The Chedi Andermatt is celebrated for its exceptional service and luxurious amenities, including a spacious spa and a variety of dining options, which have earned it high praise from guests. Travelers are impressed by the cleanliness and stylish design of the generously sized rooms, although some suggest that the rooms could benefit from more natural light. While the hotel's atmosphere and commitment to environmental consciousness are applauded, opinions on value vary, with some finding the cost justified and others deeming it too high. Stayed here for two nights at the end of June and have nothing but great things to say. We rented a car to drive all the Swiss passes and it was the perfect home base in the area for us. Charming. Great architecture. Great interactions with staff and a very welcoming environment. During our visit it was not very crowded and that added to the experience for us. My wife regards it as her favorite hotel she’s yet to visit. Nothing but great things to say. Strongly recommend.

Throughly enjoyed every moment from our arrival to our departure. The staff were sharp, obliging, and instrumental to the absolute meticulous attention to every detail that was included in our stay.

Check-in was a breeze thanks to the quick valet and helpful concierge. The two women (sorry I wish I remembered their names they were so great) who helped us check-in were so kind. They helped us get a reservation at the Japanese restaurant. Also, they gave us a tour of the first floor so we wouldn't have to guess where to go for our dinner or other activities. They also accompanied us to our room and helped us understand how to use the tablet to control the temperature, the lighting, the fireplace etc. They offered great recommendations on all of our questions.

I was blown away by the design of the entire place from the lobby, the spa, the restaurants. However, we were not ready for that room. I wish I could make it my home. The fireplace now that is a smart idea! The beautiful bathtub and dream bathroom, the control tablet, and of course the view from the balcony! Also, the complimentary wine was such a nice touch! After the journey to get there it was nice to take a moment, slip on the most comfortable robes, have a delicious glass of red wine, sit on the balcony and take in the beauty all around us. Ugh just I CAN’T even, as the kids say these days.

The spa was such a treat. The staff in the spa kept the spa so clean and neat and I loved that the communication was clear on sanitizing before entering and the limit on the number of people in each area due to coronavirus. The design of the spa is the most beautiful I have ever seen. We spent one day having treatments (Deep tissue massage & Tata Harper Recovery Body Treatment - 90 mins) Highly recommend both of those and we hope to come back and try the other treatments.

Our Japanese dinner was a one of a kind experience. There are things I tried at this dinner that I’m sure I wouldn’t have been able to try anywhere else. The breakfast is so lovely and the staff for breakfast and lunch were all really great too. Especially at our breakfast and lunch. We weren't sure what to do with all the cheese (we're not on the Swiss level of cheese eating yet :) ) However, the breakfast server (a woman whom again I wish I remembered her name !! I'm so sorry) she recommended so many ways to eat the different cheeses and was so attentive. In general, just top notch all the way around.

Thank you to all of the staff at the Chedi for making our quick trip so enjoyable. We really appreciate you!

Since the moment that we arrived at The Chedi, we felt the highest level of hospitality.
The staff who is extremely welcoming, fun, and professional will make you feel super welcomed.

We arrived in a car and for a very reasonable price we used their valet service, the lobby and other common areas are beautiful, and more amazing was the staff that took us around on a little tour on the way to our room.

The room was breathtaking, with wonderful Swedish beds from Hästens and the interior design was outstanding. The only minor thing for me was that the bathroom (even if gorgeous) had quite low lightning, which makes it hard to do your make up.

The Spa area was so nice, all parts of it, a very complete spa! We enjoyed massages as well and the therapist was extremely professional.

One of the biggest highlights of The Chedi was the way in which all the staff members were synchronized, everything went so smooth and easy.

We can't wait to be back!

We stayed 3 nights over the new year’s holiday in „The Chedi Andermatt“. Andermatt offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains.
As the hotel is under the top 10 of some hotel ratings we would like to share our experience:

The room:

1) The aircon in the room not worked well. It was too warm despite having the aircon on the highest power. I told it too reception and the receptionist even didn’t ask for our room number, I had to tell it on my own. Nothing happens and in the following nights we had to open the balcony door several times
2) The bed is too soft, it would be comfortable to offer toppers to the guests. 3)The light in the bathroom is too dark for makeup
4) At the first 2 nights we had no bottle opener in our room so I was supposed to open bottled by fireknife.

Pool and spa:

The pool and spa area looks very nice. But its mandatory to be completely naked or to cover everything by just a towel. We were asked to take off the swimsuit or to leave the sauna. I understand that in Swiss culture it’s normal to be naked in a sauna but as you are an international renowned luxury hotel with ( I think) guests with different cultural backgrounds it would be highly preferable to have an option where you can use sauna in swimsuit (maybe 2 separated areas).

Additionally we had a spa treatment: Thai feet massage and a love bath. I lived in Thailand for a long time and got a better feet massage there at each street corner. The massage was much too soft and we weren’t ask if the pressure is fine. The water in the bathtube was much too hot so we had to spent our time to put cold water. It was not possible to take a bath in the water before. We were not ask if the water temperature is fine.

Food and beverages:

Coming to the food and beverage options: On our first evening we had a dinner in „The Japanese“. Before ordering we had to wait a too long time without any staff recognition. All the details was not on the level of similar Michelin Sterne Restaurants in Asia. The Sushi was served only with a little bit of ginger and without Wasabi. After asking for Wasabi we got a little bit only. Additionally the pieces of Sushi were too big for eating at a whole.
The new years eve dinner in „The restaurant“ was well presented but the taste was not on a high level. Some of the dishes taste below average. The cheese was very good. Also the breakfast was good. One time we ordered room service, it was just average as well.

All in all, for a room rate of about 2000$ per night over new year holidays we expected a much better experience.

Dear lloschei, Thank you very much for choosing The Chedi Andermatt for your New Year's stay and for taking the time and sharing your detailed report. Furthermore, thank you for the compliments regarding the infrastructure and location. On the other hand we are sorry to learn that unlike the majority of our guests you were not fully convinced by our service. As explained already on site, only the sauna and hammam are naked zone, all other parts of our 2400m2 Spa & Health Club are only accessible with swimsuits. However, we are a bit surprised that none of the other mentioned points were brought to our attention during your stay - therefore we simply did not really get a chance to turn around or improve your Chedi experience. Nevertheless, we thank you once again for your visit and the detailed report. Wishing you all the very best for the new year. Kind regards, Jean-Yves Blatt General Manager & The Chedi Andermatt Team

We had a nice suite with 2 rooms. When arriving it took some time for check inn. The hotel is an island in Andermatt that is more moderate Swiss destination. But The Chedi is even more expensive than hotels in St Moritz and Gstaad ,resorts that have proven themself for a very long time. When we enterd our suite it's really impressive big but you feel more in a beach resort in summer instead off skiresort in winter. The bathrooms are amazing, the living room also, the terraces not to say about. But than the lighting is very poor, we had a kitchen but you couldn't do anything with it. The turning down services is not efficient. We could only have dinner in One of the Three hotel restaurants so they knew when we where not in the room and even than they come to bell so they may start. That's a little bid the problem off the whole hotel staff. There is a little bid a lack off effenci and friendliness. The restaurant serves good food but what to expensive and we didn't feel real welcome. The ski butlers looks to be a good idea but they are not efficient at all. I even think that the real problem starts from the beginning that they forgot to make a skiroom where your booths and gloves can be heated as is the standard in high end ski hotels. The spa is realy impressive but the inside as also outside pool are 2 tot 3 degrees to could if you ask me, also some lighting in the outside pool would be nice. If you go for the first time to the mountains and you like the modern hotels and skiing is not the first purpose than you can have a nice experience but if you are used to go to good hotels in good ski resorts than is the Chedi in Andermatt not really the place you want to be. Also something that is difficult to understand is you have to pay 30 CHF to park your car, fair enough but he they don't park the car inside. A new schotel like this has at least an underground garage where a car with skibox can enter.

Dear Q8155UWdavidd Thank you for your recent stay with us at The Chedi Andermatt and for sharing your personal experience. We would like to thank you as well for the compliments regarding the hotel rooms and infrastructure and are happy to learn that you liked the style and Chedi concept overall, which is clearly different to any other 5*hotels in the Swiss Alps. On the other hand we are sorry to learn that unlike to the majority of your guests, our service couldn't fully convince you. During your visit the hotel was fully booked and I am sure you will understand that slight waiting times may occur during such busy days like X-Mas and New Year's. Please be informed that our Skibutler concept was especially designed the way it is - the heating for the shoes and the storage of the ski equipment is on purpose not in the guest area, in order to have a cozy lounge for a real "Ski in" and "Ski out". We thank you once again for your visit and time and wishing you all the best for the new year. With kind regards from Andermatt Jean-Yves Blatt General Manager & The Chedi Andermatt Team

We have been to Chedi several times and are looking to forward to going again.
The rooms are very spacious with 2 coatrooms. 1 Coatroom by the entrance of the room for your ski clothes/ sports clothes and 1 by the bathroom where you can get dressed. Great shower, ect. The beds are also from Hästens, just amazing.

I would fully recommend to always explicitly request a room in the main building facing the "pond" the otherside is looking onto the parking. The SPA, gym, check- in/ out, restaurants are all directly accessible by elevator from the main building. The are quite a few buildings and not being in the main building can be quite a walk...

Throughout the hotel including the rooms the hotel design is kept. All materials are of top quality. What looks like metal, stone, wood or leather is also the "real" deal.

Good room infotainment, light, temperature, chimney, music settings all can be managed through the ipad in the room.

Food to recommend is the spicy beef salad as well as the pepper beef.
When it comes to the breakfast, the food is good but when staying several nights it can get a bit boring. Some daily specials additional to the "normal" selection would "freshen" things up.

Good location 1.5 hrs south of Zurich Airport, easy to reach by road or train - the station is right next to the hotel.

The hotel itself is lovely with spacious well equipped rooms and bathrooms. The spa is impressive and treatments we had (massages) were excellent. Ski and boot room is well appointed and makes things easy. Quick walk across the road to the lift to the main ski area or the hotel will take you to the other ski area lift.

A couple of small grips that the service wasn't 100% on point at all times as one would expect in a 5* hotel and the prices of some of the dinning was on the high side - CHF 38 for a club sandwich! The Restaurant is good but again pricing on the high side.

Would recommend this experience, you do get what you pay for.

It is rare to find a hotel that ticks all the boxes and this one most definitely does.
The hotel itself is beautiful. Modern, comfortable and immaculate.
The food is superb, whether it be room service, in the lounge areas or the restaurants. The selection, flavours and presentation were all super. The dim sum, burgers, truffle tagliolini and apple pie were all excellent.
The service is exemplary, the staff were so attentive and eager to please, nothing was too much.
I am not a skier myself but the staff in the ski room go above and beyond to help in anyway that they can which I found particularly useful given that I have no idea what I was doing!
The rooms are beautiful, reflecting the tone of the hotel. The attention to detail is super impressive.
This was such a professional operation, I cannot fault this hotel and very much look forward to returning.

Very nice hotel calm and relaxing.
Our room was fabulous and we had amazing views. The room itself was very relaxing and a pleasure to sit in at night reading as we are older we like to eat early and then relax in our room. Our bathroom was amazing only complaint a little dark early evening for putting on makeup.
The breakfast was fabulous everything to choose from and the staff very pleasant.
We had dinner in the main restaurant which was good,a few hiccups with our food, but not really a problem as we liked what they gave us instead of what we ordered. The staff were very pleasant and very apologetic did offer to bring what we ordered but for us not a issue as we eat mostly every kind of food and what they brought was very good.
We ate a few times in the bar as we like to eat early and they serve food all day. Staff in the bar were extremely friendly which is why we went back for a late lunch or early dinner.
We also ate in the Japonais restaurant very disappointed. Food was good but the girl that served us was very unfriendly and didn’t know how to smile. We had to ask her 3 times to explain the menu, as to us it was complicated. Instead of trying to make it easy for us to understand she was very offhand which was the start of a bad experience.
We didn’t like the atmosphere in the restaurant and certainly would not return. In our opinion the girl with the blonde hair that was our server should take lessons in how to look after and serving guests from the bar staff possibly she should be told to smile it does make a difference.

Dear Anand C Thank you very much for your kind request and happy to hear that you are planning to visit us next summer. Dear Werner d, Thrilled to learn that you intend to visit us next spring. Just for your information, the property will close its door during a few weeks next year, due to renovation and maintenance purposes, but we don’t know yet the exact date. Andermatt is offering deep gorges, cascading waterfalls and clear mountain lakes – in the Swiss Alps summer, Andermatt and its surroundings are heaven for golfers, hikers, bikers, anglers, nature lovers and anyone in search of relaxation. Cultural events and unforgettable indulgences round off any Andermatt summer holiday. At the weekend you’ll see plenty of classic car fans travelling over the passes around Andermatt in their shiny vintage vehicles. Its central location in the heart of Switzerland makes Andermatt the ideal starting point for a Swiss Alps summer vacation, from which you can discover all the variety of this Alpine nation, from cultivated Zurich to the world-famous Lake Lucerne to the Mediterranean ambience of Tessin. We sincerely hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you next spring, but in the meantime, wishing you a great years end. Kindest regards, The Chedi Andermatt Team
