say that the view from my window was amazing, directly on the river... The room are enough large and the first day they welcome you with nespresso coffee and a bottle of water. Then for the additional nights they don't give you anything unless you pay... I went the second night of my staying to get a bottle of water, and the waiter tried to charge me 4 euro. I was shocked, it was like gold. She saw my reaction and charged only 2 euro. Another issue was with flies in the room, it was extremely hot and no ac was available, when I opened the window I was full of flies. The place is neat and clean, few things to improve.
We had dinner here one evening and the waiter was most helpful in helping me decide what to have, since I had never been to Germany before. The food was delicious but, for me, the portion size was too big. We enjoyed our visit there.
