Stayed only 2 nights in this charming small hotel in the very quite Fex valley. The hotel offers a restaurant where a very good breakfast and dinner is served - in the afternoon, you can enjoy homemade cakes (try the blueberry cake!!) in the very nice garden with fantastic view of the sourrounding mountains. The hotel can only be reached...

We had lunch there after a romantic walk in the snow; a big family with small kids. Food was very good, service helpful and the ambiance relaxed and authentique. Back down to Sils Maria we took the horse sledge. We come here every year for lunch.

After a pleasant walk from the valley nearby Sils Maria, we reached the Hotel Sonne Fex. Inside it is always cosy and warm. This time, the restaurant surprised us with the most delicious chestnut cake ever, near a cup of vanilla frapé- just great! After, we enjoyed the snow coming back into the valley with the sleigh (as much as...

This rustic hotel is positioned quite high in a zone restricted from motor vehicles - very beautiful but very remote. Great for someone who wants to write a book but a total disaster for my family who wanted to ski. Contrary to what was promised on their website, shuttle service out of the restricted zone to the bottom of the...

We stopped by the restaurant at the Sonne Fex (we didn't stay at the hotel) on a lovely late-summer afternoon and had a wonderful, all-around experience there. The proprietor, Gian-Reto (whom we later learned is a fourth-generation owner), gave us a friendly greeting and joked with us as we deliberated about which table to choose on the empty terrace. He...

This hotel is a well kept secret! I almost hate writing a review for fear it will become too well known. It is cozy , rustic, clean and very well run by the family who owns it. You can't go wrong. I wouldn't stay anywhere else when in the St Moritz area. No cars allowed in the Fex Valley so...

The Sonne Fex is perfect in many ways: Breathtaking setting, enchanting decor, fantastic food and a real sense that you are a guest in someones home. Gian Reto is a great host who goes above and beyond the call of duty, shuttling you up and down the road, organising ski hire and lessons. The first things that hit me was...

I've been to Hotel sonne with my mother after a nice walk in Val Fex. We had two coffees and shared a slice of amazing blueberry cake with whipped cream. The balance between blueberries, the very subtle crust and a thin layer of blueberry jelly on top was just perfect and the cream alongside made this cake a masterpiece. I've...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the incomparable beauty of the Upper Engadine you find the village of Sils-Maria. It is not just a place with great scenic charm and many possibilities for leisure and culture, it is also the starting point for one of the most beautiful, southern valleys of the Engadine, the Fex Valley. Since the year 1954, the Fex is under protection, public transport into the valley is very limited, new buildings are hardly possible and the horse coaches see to the idyll in the valley. Here you find "on sunny meadow terrace, where the little white chapel of Fex Crasta looks far into a landmark of peace and tranquility, the "Gasthof zur Goldenen Sonne" as it was called in one of our first brochure in 1910. By now it's called Hotel Sonne Fex. Your hosts familiy Witschi-Fumm look after you in the 4th generation. ... more   less
